Just looking for a bit more info about this and to get an idea of prices for next year. (I'm sure they will go up a bit.)

The website says "starting at $129", but I wonder about the availability of that cheap of a rate. I would assume it would depend on the season. We're thinking of going either spring break (late April, not around Easter next year) or over the summer. Since our oldest is starting HS, she doesn't want to miss too much school.

I know I'll also have to factor in the resort and parking fees, but I think this may be the best alternative to POR for my family of 5. (We're also an Epcot family-- spend a majority of our trips there-- so the location would be wonderful. :cloud9:)

:cool1:I am a nurse as well and we are a family of 5 too. We are planning to go next may and we could not make a reservation for May. However she did give me an estimate for July this year instead of 225 for a regular room the nurse discount rate was 169. I think this a great price. We will be close to epcot and not paying those high rates at the other Disney Hotels. This hotel books quickly too. Have fun planning!!!

Does anyone know if the nurse discount applies to LPN's also? A few times I have run into discounts for nurses that were only for RN's. I would love to go back to school and get mine, just not in the cards now. I will someday!

I believe that is does. It's a very nice discount. We stayed in 2002 using the rate and it was $129 at the time and they upgraded us to an Epcot view room! They don't specify RN only, they just call it a nurse discount.

I found this for you:) I guess you just bring a copy of your license.

All nurses and LPN Nurses can take advantage of the Nurses discounts. If you are a Nurse with a certified nursing certificate or you are an LPN Nurses with a LPN certificate you can take advantage of the Nurses discounts

I was wondering if you can purchase the Disney Dining Plan while staying at either the Swan or the Dolphin? How about transportation ~ will we be able to use the Magic Express? Thanks for any help. I never knew about the Nurses' discount, this would be great!

Sorry no you can't the the DDP or get the ME but they do have transportation to the parks and EMH.

Don't forget they add a resort fee on top of the room rates, and a parking fee if applicable.

Realize too that the resort fee includes internet and bottled water. It's about the same cost as Disney charges for internet.

O.k. Thanks for the info! I'll have to add the resort fee, and transportation. That's nice that they include internet with that though. The rooms look gorgeous! It still looks to be less expensive than the Magic Kingdom resorts that we were looking at, though I guess we would need to take buses to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. We like the Contemporary, mainly for the Monorail. Makes it easy to get around for sure:) Hopefully Disney will come out with some sort of discount for the Fall. Thanks for sharing your info with me ~ I appreciate it!

Thanks for all of the info.

I was just hoping that they didn't have a few days out of the whole year that were $129 and then it was about $200 for most other dates.

Since our next trip is so far out I can't get a quote so I was just looking to estimate based on this year's prices.

We drive, so I'm just adding an extra $25 (for parking and resort fee) to the Dolphin price when comparing to the Disney resorts. It looks like the Dolphin will be the same price unless Disney offers a good discount at POR for our dates.

Older DD and I were talking to DH last night about prices and options and he paused and said... "You are talking about next year, right? We probably need to space these trips out a bit." :upsidedow

I had just checked for the weekend of May 13-15 and the nurses/teacher rate was $149.00 plus the $10 resort fee (standard room, no view/balcony). They only had rooms at the Dolphin, but had several types/views available.

We've used the nurses' rate once before several years ago over MLK weekend (2003 I think) and it was $129 a night at that time. We were able to book 3 or 4 rooms under the rate.
