Number of Guests Per Room

I didn't read all the replies so sorry if it's already been said!!

I called a few weeks ago to order the DVD and had a discussion with one of the people there and she said in my situation we can still get a All Star or Pop century room that has only 2 beds.. There are 6 of us. I had told her I was looking online and it wouldn't let me but she said since I have 2 under 2 I can still book as if they were only 4.. One child can sleep with us, one can do in the crib..

It would be very cramped if we do this but it would be a great way to save money.

Do you know that the beds at the value resorts are doubles? They are SMALL. When we stayed at POP for one night I slept in one bed and DH slept in the other. We could never have slept comfortably in one bed - let only with a child

Honestly, with six people, even though two are little people, I would go with a deluxe that sleeps 5 (BWI, YC, BC, GF, CR, or Poly). I know they are expensive, but I would save up. You could also look into the AllStar family suites. I think those are a bit less expensive. Or the wing rooms at the CR. They are less expensive and have more room than most any other hotel. I know there isn't a "good" solution, but I would personally be miserable in a value room with six, even if two were under 3 years old

Also consider the Dolphin. I know they allow up to 5 in a room, and since 1 is a baby, they might allow 6. With the Government/nurse/teacher rate, they run between $149-$179 per night.

The All Star Music Family Suites are less than a standard room at WL or AKL, and a lot less than a standard room at the other deluxes (BWI, YC, BC, GF, CR and Poly). If you don't need the amenities of a deluxe, this might be your best bet. The bed in the bedroom is queen, and there are pullouts in the living area. Plus, there are two bathrooms and two tvs, a small fridge, and a coffeemaker (deluxes also have fridge and coffeemaker).

The lowest rate for the All Star Music Family Suites is $184.

The lowest rate for a standard room at WL and AKL is $225 (WL and AKL are generally the least expensive deluxe resorts).

Years ago we purchased DVC, as for a family of 6 to pay cash for one of the villas was above our budget. Since that time my kids are now grown so we can still use our points for a smaller unit and go more often or treat everyone to a bigger family vacation. I look back at that decision as a great investment. It only took one call to be told ( 12 years ago ) that to pay cash for a 2 bedroom at OKW it would be $450 ( now it's quite a bit more) to spur us to shell out the cash for a membership. I know it isn't for everyone but it worked well for us. It's tough to travel anywhere with more than 2 children because most resorts and hotels are set up to accomodate parties of 4. At least at DVC there is no charge for add'l adults either which brings down our current costs since now all 6 of us are adults. With the addition of the family suites, connecting rooms, and the option for the Ft. Wilderness Cabins plus the villas I think Disney does a great job at trying to accomodate larger families in comfort and within their budget.---Kathy

We did the same thing last year. Our DD, our third child, turned 4 and we knew our vacations in WDW were going to change since we always stayed in a Value or Mod.

We always wanted to join DVC, we used this as our "excuse" to finally go ahead with it. I know it is not an option for everyone but, it was a great one for us.

It is funny, 5 of us in a room at Movies was fine. Not great but, we hardly spend any time in our room so, it worked. Now we have stayed in a one bedroom at SSR and I stayed with two friends in a one bedroom at BWV and I can't imagine ever going back to the five of us in a regular room again...lol.

I feel for all of you "large" families. (It is funny....I never consider our family to be large but, Disney does in regards to rooms). I know there are not a ton of options But, the ones that are available are not so bad.
