Check the settings on the dryer to make sure its on "heat."

I once paid an obscene amount to an appliance repair guy to come out, check why my dryer wasn't heating and turn the knob from "cool" to "heat." DUH! I would blame it on youth, but I wasn't very young at the time!

A rope and a bag of clothes pins will set ya back around $10 (if you go for the snazzy pins!). It's not great, but it'll do in a pinch! Economic too!
