Now Showing...Our first trip out of the Loonybin! May 2011 *Completed:7/27*

Enjoying your reviews. Thanks for taking the time to write them. We have only had CP for lunh/dinner. May have to try b'fast. looking forward to sci fi review. (and why you canceled via napoli - I am on the fence on that one myself - canceled it last trip)

strange experience at Chef's - we also liked our food there but the service - not so good - not scary like yours just our server disappeared for long periods of time.

Glad you are enjoying the reviews. We would do CP again for breakfast because the food was good, but even better....you get into the park early!! That was just so cool!!

May 3 – Liberty Tree Tavern

We had an ADR for 12:30pm. We arrived about 10 minutes early and found a somewhat crowded waiting area. After checking in, we found one seat, so dd7 sat on my lap, dd15 sat on the floor and DH stood. We waited about 5-7 minutes and then we were seated.

We got our drinks ordered. The one really nice thing about LTT was that they let me order Evian water for my drink!! No yucky tap water!! DD7 got a water bottle with her meal too. DD15 ordered a lemonade and dh got root beer.

For appetizers:

DD7 got the kids garden salad.
ltt4.jpg

This was not good. The salad was made with shredded lettuce, some shredded carrots, 2 cucumbers, and grape tomato. The Ranch dressing did not taste good at all. My dd LOVES salad and usually eats it with artichoke, mushroom, etc. She would not eat more after the first bite.

DD15 got the Declaration salad.
ltt2.jpg

This was about the same as the kids, but regular lettuce and more cucumber/tomatoes. She also got the Ranch dressing, which she did not like either. She took a couple bites and that is it.

DH ordered the Clam Chowder.
ltt3.jpg

This was ok. We thought it was fine, but not great. We lived in Maine for awhile and this did not even come close to others we have had. But for Florida, at a Theme park, it wasn’t too bad. The clams were not gritty or overly chewy. It was WAY too heavy for such a hot day though, so he did not eat much.

I got the Tavern Fried Cheese.
ltt.jpg

We all really liked the fried cheese curds. The mozzarella sticks were just like out of the freezer section. We didn’t finish those, but the cheese curds were gone quickly. We don’t really eat fried food but these were not really greasy at all. The sauce was just basic marinara sauce.

For entrees:

Dd7 ordered the kids mac and cheese.
ltt5.jpg

It was not the best mac and cheese. The noodles were way overcooked and it had a fake cheese taste. She did not eat more than a bite. She ended up sharing with me instead.

Dd15 ordered the Angus Cheeseburger with cheddar and bacon.
ltt8.jpg

She ordered this medium well with fruit instead of fries. It came WAY undercooked. The first bite you could see that the inside was red. Not pink, red. I told her that we could flag down the waitress and send it back, but she didn’t want too. I guess she was just not that hungry, plus hot and tired. She ate the fruit, pickle and the bacon off the burger, as well as some of our food.

I got the Freedom Pasta with chicken.
ltt6.jpg

This was GREAT!! I really loved it. DH and DD7 ate some of it too! It was a HUGE portion. Even with us all, we did not end up finishing it. I am not a huge fan of mushrooms, so dd7 took care of those for me. The flavor was great. The noodles were cooked perfectly too!!

DH got the Pot Roast.
ltt9.jpg

OMG!! This was THE BEST MEAL!! This was dh’s favorite (maybe mine too) of our trip. The meat was super tender and flavorful! The veggies were great, as was the mashed potatoes! It was a surprise how good it was for food at a theme park. We all loved it. It was hard to stop eating it! :)

For desserts:

Dd7 got the kids sundae.
ltt10.jpg

It was fine. A basic sundae. She ate a little and also some of ours.

The rest of us ordered the Chocolate Terrine.
ltt11.jpg

We took one of them to go and shared the other two. It was great! It was sort of like a thick chocolate mousse. It was cold and very rich. One of our favorite desserts!!

We were hoping that since we were leaving right after lunch, that the to –go one would make it back to Pop. But no such luck. As we were walking by the Exposition Hall, a CM came out and said that there was no wait for Mickey/Minnie. The girls and I stepped in real quick. We told dh that we would meet him at the exit. When we came out in the gift shop, he was not there. We found him outside in the heat! I could not figure out why he didn’t wait inside with the AC. I guess we took longer than he expected so he thought he had missed us. By then, the dessert was completely melted! We just tossed it in the trash.

