CONGRATULATIONS!! it must feel so good!!
My DH got his diploma many many moons ago and started working for a hospital right off the bat (this was in the glory days with huge recruitment bonuses etc). His hospital paid for continuing ed, so he enrolled in our local university to get his BSN. It took him about 10 years, doing about 1-2 courses a semester while still working full time. BUT, the hospital paid for it all.
During this time, he worked in the ER and a couple of other spots. After a few short years, a position in the Nursing Education department opened up and he transitioned quickly to training, a nice desk job with very steady hours and low stress. He stayed put for a long time (since we had started a family, we decided we wanted his time and attention). A couple of years after getting his BSN, he decided to pursue his Masters while still continuing to work full time(hospital paid for half on condition he stayed with them).
He graduated with his Masters last year and about 6 months later, landed his dream job as a Professor at our local college. The pay increase was substantial enough we had no problems paying back the hospital and it's been an exciting time for him. He still stays in touch with his old employer (where he had worked for 20 years).
Anyway, if you are planning future education, check to see what your employer can do. It was VERY nice to have his BSN paid for in full (while still earning a full time salary). His new employer has just offered to pay for his PHD and we are debating that since we want him to start curving his career towards retirement.
