I'm typing on an iPad so please forgive typos :)

This is our first baby at wdw trip; we've been 4 times before with much older kids. I need all the nursing help I can get! she'll be 9 months old, and I don't even know what kind of nursing cover to get...not use to being in public. I've looked up where the baby centers are. can y'all let me in on where some out of the way benches might be?

Thanks!

We just finished a 5 day trip. My 11 month old nurses about 4 times a day. The morning session was in our hotel room. The lunchtime and dinner ones, I did by finding a private spot I felt comfortable at wherever we happened to be eating. I only did that for myself since my baby is distracted easily and I don't want to feel exposed. I never use a cover. I just wear a tank under my shirt to keep my stomach covered. Shirt up. Tank down give minimal exposure. I didn't want to trek to a baby center station since I know it would be 5 minutes of nursing and she'd be ready.

I bumped "The Official Breastfeeding" thread for you.

There is a lot of great info on it.

Our little one was 4 months old for our trip last year and 18 months old for our trip this year. Last year I learned pretty quick (the first night) to nurse him in the carrier. (PM for detailed instructions, lol). I had planned on "needing" to stop and sit. I understand some moms aren't comfy nursing in public but at disney who wants to sit and wait for a kid to get done suckling, lol. I'm not that mom, I'll nurse wherever/whenever, well not anymore, he weaned a couple months ago. :( Anyway, the way I did it in the carrier, I'm betting not many knew what I was doing (didn't care anyway, the way some adults eat is appalling not a baby nursing) ;). Practice before you go. There's plenty of out of the way places to sit though and of course there's the baby centers, I hear they're nice. Good luck....I'm sure you'll be fine.

I nursed wherever, whenever and it wasn't a big deal. With my first, I practiced in front of a mirror when he was a newborn to get comfortable with nursing in public. So, by the time I went to Disney, I was used to it. I found the baby care centers to never be near me, so I didn't use them. There are likely some out of the way benches that you can use if you want more privacy. When I first was getting comfortable with nursing in public, I also used the stroller and my husband to block the sides of me. Don't forget about the rides too - I nursed on a LOT of rides!

The subject of nursing at WDW comes up every few weeks or so. I would love to see a thread titled: "Where can I feed my child his sandwich at WDW?" The answer to both questions is.... ANYWHERE! Here are a few good choices:
Hall of Presidents, Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Carousel of Progress, Philharmagic, etc. You get the idea, shows and rides that are more than 10 minutes long. Have a great time!

thanks to everyone :).
Glad I don't have to ask my next question about sandwiches now.

Will also revert to breast feeding thread.

We tried an ill fated feeding "on the hoof" last week, but with my verticle carrier (faces me) itt was hard to say who was more frustrated! After it she gave me a seriously?look.

Friends I was never able to nurse while wearing DS. Not everyone can. Wait, let me be accurate. I did it twice. Once in the house and I didn't have a shirt on and I was hanging out everywhere. And once with the moby when he was over one and we were on a long walk, but the whole top of my chest was hanging out. A passing trucker got a fun view that day. But the reality was that we weren't able to make it work, and considering that he nursed like a typical newborn until he was 2 and continued to nurse for years after that (though I will admit not in public because he did not agree with my level of modesty), we had plenty of attempts.

:thumbsup2 Exactly this! It shouldn't even be a question. Your kid is hungry so feed him/her. Who gives a crap about the ignorance of others. The reason why there's ignorance is because too many hide in a dark corner somewhere ashamed to nurse in public. The more folks are exposed to seeing a nursing mom, the better. :thumbsup2

I was curious about this. I am thinking of bringing my soon to be 3mo old for a day trip(local). I know about the Baby Centers...but I have no problem nursing in public, and do it in my car, and at restaurants all the time...Disney will be no different....Just whip em out

I had no issue NIP. However, once my kiddos got to that distractible age, they certainly did! :) I eventually found Disney was too interesting for them to focus on nursing, but they were hungry and grumpy and wanted to nurse. Catch 22. I made good use of the Baby Centers which helped a bit. AK was the best as we got our own room. DDs were both distracted by the other babies in the group rooms. :) I often just sought out a quiet bench and tried to use a blanket to block the view (neither of my girls could stand being covered in any way, so I just held it to block their view.).

The best places for me? Monorail, baby centers, and benches in Epcot near the bridge to the Boardwalk.

I went when my 2 1/2 year old son was 6 months old to MK and last summer to HS when he was 2. I have no problem nursing in public with or without a cover and did it wherever I wanted to but realized both parks have a baby center that is quite nice. At MK it was at the front of the park. It has changing tables and a nursing room which was cool, quiet, had dim lighting and nice gliders. I was very comfortable and happy. At HS this past summer it was so hot and really didn't want to be on a bench so found the baby care center (again at the front of the park) and loved it!! Cool, tv with doc mcstuffins playing, sinks, microwave, highchairs, changing tables and two nursing areas with a curtain, both with dim lighting and gliders. Again very quiet and very comfortable. I'd do it wherever you are comfortable, but if you need some quiet and down time the baby care centers are wonderful!! In HS one other parent came in to change a little one and at MK maybe 4 other mom were in there to change little ones so I pretty much had it all to myself!
