Good morning, all!

I just received my first e-mail alert regarding my DNiece & the marathon. She completed her first 5 miles in 53 mins, 39 secs!! Woo-Hoo!!! I don't know if that's good or bad, but DANG, I'm so proud of her!!:thumbsup2

They started running at 6am.

For those of you who don't know, NTSammy5 & I are brother & sister.

D Niece has a chip in her shoe that records times from special transponders along the course & then e-mails or text's the information to anyone who signed up to receive it!!

Run, Kim, RUN!!!

That's pretty cool with the chip. Good luck on the Marathon.

Congratulations to your niece..certainly has started the year out "on the right foot" so to speak!:rotfl:

Message sending shoes.....but no cure for the common cold.

Big Al needs a chip in a "beer drinking glove" so we can know how many beers he's had in 53.5 minutes

Alas Rog, there will never be a cure for the common cold.. there is too much money in it.:sad2:

Some things would just be TMI!!:rotfl2:

Kim finished the marathon in 4 hrs 30 mins. Again, I don't know if that's good or not, but the doggone kid did it!!!

The transponder chip thingy went down, so after the first email, no other ones were sent. Disney "un-magic", perhaps?

Kim is now resting at her resort & nursing a few blisters. She & her DH are both physical therapists by profession & know what she needs to do.

About 3pm or so, we're all meeting at the MK for a night of fun!!! She needs to walk around so her muscles don't stiffen up on her...poor baby. I would probably have dropped over dead after about a quarter mile!!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: I'm proud of my girl!!! :woohoo: :woohoo::woohoo:

As a fellow marathoner, let me just address this. She just ran 26.2 MILES. MILES. 26 of them. And then another point two. Um- its not good, it's GREAT! Whether she did it in 2:35 or in 8:42... SHE DID IT!

Be proud :)

i'da been done walking up to the start line. :o

I woulda cheated and rode with Gatordad and Rog on Gatordad's golf cart up to just about the finish line, pour some warm water on me and say I did it, I did it. If I ever had to run again to save my life............well let's just say I'd be using that pre-death thingy muh jig I bought a while back.

I won't comment on where my ashes are going to be interned though.:rotfl: :rotfl:

you had just better make sure you are there memorial day..... Rog is coming to town, and I don't want to disappoint. i might make one of those magical gathering things If only Jen would tell me how....

4 and a half hours is incredible!!!! That is just over the 10 minute mile that she was doing to start with! Which means that she started out with a pace and kept up with it~IMO, that's more impressive than just finishing the thing!

Yey Kim!!!!

BTW, I don't think you get any discounts for a grand gathering. There are things you can do, that an average sized party doesn't get to do; and WDW recognizes all of you as a group~but I think that's about it.

Thanks, everyone!!! I've been told by others that to just finish your first marathon is quite an achievement. (Obviously, I'm not a runner - Rog can vouch for that!!)

I couldn't run 26 yards, feet, or inches!! Well... maybe I could if there was a free beer involved or some kungaloosh or margarita's, or Dennis Quaid!

Kim and her DH left to go back to Glen Falls, NY this afternoon. She was hobbling a little - but said it was not too bad. Egads!!! They'd have to inter my ashes at an undisclosed location at FtW if I even attempted to do what she did!!

Anyways - thanks for all your uplifting comments!!

Thanks everyone. Just got back. What an awesome experience the Disney Marathon was/is. I'll post some thoughts soon.

I'm very proud of Kim. She beat my best marathon time (30 years ago) and she'll continue to hold the record because no marathons for me with an artificial knee.

Welcome Home buddy!!..Artificial knees are good enough when the marathon is to the fridge and back with a fresh cold one.