We would go back here for lunch in a heartbeat!! The only problem we really had was with the restrooms. They are upstairs and then there is a narrow stairway up to the two doors. (one men’s, one women’s) The women’s only had two stalls and the room was VERY small! Only one or two people could wait inside the room. Everyone else had to wait in the narrow stairway(blocking the men’s room) We waited for about 15 minutes for the bathroom! I think that that is crazy for how many people they are seating.

The total for here: $112.03
The total so far: $750.86

Card Problems!

As I mentioned before, DH KTTW card was not working for the dining plan or charging to the room. We went up the first night and they said they fixed it. Then on the 3rd (next day), not only did DH's card still not work, but now mine was not working either! :headache:

So after lunch at LTT (thank goodness our dd15's card was working for the dining plan.), we went back to Pop and went through the whole thing again. This time they rebooked our package and gave us all new cards. We went straight over to Pop food court and got the refillable mugs and I got a chocolate croissant and DH used his card to get a muffin. They both worked but the recipt showed that we only had 22 snack credits left!! :headache:

BACK to the front desk and we went through the whole thing again. Finally, it seemed to be working.

We went back to our room to get cleaned up for dinner. (most of our "relax" time was spent at the front desk) We were going to Kona Cafe for dinner and then we were going to watch Wishes from the beach.

Total for snacks: $5.73
Total for mugs: $59.60

Total so far: $816.19

May 3 – Kona Café Dinner

We were running a bit behind due to the card issues. We had an ADR for 7:00pm but we arrived about 10 minutes late. I did not realize until we sat down that I had forgotten my camera. These pictures were taken with my daughters P&S. The corner we were in was dark and we had some stress (as you will see soon) that lead to us not getting the best pictures. Some did not turn out at all.

We got our drinks ordered. This is another place that lets you order something besides soda for your drink. We got 3 of the mega-berry smoothies - $4.69ea. We were very excited. :cool1: We let dd7 get the Tinkerbell punch - $6.49.
IMAG0042.jpg

DSCN9497.jpg

This is where we had our accident. The waiter (Ratana) brought us out our drinks, (I was sitting next to dd15) I handed dd15 her smoothie and then I grabbed mine. I was pulling my elbow back, to set my drink down, when my elbow hit dd15’s smoothie and knocked it off the table on to the bench seat. It then rolled off the seat and fell under the table. So, here we are, with smoothie on the seat, on my waist pack, (it was sitting between us on the seat) and on the floor. Luckily we did not get much on us, just a few spots. I felt AWFUL!! :guilty: I kept apologizing to dd15 and the waiter. Ratana was great! He just kept saying “No problem, don’t worry, nothing happened.” Since the glass was on the floor at my feet, I leaned over and picked it up. I discovered that it had broken on the bottom of the stem. I was holding the top of the stem and Ratana reached to get it from me. I told him to watch out, that it was broken, but I guess he did not hear me. He grabbed the bottom of the glass and cut himself. :sad1: At that point I just felt so bad that I wanted to just leave. We got everything cleaned up and everyone calmed down and started looking at the menu to see what we wanted.

Our waiter brought out some of their Hawaiian bread with macadamia nut butter.
DSCN9498.jpg

OMG!! This bread was FANTASTIC!!! The bread was soft and warm. The butter was great too. The macadamias gave it such a great flavor. There were a couple of rather large pieces of macadamia nuts, but it was still lovely. We ended up eating two of the breads. We could have skipped the appetizers all together and just had the bread!

For appetizers:

DD7 got the kids chicken noodle soup - $1.75.
We did not get a picture of this. Sorry.
This was good. It was a basic chicken soup. She ate a few bites of it.

DD15 got the Kona Salad - Mixed greens, Maytag bleu cheese, fresh fruit, red onions, and smoked almonds, with a citrus vinaigrette (without the blue cheese.) - $8.49
IMAG0045.jpg

She seemed to like the salad. She ate an ok amount. We were still rattled about the spill.

DH and I ordered the Sticky Wings for two - Glazed chicken wings with a tangy mustard drizzle and toasted sesame seeds - $12.99.
IMAG0044.jpg

These were VERY good. Everyone had some. I am not a real wing person. I think that they are a waste of time for the amount of mess and meat that you get. However, these were not too bad. They had a decent amount of meat on the bone. They were messy, but still pretty good. The sauce/glaze was fantastic.

