We have flights for the first week of January. Should we start looking for a backup?

It is always a good idea to have a backup. When flying an airline in bankruptcy, doubly-so.

Independence Air doesn't have very many assets. Unlike other airlines in bankruptcy, like Delta, Independence Air is expected by many to cease operations. If your flight is more than 60 days out I'd book a SW flight as a backup. If you don't fly with SW you'll have a year to use the credit.

If your flights are within 60 days I'd probably still book a backup but you might get lucky.

Passengers that don't have the resources to book a new reservation without first getting a refund from Independence Air are in trouble.

Gahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: We are flying Independence THIS SUNDAY!!! I hope they continue to fly. We also have tix booked with them for Las Vegas in mid-December. I'm slipping into panic-mode!

How do you think I feel. I was just hired by them I was so excited and now read the news my manager never said anything to me last week when I got hired and I read that if they get no bidders within 60 days they are going to cease to exist. I cannot afford to take a job and be canned within 60 days. I am so bummed I was looking so forward to working for the airline.

We leave in 58 days to go! Does that mean we can fly down, but not back :rotfl2: I guess it's not funny, but I am not ready to shell out another $350 for airline tickets!

I fly them on Thursday and that trip will get me a free rewards trip. I would have to book that for January 13, if they last that long, can't go anywhere before then. After that I guess I have to find another bankrupt airline to fly.

OMG! I think we are cursed. Everytime we book a flight to FL it is cancelled for whatever reason. We have yet to fly to FL. This curse is only to FL. We are quite successful when it comes to traveling to other parts of the world.

We have a ressie on Independence Air to MCO on Feb. 16 and returning Feb 26. What should I do? What can I do?

According to a reporter on the Washington news tonight, we should be OK through the end of the year. I am keeping my fingers crossed as we have tix Dec 10 -14. But I also had tix for New Orleans that I now have to figure out what to do with so...

Keep your fingers and toes crossed!!

MHF, we fly out of here at December 10th as well, perhaps we will be on the same flight.

One of our friends is a pilot for IA and he says we will be fine, not to worry about it. If something does, we will just drive I think, not a big deal! It would suck if our return flight got canceled though huh, while down there. The flight going down is almost booked, but the return flight isn't even half full.

We are flying into Orlando on Dec 3 and returning Dec 10. There are 6 of us, so I am hoping we will be ok.

Hey Virginia pal.
We are on the 8:30 a.m. (or something like that) flight down on Saturday the 10th. Want to get there for lunch at DTD. Staying at POFQ.
And you are correct, our Wed. evening flight back at 6:30 barely has anyone on it. If they cancel that, I'll head to Tampa to see mom until I get another flight home! :rotfl: :rotfl:

We are flying IA December 17 and return on December 26. Hoping for the best as you all are.

Question for MemoryMaker2669... how can you tell how booked an IA flight is? I know what to look for for other airlines, but don't seem able to find that info. Thanks!
