Now that I have these Alien Green Paint Chips...

So, now that I've been hanging out a lot on the DIS I realized that I HAD to go to Home Depot and pick up some Alien Green Mickey head paint chips, so I did. I went in and grabbed a bunch today, and there was this lady working who kind of gave me an evil eye, but whatever. So, now what am I supposed to do with them exactly?? Hang them from the (rented for my 7 year old DD) stroller?? Put them on my fanny pack?? I'm not exactly sure!! :teacher:

I plan to tape a couple into the windows of my hotel room... hang one from my stroller... and another from my bag! (And I have not told DH this yet. When we get there and I whip out these lime green Mickey's he's going to have NO IDEA what they mean and he's going to think I'm insane when he sees what I do with them!) :rotfl2:

I usually cut the Mickey heads off the card, glue two together back to back then on one side I write Disney World 2006 and on the other side I put
Disboards

I pin one to Dh's fanny pack,1 to my camera bag and 1 to DD's backpack.

Me, too, except that I laminate mine. We attached them to our resort room door, my lanyard, DH's backpack, and DD's lanyard. I put my DISboard name on one side and "The DIS Rulas" on the other. DD's had our resort name and DH's cellphone # on it, in case we got seperated from her.

I had several other DISers come up to me and introduce themselves last fall. It was great getting to know some other crazy Disney fanatics :teeth: !

Don't forget using them as luggage tags! Cut two of them off the cards and glue them back-to-back. Write whatever info you want on them, them laminate and hole-punch!

We laminate them and put our names on them and stick them to our Mickey Mouse Club back pack.

We were at Home Depot a few weeks ago and I grabbed some of these. My DH said, "Um, what are you doing? We are not painting the bedroom that color." I told him it was for our trip and I tried to explain what I was going to do with them.

I got the "deer in the headlights" look from him. I hope to see some of DISers there! 9/23-9/30

I think my hubby would think I was insane. He thinks the DIS boards is an unhealthy addiction anyway.

I never even thought about putting our cell phone# on DD's tag...Great Idea! Thanks!

Okay, I give up - how do you cut around the Mickey head without cutting off any of the color and/or without leaving any backing showing?

You can gently glide the edges of the Mickey head away from the cardboard backing (I just ran my fingernail between the Mickey head and cardboard backing), then with a small scissors cut the cardboard just inside the Mickey head so it doesn't show.

Does that make sense??

I used them as tags for our backpacks and carryons. I put my dis name on one side and our real names/#s on the other. A few people said hi to us when they saw the tags. We met one family on the boat from MK to GF for dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Their DD was close in age to my DD and the two of them really hit it off. We ended up hanging out with them in the GF lobby for about an hour after dinner so the girls could dance in their princess costumes. It was great. I am so glad I put the Lime Green Mickey on our bags. What a treat to meet so many nice people.

Thanks for the various ideas...I tend to agree that the DIS is an unhealthy obsession. But it's one I plan on partaking in almost continuously for the next 14 days. I really hope I might meet a fellow DISer or two on our upcoming trip.

Yes, it does - thank you. I ended up tearing most of the backings off (similar to your wise suggestion, but less refined AND there are creases in a lot of my Mickey heads), so now I simply MUST visit a different Home Depot... fortunately, I live in an apparent 'golden triangle' of HDs :)

I love the idea of putting the mickey tags on our luggage. I made DS a lanyard tag with his name and our contact info, goodness forbid we get separated. What a great idea to put a Dis mickey head on the front. Maybe a fellow Diser will aid my little one in finding a CM-just in case. Great ideas!

Let's see with our Mickey Heads we laminated a few to use as tags on our diaper bag and back pack, extra luggage tag that we needed. I also made a color copy of one on a piece of paper and drew some characters around it as our hotel room sign...OH and I also attached two to pieces of paper with a pic of our kiddos and asking that if people accidentally 'borrow' our stroller to please return it to guest services asap! And then we laminated those and are attaching them to our strollers with zip ties.

I have one extra mickey head that I found while cleaning up some papers so I'm not sure what I will do with the extra.

Is there a 12 step program?

The tip I used is to let the chips sit in warm water for a few minutes. The backing will peel right off.

The only downside is the mickey head will curl, but if you are laminating, that won't be a problem once you get two of them together!