For entrees:

Dd7 ordered the kids Hot dog with fries - $5.09.
The picture of this did not come out.
She did not eat more that a bite of this. She did not really care for it. She ended up sharing with DH and I again.

Dd15 ordered the Teriyaki style New York Strip - Sirloin Strip grilled with pineapple teriyaki glaze served with sticky rice and stir fried brocolini - $28.99
DSCN9500.jpg

She really liked this steak. She loves the teriyaki flavor and it was cooked exactly like she requested it. The rice was ok, but a little bland. She like the brocollini as well. She thought the pineapple gave it a great taste. She was just sorry that she was too full to finish it.

I got the Pan-Asian Noodles with Shrimp - $17.99.
DSCN9499.jpg

This was really good!! It did not match the description on wdwinfo.com. It had a soy based sauce and no pineapples. I really loved it. DD7 was also a huge fan. She love shrimp and loves the Asian noodles! It had great flavor and the veggies were well cooked. (not too soft). I would order this again.

DH got the Shrimp and Scallops - Panko breaded shrimp and pan-seared scallops with sticky rice and Ponzu, spicy guava, passion fruit, and wasabi cream sauces. - $20.99.
IMAG0046.jpg

DH really liked this. He likes scallops and thought that these were cooked well. The shrimp was good, but we like grilled better than fried. The sauces were great. He loved the wasabi cream sauce. He pretty much finished this dish and has already mentioned that we need to go back to Kona.

Because of our spill, our meal ended up taking longer than we expected. It was almost time to head to the beach for Wishes. We ordered our desserts to-go so we would make the fireworks. We figured we could eat them while we were watching. After we ordered, DH took the girls out to find a spot, while I waited for our check and to-go bag.

For desserts: (sorry, not pictures because we were outside and it was WAY too dark)
Dd7 got the kids Fruit salad - $1.75.
It was fine. It was a basic fruit salad. We saved it for breakfast later.

DH & dd15 ordered the White Chocolate Cheesecake - $5.49ea.
They liked this. They ended up sharing with dd7. They thought it was a good cheesecake but not fantastic.

I had the Kilahuea Torte - $5.49
I really liked this. I bet it would be even better if it was still warm. Everyone had a bite and thought that this was the better dessert.

We enjoyed sitting on the beach, but would not choose to watch the fireworks from there again.

We will be going back to Kona. Hopefully our next visit will not be so exciting. We felt so bad for our waiter that we made sure to give him a good tip.

The total for here: $136.93 (for the dining plan)
**we paid $6.92 OOP for the Tinkerbell punch. This is not included in either totals.**
The total so far: $953.12

**Next we were going to order our dessert. When the waitress came by, we told her that we were done with the entrees. DD7 still had most of her food on the plate (tomatoes and some green beans were gone.). The waitress gave her a hard time about it. She kept telling her to eat more. I just kept repeating that we were done and she ignored me and told dd7 that she needed to eat more. It was very annoying and dd7 was starting to get confused and upset. (She had eating a good amount of our food.) Finally the waitress took her plate away but she was tsking and shaking her head like she was disappointed in dd7. I talked to my daughter and told her that she did great and not to worry. I just said that the waitress was from a different county and was having a hard time understanding us. (This was not the case, she understood us fine, but I did not want dd7 to think she had done something wrong.)

Wow your waiter interactions were really weird at Chefs, all of them! But especially the one quoted above. I would have been SO angry if someone had done that to my child! That is not ANY of their business at all to be telling your child that.

Nice reviews!

Thanks! We did think it was a bit presumptuous of her. My dd7 was really confused by the waitress. I think she was happy when lunch was over. :rotfl:

May 4 – Pop Food Court/Tusker House Breakfast

We were headed to Animal Kingdom for their EMH @ 8am. We grabbed a muffin from the Pop food court to share while we waited for the bus.

Blueberry Muffin - $2.76
Snack credits left - 30

We arrived at Animal Kingdom and DH ran to get fastpasses for Expedition Everest for him and dd15. The girls and I headed for the Safari. We took our time and got there just before DH. We rode the safari (GREAT!) and then headed towards Tusker House.

We had a 9am ADR, but we were able to check in about 15 minutes early. After a wait, we got our picture with Donald Duck, and then were seated. If you walk into Tusker house and take an immediate left and then another immediate left, that is the room we sat in. It was on the small side and was VERY LOUD! :scared1:

Our waiter came by and gave us some juice. I have heard it called jungle juice, frunch, etc. I call it FANTASTIC!! Seriously, I usually cannot drink juice because of my IBS, but this was great. Did not upset my tummy or give me heartburn. Very mild, as far as acidity goes. We drank our fill.

