NURSES-What Shoes Do You Wear to Work?

Fellow Nurses!
I am a student nurse, about to graduate in 5 months. I usually wear Danskos, but since I broke my foot (in the middle of clinicals, no less) I have been wearing Crocs (well, at first, I was wearing a walking cast, but I finally got out of that, 3 months after breaking my foot ). Anywho, I have to wear Crocs right now, as Danskos are too tall for my weak foot. However, they really are weak shoes compared to my beloved Danskos. What do y'all wear?!? Any suggestions much appreciated!

I wear Dansko's (white) but see others wearing them in black. I used to wear Nurse Mates brand shoes but that was before I tried Danskos.
Some nurses wear white sneakers, esp. if their feet bother them.
My supervisor wears Birkenstocks, she likes them.

I'm not a nurse but waitressed for many, many years and now work in a nursing facility and am on my feet all day (as many other professions are as well). I got turned onto Nurse Mates while waitressing in the 80s but I have to say, most of us at the rehab center prefer good ole sneakers, usually a name brand walking shoe like Nike or Reebok. They are 1/2 the price, easy to find, and you can throw them in the wash to bring back the shiny white.

I am generally more comfortable in backless shoes so I have been wearing backless athletic shoes by New Balance and Nike (white shoes are not required at my hospital).

Last week I tried wearing my Nike running shoes (not backless) to work and they were very comfortable. I can't stand anything heavy or confining on my feet (I normally wear a 7 1/2 bt buy my athletic shoes in 8 or 8 1/2).

Having very bad knees I have worn New Balance sneekers. The thing that I like about them is the totally leather ( or what looks like leather lol) ones have a roll bar in the heel of the shoe. It keeps my ankles from twisting funny when I am on them all day.

I wear white leather skechers tennis shoes. I like the support of a tennis shoe, seeing how I am on my feet for so many hours a night. Most of the nurses I work with also wear a tennis shoe (not necessarily white). I have seen a few nurses wearing crocs, but I wouldn't be comfortable wearing such a casual shoe to work. I shudder to think how dirty some of the stuff is that we come into contact with on a day to day basis (think bodily functions and drug resistant infections) and that I would feel awkward wearing a shoe that didn't provide more protection for my feet. My work shoes are so comfortable, but when I think about them, I get the heebie jeebies!

I'm a Croc wearer. I've not done Dansko because after trying them on, they felt too hard. I wore nurse mates for a long time. But I'm a peds nurse and have my Crocs of many colors. I love them.

RT student, not nursing but.... I always look at peoples feet.

i see dansko's- lots of them, I see croc's but I see mostly sneakers.

I was fitted for 2 different walking sneakers and I alternate between those.

I wear Crocs to work in a few different colors. I will have to order the professional Crocs after Jan. because where I work they are going to have a new rule that there can be no holes in the top of the shoes. I have tried all kinds of shoes but Crocs are the most comfortable for me.

DH loves his Danskos. He is on a med/surg floor. One thing to keep in mind is that it will depend somewhat on where you work. At DH's hospital, they have a dress code. I can't remember all of it, but I know most sneakers do not meet the criteria, and the crocs with holes are out. Of course, since DH is (obviously) male, we have a harder time finding nursing shoes anyway.

Most of the nurses at my hospital (a psychiatric hospital-so dress code is a little more lenient) wear Crocs.

Reeboks. I can't imagine wearing crocs for the reasons another poster said. Yuck I would not want to have some of the junk I've had splashed on my feet in the ER without the layer of closed leather there!!.

I haven't run across a hospital in 15 or so years yrs that doesn't allow sneakers if they are white, it surprises me someone mentioned this. I thought they had quit doing this.
