Someone is actually selling a DVC DVD (the promotional one they send out for FREE) on ebay. Disgusting (or perhaps not ;) )!

Link please ;)?

Plenty of people sell stuff on eBay they got for free. I'm waiting for a good DVC tote bag auction. We bough all our points on the resale market.

I see the vacation videos and the free wedding dvds all the time too. :rotfl:

Oh don't get me wrong I'm all for selling free stuff that isn't available to the general public!! :thumbsup2 Got my eye on the blue DVC backpack that the early SSR buyers got. Looks way cool. Also wouldn't mind picking up a couple of those red DVC ball caps. I won't however be bidding on the DVC DVD. :lmao:

"NOTHING on eBay sells for LESS than it is worth........"

I feel like DrT with this profound quote!

I think it's funny that people sell the free park maps or the soap from the WDW hotels - there are always bids on these too.

Tony - bought a 1979 park map on e-Bay the other day for $1 - it's huge 3ft x 3ft 6in - perfect condition and in it's original bag. Also got a great brochure from same period - loads of pages/info/photos - $5, oh and a plate a while back for a couple of bucks from 1971 opening. There is some good stuff around too.

I saw someone sell their ornament from the merry mixer saying it was a cast exclusive. Funny how the one I got - and I am not a cast member - looks exactly the same.

Oh pigby:

Don't get me wrong, I love Ebay, I buy 'stuff' (and that is a kind word for what I buy), but true bargins, are far and few between. Everything sells for what it is worth! I can usually find many items much cheaper from wholesalers (buying through my company) than the best deals on eBay, such as glow products and light up ice cubes!

But I still love eBay.

-Tony

BTW, I'll give you $2.00 for your map! :teeth:

Funny! I almost feel like PM the person bidding and tell them they can it for free!!!

A few thoughts. First of all, I am not sure that we can assume that everyone can get the DVD for free. I don't think DVC is allowed to solicit sales in every state. Therefore, those people who are in states where DVC is not licensed to sell would not be able to get the DVD directly by mail. While in most cases, I think people are just not aware they can get it for free, there also are some people who might want it, but can't get it directly. With respect to soap, etc., some people just like the stuff and what they get for free is just not enough for their tastes. So, yeah, I think there is a lot of stupid stuff up on eBay and there are a lot of naive bidders and aggressive sellers, it is also true that one person's junk is another person's treasure and that it takes both a willing seller and a willing buyer to make a transaction. BTW, I have never sold or offered for sale any item whatsoever on eBay, so I have no vested interest here.

P.T. Barnum....sucker born every minute...etc. etc. Anyone is free to sell anything they want (within ebay rules), no matter what they paid for it.

Just like members who paid $58 for their points a decade or more ago are able to sell them for $90+ now or rent them out for $10 and claim they're being fleeced.
Ah the beauty of capitalism :lmao:

It wouldn't be so funny if they didn't actually have a bidder! PT Barnum must be laughing in his grave.

Did you hear about the old grilled cheese sandwich with what was supposedly the image of the Blessed Mother on it selling for thousands of dollars?

I see DVC, Happiest Celebration on Earth, and Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings dvds on ebay all the time. The sad thing is that some people have bid as high as $10 plus shipping especially for the wedding dvds.

I'm trying to figure out who'd WANT this stuff from people they never met. I dread the invitations that include, "Come on over tonight and we'll watch my son's/brother's/cousin's vacation/wedding/baby videos! We KNOW you'd want to see them." Uhgggg. Why would anyone want them from Ebay??

The one that really got to me was a friend who video taped her grandson's circumcision. (And no, they aren't Jewish.) That kid is gonna hate her - or worse, if it ever turns up on Ebay.

DisFlan

OK - The bid is "up" to 99 cents. I am amazed that the seller put up a photo and has about a 1500 word description of the item. It can't be worth the effort. :confused3

This is very true! Three years ago when I wanted to get some info on DVC they were not licensed in WA state yet. They wouldn't even talk to me on the telephone! I ended up going online and putting in my dad's address (he lives in Ocala) and had them send the tape to him, then he sent it to me. When I finally took the tour last year I gave them my phone number and they pulled up my dad's address and name, I finally had to 'fess up to my deception, LOL. I would have paid 99 cents to have one shipped to me and bypass all of that, it just didn't occur to me at the time to check ebay.
