For those of you who have been and now returned - do you have any regrets? What wouldn't you do if you went again, what did you do that you wish you hadn't?

Please give those of us who are still to go a quick heads up.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Cheers:drinking1

Well, it's a long time since my first trip in 1992, but my 'learns' were:

Don't bother with the welcome meeting - you'll be awake at the crack of dawn, so take the opportunity to get a march on the crowds and hit a park on your first day;

Don't try to blitz everything. We rushed from ride to ride, following the tour plans in the guide books, which, on the whole, are written for Americans (who tend to spend 3-5 days there at a time) and focus on the busiest periods. Take some time to soak it all up and 'smell the roses';

Don't try to do it all. Concentrate on your "must do's" - for me, the four Disney parks and two Universal parks. For most families, that probably means a water park or two and, if you're animal/wildlife lovers, Sea World too. I do really like Sea World and it's even better these days, but there's so much to do that it's still probably the first park which would get dropped in a contest with the other major parks;

Realise that, no matter how much the mind is willing, you will need some 'down time'. For me that's shopping (:teeth: ), for others it's probably relaxing at a water park, or by the pool.

Most probably you will be going again so just pace yourselves - we went in 1990 first of all and have not been anywhere else since!.
Depending on the time of year you go visiting the Theme Parks as a first timer can be hard work if you try and do too much.
Even though we have been loads of times we try and avoid walking around the parks at the busiest and hottest times of the day - stick to the basics, wear light comfortable clothing and drink plenty of water.
The best piece of advice is to get to the parks early and have a break for lunch, return in the evening - usually visiting 2 different parks.

Rest days are a must, do some shopping , maybe drive off for the day somewhere - or just relax by the pool.
Do not try and visit the parks every day - there is something called 'Theme Park Overload' that some of us have suffered from at times. There have been the odd days where it's been too hot and we have found ourselves walking round a park and not really enjoying it.

Plan ahead to a degree and do not be afraid to ask questions on these boards - all the people who visit this site know their stuff and like us have made mistakes on our visits.
Our main one was going in June the first 3 times - my wife found it too hot.

Went to Church Street Station once and didn't enjoy it - closed down now.
Didn't really enjoy Key West and visited Sarasota for a few days on one trip and were dissapointed also.

Hi

We came back in May 04.

My regret was that we got back on plane to come home.......

Seriously we would never go to a welcome meeting and we never have since the first time we went.

We would never go to Silver Springs, as beautiful the springs was this was all it had going for it and it was such a long drive.

Never go on all the tours at Nasa again. This took all day and we were bored half way through, after you have paid you have to stick with it.

Other than that nothing else I can really think of.

I am just sad I am back and have to wait till October 05 to go back.

Regards
Michelle

Although have a plan leave yourself scope to make changes if required.

I wish we had been to the HOB Gospel Brunch on earlier trips as it is definitely on the list for next time. Not for everyone but if you sit on the balcony then you can just get involved when and if you want. The food was great.

Don't forget you are on holiday so relax.

The only regret I have is not joining DVC when we first looked at it on our first trip in 1996 - we had the money, but decided at the last minute against it - we were worried about not using it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine that!!!

Would still love to join - maybe next year.....;)

regrets?.....that i can't try out rock and roller coaster and haven't been on tower of tower in many years......health reasons....oh....and for the same reason i can't experience mission space......mainly it's not being able to enjoy them together with my son.....oh well....

My main regret from last year is there was a lot of eateries/restaurants we wantes to try and never!!
Just too tired after a long park day so mainly ate in the hotel restaurant which regardless what other people thought of it I enjoyed it! (QII)!!

QII - That's good to hear, that's where we're staying. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I promise you we'll be trying as many pubs and restaurants as we can

It's difficult and hard work, not for the weak willed, but we've been in training for the past four years and are now in peak eating condition.

Look out Charlies Steakhouse!

Waiting for an hour and a half for Fantasmic, - what a let down!!!

Gatorland, - Mmmm. What to say that isn't rude?
