Now this is getting ridiculous...

I tried to coordinate twice with two different people to release two different BOG ressies as a result of a change of plans/park days (one lunch, one dinner).

We connected and I released. Somehow both ressies were snatched up by someone else as soon as I released (or they disappeared into the system?).

Today I called to modify a few reservations because we had a party of 5 but now one of our party can't go. I wanted to be a good guest and modify rather than just have one person not show up.

The CM cancelled our Fantasmic lunch at H&V for party of 5 and before she could even get the party of 4 ressie back, someone else had snatched it up. That is insane. She had to put me on hold for a while to get a manager to get us the reservation back.

She explained that with some types of ressies, like Fantasmic and Candlelight Dinner and Eat to the Beat, they have to cancel the first one then rebook under the new number. There is a major problem when that system causes you to lose a reservation in a split second simply by trying to be considerate.

Doesn't motivate me to modify any future dining ressies.

This reservation frenzy is insane. o_O

That's how all reservations work. And I wonder if this isn't also the explanation. It sounds like they got someone to override the system and overbook the restaurant. If someone else cancels, it won't open up a spot; they have negative seats now, and another cancellation would just get them back even, so it would never show up.

So is that possibly what happened with both of my BOG reservations? The restaurant was overbooked and they just never released them? I felt bad about posting that I had a ressie and then disappointing the people who contacted me about coordinating the release.

The CM said she had to do it differently with Fantasmic than with any other ressies. She said the ADRs with 2 day cancellation policies rebook differently. She had to take credit card info for the Fantasmic one. Not for the others.

I was wondering whether there are some entrepreneurs who have bots that check Disney ressies and snap them up as soon as they are cancelled so they can sell them.

That's my theory. It really makes the most sense, and a CM here has confirmed that a few certain people have the ability to overbook dining reservations.

They always take a credit card, but they only need it once per call.

The folks with bots checking for reservations have to actually check for each individual reservation, so it's unlikely they'd be checking for that specific reservation at that specific moment.

I will add that we took a belt and suspenders approach to getting a CRT reservation that somebody was dropping.

The person that had the reservation initiated a conference call with Disney and me. At the same time my DH was on the website searching for the reservation. A few moments after the Agent canceled the original reservation DH was able to snag it. Then we waited to see what the Agent had to say and we all had a good laugh because the poor lady felt so bad that she wasn't able to get it for us but was as happy as us when she heard the good news.

I tried to modify an adr. The CM said she couldn't, and told me to just notify whoever was at the podium. :confused3

I tried to coordinate a BOG with someone and same thing happened. POOF it was "gone."

I'm glad I have one already, but was hoping for a better time. I think I'm ready to give up on that!

Hit the nail on the head with this. It is currently an issue that Disney is apparently looking into.

It must be fairly recent too because as of a few months ago neither I nor a fellow AP Holder were having issues. She even managed snagging reservations at Be Our Guest for odd hours/days multiple times.

So if I have a reservation for 4 and only 2 can make it should I bother trying to modify?

Given the chaos surrounding the reservation system at the moment, I would say no. Especially since you have extra seats versus not enough.

She probably knew the hassle could be more than it is worth. I was on the phone for 30 minutes just moving from 5 to 4. Shame we can't reduce our party size online without losing our original reservation.

I tried to pick up a BOG lunch reservation for 11/18 and was searching and searching, but it never popped up. Another DISer said she magically found a BOG lunch on 11/18 while searching for CRT. She lucked out and I missed it.

It does seem harder lately. I coordinated with someone for a CM right to where we were on pm back and forth with me on my phone and canceling on my computer. It was for a party of 9 and she never saw anything come up

Yeah if 1 less person is going, just leave it alone. It is not even worth letting it back into the system for even 10 seconds before it can get snatched up. I also think it has something to do with overbooking at some restaurants...

On my 180 day mark I had picked up an adr for dinner at Garden Grill for my friend, since her arrival day fell on my last day. I have been holding the adr for her for months and we were eventually going to coordinate so she can get it instead of it being in my name- now I wish I would have just left in in my name and on my MDE. I was at her house the other day showing her the ropes to do fastpasses since this is their first family trip.. So we decided since we were both together in person, I'd cancel thg Garden Grill adr right there while she was logged on and ready to get it. I cancel she clicks find table and "No tables available" comes up! We were in the same room, on at the same time and it never showed so it had to be overbooked that night or something because there is no way someone got to it before her lol. I felt so bad after that and of course other dinner options were slim to none, but we eventually found something so they are now going to the Trattoria on the Boardwalk.. which may actually work out better for an arrival day dinner since they are staying at BC and can just stroll on over and relax. But still, I couldn't believe it!

I thought if you had an ADR for 3 people and only 2 show up, you would get charged the $10 for the one no show. Did I make this up in my head? thanks

I coordinated 3 ADRs that I was dropping yesterday and none of the people were able to pick them up. I felt so bad!

No, even if only 1 person shows up, you won't be charged the fee. It has to be a complete no show, where none of you show up at all.

WE have dinner for 7 booked at sic-fi and 5 of us are wanting to go to FW instead. So I'm thinking of just letting the 2 go and just tell the hostess the rest are no-show. We did the same thing on our last trip and there was no problem at all (Cape May). I'm not about to touch the reservation for fear we'd loose the entire thing!
