Nudity and Children

So as not to co-opt the other threads dealing with the subject, I figured I'd start a new one.

My dd is 6. She is starting to not want her Dad to see her change. He can bathe her, but he cannot see her in her panties . Okay. Last week she was in my room getting dressed. The door was closed and just she and I were in the room. She was bare-butt nekkid and DH came in the room. She jumped, screamed, and then... covered her butt-crack with her hands!!! My dh and I nearly died laughing. I pulled her aside and told her "Everyone has a butt - it's the front you need to cover," she said, "oh," and moved one hand around to the front.

I seriously cannot wait until she brings a boy home when she's about 18 or so - this story will make a reappearance!

My 6 and 7 year olds have not learned modesty at home yet. They are pretty comfortable being naked around DH and I.

But Emily hates it when her panties show above the back of her pants at school.

My DD is 11 and just the past year started getting modest. DS, on the other hand, got it early. I haven't seen that kid naked since he was probably 5 years old, if that. Even then, he was funny about it. At 16, he doesn't even like to go barefoot! I don't know why -- while we don't run around naked or anything, we've never made a big deal out of it.

Mine has no modesty at home. Every morning when he gets up, he goes in to use the bathroom, then walks, I mean shuffles, back down the hall to his room with his PJ bottoms and underwear around his ankles. I guess its too much trouble to pull them up when he is just going to take them off to get dressed anyways.

I think around age 6 is when this starts. I remember one particularly hot summer day when I was this age, and my mom told my sister and me to strip off our clothes and go out in the backyard. (We were surrounded by woods.) I was , covered my flat little chest, and said, "Mom! Someone might see me!"

My DH grew up in a household where nudity was no big deal, and my parents were pretty conservative. My DS6 clearly takes after DH in this regard, and doesn't really pay attention to being naked or anyone else being naked, either. But now I'm more self-conscious of being naked or in my underwear should DS6 walk into my bedroom.

Funny stories.

At 4 our youngest dd would love to run all over naked-- no problems at all.

At 12 our middle dd tends to be more modest of course, but we have to constantly tell her if her pants are too low or make her change. She doesn't actively show off anything, but she's comfortable going to her dad or I if she's having problems in non public places.

At almost 16 our ds has always been very modest and proper. He wouldn't even take his shirt off in the summer except to swim because someone might see his stomache. Now he's more relaxed, but still doesn't want anyone seeing him even in his underwear!

We have always taught our kids about being covered and the only ones that should see their private areas are their parents or their doctors-- kind of thing.

My girls are 14 and 16 and I can't remember the last time I saw them naked....I know in the past 5 years or so they have become really shy about being naked but they don't give a rats hiney if I'M naked though.....

They will always walk in on me taking a shower and changing and it's no big deal...but they won't let me see them naked...my 14 year old told me once, "Mom, I'm just not comfortable with anyone seeing my butt!!" I told her to keep it that way for a while!!!

I think the OP needs to get with the people who create those fuzzy areas on TV. They fuzz out butt cracks all the time.

But I can't get her to wear a belt, and she won't wear low-rise undies, so the only solution is a long shirt. Well the little demon is growing so fast, that I can't keep shirts on her. Can't she just stay this size for a little while?

I have a funny story about this. My DSisIL was putting on her bra one morning while Dneph was watching. He was around 2 probably. In his day care they were studying farm animals. He looked at his mom and said "Mommy, you're like a cow. You have gutters!"

My one DD loves to strip down and do the streak thru the house. No modesty whatsoever.. Dad is always having to turn his head and tell her he doesn't want to see that anymore... I guess she could use those fuzzy areas also...What a great

Can we change daughters for awhile? My dd is 6 too and she sometimes runs out of the bathroom completely naked in front of my dbf, laughing hysterically. He just pretends not to notice while I yell at her, "Young lady, march yourself right back into the bathroom and put your clothes on! We do not get naked in front of boys!"

I'm worried about that child.
