number of people in grand villa

I understand the grand villa allows you to have 12 people in it. We want to make plans to stay at OKW but have 14 in our party. The group is made up of 8 adults, 4 children, and 2 infants. Will we run into any problems with this? Has anyone ever experienced situations like this? We really want to stay together and don't want to incurr any additional expense? Is this allowed since we have 2 infants?

infants don't count toward room total....at least one doesn't..not sure about two...I'd call and find out. With a huge room like that, I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

Although most rooms will allow the stated occupancy plus one infant in a crib, the Grand Villas do have a STRICT 12 guest maximum when booked CRO/WDTC.

Actually, in this case babies do count. I have several friends who work at the Disney Reservation Center so I asked one of them to check and this is what they pulled from their internal resources for a Grand Villa at OKW...

Bedding Options:
1 King Bed in master bedroom, 2 Queen Beds in second bedroom, 2 Double Beds in third bedroom and 1 Queen Sleeper Sofa in living room - sleeps 12 maximum (no additional infants in a crib)

They told me that the same wording appears in the bedding description for the Grand Villas at SSR, BWV and AKV. They also said their system would not allow them to complete a reservation listing more than 12 people in a Grand Villa.

It is possible that DVC Member Services has more leeway in this regard - you'd have to ask them if you are a member.

They will usually allow only one child under the age of three, but not two. One of those children will count towards the occupancy of the room. So officially you will have 13 which is one too many. Sorry.

You could always get two 2-bedroom villas which would each sleep 8 plus one under the age of three.

By the way, are you a member? If you are, you'll need OKW points and make this reservation at 11 months to insure it. Otherwise, you probably are out of luck. When were you planning on going?

Yes we are DVC Members, but our home resort is not OKW. Thank you for your insight, I will definitely call.

I would not recommend heeding this advice. First off, it would require lying by omission as Disney policies require the name of each person who will be staying in the room/villa whether or not they require park admission. Secondly, if you want to use DME everyone in the party, including the infants, must be listed on the reservation. But even more importantly, it could be DANGEROUS to omit the infants from the reservation. God forbid something happens at the resort and they need to do a search and rescue. If you lie by omission about the infants being in your travel party Disney won't know they are with you and will not know to search for them in an emergency. Now I know the chances of that sort of emergency are very slim but do you really want to take the chance?

If you are a DVC member planning to book with points I urge you to contact Member Services (it is a toll free call after all) and get the answer from them. We can post our opinions and even the information that we have received from CRO/WDTC but if you are booking with points then it is the DVC rules that you need to verify from the source.

Actually when booked by CRO/WDTC there are no extra adult fees for the DVC properties. Again, I urge the OP to just call Member Services and get the official word from them.

For regular resorts this is correct but DVC accommodations booked through DRC (there is actually no such thing as CRO any longer) do not charge an additional adult fee. Try going to disneyworld.com and pricing a room-only studio with 2 adults and then with 4 adults...prices will be the same. Obviously package prices will differ because of tickets and dining plan costs for the additional adults but there are no additional adult fees for the DVC rooms themselves.
