Does anyone know if we are limited to the number of transfers during a year? I've already had one transfer and was wondering if I can have more transfered into my account? Is this a one time per year or can I have as many transfers as I negotiate?

You can have more than one transfer a year. The only stipulation is the transfers are one-way per year, not sure if it is calendar year or use year.

Meaning if you get points transferred in, you can't transfer them out. And if you transfer your points out, you can't get any transferred in, until the next year anyway. Again, not sure if it is calendar year or use year.

I don't think there is a limit to transferring points into your account, and the previous poster was right about having them EITHER transferred in or out, but not both.

However, I have been told that you can only transfer points out of your account to another member once during the year.

It used to be one transfer (in or out) per USE YEAR in one direction. Now it's unlimited per USE YEAR but only one direction either in OR out.

As usual, Dean is correct!

This raises a question about transfers. I know you can only transfer one way during the use year. Does this apply to all contracts listed under a membership number? I have three contracts listed with .1, .2, extensions, etc. under one membership number. One account at Boardwalk and two accounts at VWL. They are accounted for separately when viewing the DVC member site.

If I transfer into one of the VWL accounts, but not the other one, can I later transfer out of the other VWL account (the one that had no points transferred into it.)

Any advice.

My understanding is it is per ownership. So multiple add ons under one master would be counted as one while multiple totally separate ownerships would be treated as separate owners and be allowed one set per contract.

I've got two master contracts. Don't ask me how I did it. However, can I then transfer out of one master (to someone else) and them rent from someone and transfer into my other master contract?

If you have two totally separate contracts there are plusses ands minuses. The good things is if the use years are different, there are advantages in which use year to chose for certain trips. And in things like transfers as in this thread. Negatives are that you don't get the benefit of fluid co-mingling of points when appropriate or the aggregate total for purposes of banking for the 50% & 25% banking deadlines.

I heard the we were only allowed to do a transfer once per year. I did a transfer into my April 2008 account, but it was not enough points to complete the trip I was hoping for.

According to these posts, it seems I may be able to transfer some additional points into my account but not out?

Looking for some confirmation or clarification?

when did they change the rule to one way. I called about 2 weeks ago and was given the information that it was still only 1 transfer per year (I am i the process of deciding about buying into dvc). This is a factor for me because if I can transfer out an unlimited number of times I would probably buy more points (I am not interested in renting points but would transfer any extra I had) . Is there anywhere in the public area where this info is posted

You might want to check the date this thread was started. At that time, multuple transfers were still allowed - but that changed in summer 2006.

At this time, one transfer (either into or out of your account) is allowed per Use Year.

Thanks for the info, I wonder if Disney realized this change would push some poeple into the resale market instead of buying direct?

The "change" was the way DVC was originally set up in 1991. It was later relaxed allowing multiple transfers around 2003 and then changed, in 2006, back to the original policy - allowing only one transfer per year. It is the same for all members and is not infleunced by direct or resale purchases so I don't see any relationship to pushing a buyer in any direction.

It doesnt matter who you buy through it is still the same for everyone.

Please explain why you think that would be. Since someone who buys resale has the same rules as someone who buys direct, it applies to all.

I had points transfered into my account from another member on Wednesday. Durring the transfer, Disney wanted to talk with both of us and told the transferer that this was his 1 time use year transfer out and when I got on the phone, she told me that this was my 1 time use year transfer in. So based on that phone call you are only allowed 1 transfer in and 1 transfer out per use year.

Let me clarify, I only visit about every 2 years and typically just of 5 weekdays dream season 2br. 160 points is more than I need (initial purchase). I have no interest in renting so transferring is the only other way not to waste unneeded points (that can not be banked for a future date). The likelihood of finding someone who needs exactly how may points I have seems problematic. So my only alternative is to buy fewer points in the resale market.

If you already have more points that you can use, why buy more points from ANY source? There are MANY members looking for a few points via transfer - getting rid of a few points you can't use shouldn't be any issue at all.

I don't think bookwormde is a member yet and is saying they will buy resale so as to not have to buy a minimum 160 points since they will not need that many and the transfer system as set up will not be convenient for their needs.
