Nutella

At our house, we like Nutella on a slice of French bread.

I thought that was supposed to be the norm! :rotfl: But have you tried a slice of baguette spread with butter then nutella on top?:scared1::cloud9:

I know it's probably calories galore :rotfl: but it's worth it.;)

I gained 10 pounds over the summer and Nutella was a major factor. It's just too good. Now I'm low-carbing it, so no more Nutella - for a while. :rolleyes1

I've made the recipe from Giada with the wonton wrappers. :lovestruc She loves Nutella, too. Have you seen the dessert she talks about on the show "The Best Food I Ever Ate"? :worship: I don't remember if there's actually Nutella in it, or a home-made chocolate hazelnut spread, but the effect is the same - amazing.

Oh - and I saw one of those commercials lately, where they imply that Nutella is healthy. More like it's "part" of a healthy snack. You just have to put it on something healthy. :rotfl: Then I guess it makes the healthy food taste better, so kids are willing to eat it.

Not intended to ruin anyone's enjoyment:

ingredients: sugar, modified palm oil, hazelnuts, cocoa, skim milk, reduced minerals whey (from milk), soy lecithin: an emulsifier, vanillin: an artificial flavor.

LOL! The ads are ridiculous. I think I heard one where they describe it as a "creamy hazlenut spread with a...." (I love this part) "....touch of cocoa" HA HA HA. It's a freaking jar of fudge with an hint of fake hazelnut, at best (see an above poster with a nut allergy who can miraculously eat Nutella!)

Um, we've seen the label, I don't think anyone is promoting this as a healthy snack (in fact we've laughed at the claims). Just discussing what a yummy treat it is.

I had to avert my eyes. :scared1:

Nevertheless, I will keep eating it. :lmao:

It's really no better or worse than many other snacks. I eat it ALL the time. I just need to remember to eat it in "semi" reasonable quantities - like no more than half the jar at a time.

That's the best!!!

The best thing I ever made with Nutella is from Giada De Laurentiis. You take you heat up some oil, take wonton wrappers and fill with Nutella and then fold them over to make a triangle (use egg wash to seal them) and then fry until golden brown and then dust with powedered sugar. I make these, eat a few and then put the rest in plastic bags and put in the fridge. Then when I want some more I just heat them in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds.

I can't even begin to explain how good they are.

oh see, now I think i have to try it!

I saw that episode!

I have to stop opening this thread. I have convinced myself too many times NOT to buy the Nutrella, but darn it now I want to try it, just to try that giada recipe!!!!!!!!!

I like to make a sandwich with nutella and sliced bananas on italian bread, then grill it with a little olive oil. The olive oil seems to get a little crispier than butter.

I also like this recipe, it's from Everyday Italian.

CHOCOLATE-HAZELNUT GELATO
•2 cups whole milk
•1 cup heavy cream
•1/2 cup sugar, plus 1/4 cup
•4 egg yolks
•1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
•1/2 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (recommended: Nutella)
•1/2 cup toasted hazelnuts, crushed, for garnish
Directions
In a saucepan combine the milk, cream, and 1/2 cup sugar over medium heat. Cook until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a medium bowl whip the egg yolks with the remaining sugar using an electric mixer until the eggs have become thick and pale yellow, about 4 minutes. Pour 1/2 cup of the warm milk and cream mixture into the egg mixture and stir. Add this mixture back into the saucepan. Cook over very low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon, about 7 to 10 minutes.
Place a strainer over a medium bowl and pour the warm custard mixture through the strainer. Stir in the vanilla and hazelnut spread until it dissolves. Chill mixture completely before pouring into an ice cream maker and follow manufacturer's instructions to freeze. To serve, scoop gelato into serving bowls and top with hazelnuts.

Ohh my gosh, I love Nutella. :lovestruc I lived in Germany for a month in high school, and I swear that's all I ate - Nutella on fresh bread with a Coke. Definitely a healthy month for me. The BEST way to eat it, although incredibly super rich.. a Nutella & peanut butter sandwich. It's seriously heavenly.

OMG, nutella gelatto. Oh my... when I was in Italy, every time we passed a gelatto place, I swear I think we stopped in and got 3 scoops, and one was always Nutella. When we were in some small little Italian village who's name I can't even remember, but it was tiny, I don't think there was an entire traffic light in the whole place, we had the best gelatto. We ended up going back twice in the same evening to get more Nutella gelatto. And we stopped there again in the morning before we left.

Surprisingly, even after all these Nutella products, I actually lost weight, must have been all the walking and hostels with no elevators.

Every party loves a pooper that why we invited you, party pooper, party pooper...:rolleyes1

Ok question -

I would bet very few of you Nutella lovers are overweight. Am I right? I'm so flippin' curious. So curious.

Theory - the love and adoration of food has less to do with weight than people think. Quite possibly the opposite.

Ok carry on. I love how much you love it. :lmao:

Me - not really. But it's in my house - I going to give it a retry. I haven't had it since I was a child.
