Now the cuts have hit Club 33 !!

Wow. I was actually embarassed when I recently took some clients to Club 33. I'm not a member anymore (my family has been for decades) but my partner is a member so I "leech" off of him when I need to impress someone. Not anymore.

Club 33 used to have the best buffet in town for lunch. You could keep filling your plates with crab, shrimp, lamb, beef, etc and you could have as much as you wanted from the dessert table...and it was a VERY nice selection of desserts, too. All of this class cost a mere $45-48.

Well, that's all changed now. There is no longer a buffet for lunch. Now, you can choose from 4 entree's, ala Avalon Cove. The portions that they brought borderlined on ridiculously small. It was about a cup of food. There were no seconds. Instead of the dessert table of the past, now the waiter brings a few selections in wine flutes. (Chocolate mousse, cookies, pudding, etc.) They also placed multiple spoons in the middle of table and told everyone to "share." This cost us $50 per person. (not including drinks.) I had kind of blown up Club 33 to my clients and all I can say is at the end of the day, there were quite a few chuckles. (It reminded me of the chuckles that I heard when DCA opened. Cheap, cheap, cheap)

I would now say that the Blue Bayou is as good or better than Club 33. If you are considering joining, don't do it for lunch. I can't comment on dinner, but lunch was a HUGE letdown.

You know, maybe Comcast wouldn't be so bad. They couldn't ruin the magic anymore than the current bearer's of Walt's torch.

Wow! That's so disappointing. My sister is a member and I've dined there for lunch and always thought it was the best lunch in the park. Wonder if they've gotten rid of the Sunday character buffet too.

Ive heard people talk about it and frankly Im glad I got to go last summer where I could have a bite of everything and not be stuck to one thing (not an adventurous eater)

Oh yeah...i forgot to mention...the choices are:

Pasta

New York steak with vegetables. (No potato and there were literally about 4 or 5 green beans)

Something called Monkfish (which the waiter explained as "like lobster"...you know, at Club 33 I would think that you would GET lobster and not something called "Monk Fish")
We had a member of our group order the Monk Fish and he had to send it back...he said that it was "gross". Surprise surprise.

Lamb with the same 4 or 5 green beens.

That was all.

$50.

Wow.

We were there in Jan. and heard that changes were coming.

Glad you posted - my DH can generally get us in through a work contact - but too often ends up paying for it (you owe me kind of thing)

I don't think we'll even bother next trip - just keep the memories of the way it used to be!
