Does anyone know of a nurse practitioner office (like the new ones in the supermarkets and pharmacies) where a PNP or a physician can treat minor illnesses (a cold that may turn to sinus infection after our arrival in Orlando)? The little one has a cold now and doubt the goo will turn to an infection prior to departure early Friday AM but no doubt it will turn into a full blown sinus infection within days of our arrival to the big WDW. Trying to map a game plan ahead of time. Thanks for any help you can offer.

across from Crossroads (by the days inn) and before you get to palm parkway there is a Centra Care center...good for those quick checks and doctor visits...

Ask at the front desk of your hotel. My youngest got sick once when we were staying at the Poly and the front desk gave us a map to the nearest walk in doctor's office. It was a nice place, well staffed, and they got us in and out with a prescription in a jiffy. We did have a van though, if you need transportation I think the hotel staff will help you with that too. I think they also have names of doctors who will come to your hotel room, but it is pretty pricey and we did not feel it was necessary in our case. HTH.

There's also an NTC URgent Care on Route 27 one mile north of 192 that's usually less crowded.

My DS had the doctor come right to the room when DN was sick. It was pricey but their insurance ended up paying all but the regular co-pay because they were out of town.

That doctor was wonderful Compassionate, gentle, and very kind to my poor neice who was only 14 months and had a rotten bug. He gave her a shot of compazine or something along those lines to stop the vomiting, and it worked very well.

I have taken DD to After Hours Pediatrics several times. I can't recommend them enough. They are located at the corner of Dr. Phillips and Conroy/Windermere Road. It is about a 15 to 20 minute drive from WDW property and easy to find.

They only take kids under 21. It is totally set up for children. There is a TV playing a movie in every exam room. There are nice padded rockers for parents in each exam room. The doctors and staff are great. They are open from 5pm to 1am.

The best part...the take most forms of insurance!

I would call her own doctor now and explain the situation. If she (like my Ds used to) gets a sinus infection with most colds, he or she might write a percription to be filled in case she needs it. Your own doctor knows better what works well for your child and you might avoid a expensive and stressful trip while there. Of course she might not get sick at all!!
Prayers for a healthy trip!!

We had to use the After Hours Pediatrics mentioned by pp last week. My youngest shut her finger in the steel bathroom door at ESPN cafe. Her nail and the front part of her finger was ripped off. She had to have her nail put back under the cuticle and 9 stiches to reattach it.

Our home doctor said the doctor in Orlando did a "masterful" job. It was very clean and we were taken care of very quickly. They didn't even hold it against DD as she screamed like a crazy person. She was in a lot of a pain.

DS was 16 months on our last trip and managed to get a nasty ear infection. We went to First Aid in MK and they told us about the urgent care facility near Downtown Disney. They pick you up and will bring you back to the parks or your resort. We just missed the closing cutoff, but we went the next morning and it was great.

2 years ago, my ds (then 15 months) got sick. high fever, turned out to be roseola, ... anyway, we had the DR. come to our room.. cost about $200, but we put it on our Credit card, and when we got back home, submitted it to ins., and got reimbursed for all of it but our co-pay amount