Here are some of our plates.

Dd7
tuskerb2.jpg

She had a Mickey waffle, grapes, bacon, an apple turnover, and a donut with chocolate frosting/sprinkles. (Wow, I am feeling pretty bad about how unhealthy this breakfast is looking.) She loved the Mickey waffles and grapes. The bacon was Disney bacon. She did not end up eating the donut and the apple turnover was a bit dry.

DD15
tuskerb3.jpg

On the smaller plate, she has fruit, cottage cheese, and a cheese Danish. She has discovered a love of danishes on this trip. The fruit was fantastic. Very ripe and juicy. The cottage cheese was just like from the store. One the bigger plate she had a Mickey waffle, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and tater-tots. She liked the waffle, and the eggs/bacon were fine. The sausage was very good. Her and DH both really liked the sausage. The tater-tots were very bland. They needed some serious seasoning or something.

DH
tuskerb4.jpg

He had bacon, sausage, cinnamon roll, cheese Danish, pineapple, roasted potatoes, and some kind of quiche dish. He loved the sausage, pineapple and the quiche the most. Everything was pretty good here. He did go back later and get some of the ham, which we all liked.

Mine
tuskerb.jpg

I had two Mickey waffles, scrambled eggs, ham, roasted potatoes, biscuit, cornbread and at the top you can see the grapes, muffin, and chocolate croissant. I, of course, still loved the Mickey waffles. The ham was great, very moist. The biscuit was very dry but the cornbread was ok. Grapes were great but the muffin and croissant were a little on the dry side.

We liked our meal but the room we were in was so very echoey. It was impossible to talk. We rushed through our meal to get out. Sadly, we sat in the same room (almost at the same table) for lunch.

The total for here: $87.29

The total so far: $1043.17

May 4 –Tusker House Lunch

We were back at Tusker House for lunch. Our ADR was for 1pm. When we arrived, it was PACKED! There was no more buzzers and no seats. They were telling people to wait around the corner and only have one of your party stand nearby. We waited about 15 minutes. As I said in the earlier post, we sat in the same room.

Our waiter came by and took our drink order (how I was wishing for more juice). It was very hot that day, so we all stuck with water. Then we were off to the buffet.

Here are some of our plates.

Dd7
tuskerL4.jpg

She had some sliced cheese and deli ham, some fruit, fried plantains, a banana(shown in my picture), and some desserts. She did not care for the plantains, but everything else was pretty good. She ended up taking bites from all of our stuff. The desserts were a chocolate lava type cake and a chocolate cup with raspberry mousse in it. The Raspberry dessert was, by far, the best there. We all went back for more of those and would most likely choose lunch here just for that. :rotfl:

DD15
tuskerL3.jpg

She started eating before I got back with my plate, so her sandwich she made is gone. She had a ham and cheese sandwich that must have been pretty good considering how fast she ate it. On her plate you see a Caesar salad, pickle, lemon square and the raspberry mousse dessert. She did not care for the lemon square at all. Everything else was gobbled up.

DH
TuskerL6.jpg

He had some salmon, pearl couscous, some type of shrimp dish (seafood stew I think), a chicken curry dish, curry rice, roast beef, and I am not sure about the two fried things on his plate. :confused3 He really liked most everything. The roast beef and seafood were great. He was not a big fan of the pearl couscous. (I tried it and did NOT like it at all. It had a VERY weird texture in my mouth.)

His dessert plate:
TuskerL9.jpg

Chocolate chip cookies, a lemon/mandarin orange tart, two of the raspberry mousse, baklava, and fruit cobbler with vanilla sauce (I think it was cherry). The cookies were hard. The cobbler was very good. The baklava was dry and did not have much flavor. We all loved the raspberry mousse desserts and the tart was also very good.

My plates:
TuskerL2.jpg

I had cucumber salad, orzo pasta, some type of fish (tilapia I think), a vegetable samaosa, and chicken. I really liked the orzo pasta. It had spinach, kalamata olives, feta and tomatoes. It was delish! It was my first time trying feta. It was ok, but a few bites had a lot of feta and it over powered the pasta. I just made sure it was mixed up better. The cucumber salad was also very good. Everything else was just ok. I did not care for the samaosas, they were very dry and had no flavor.

My second plate:
TuskerL7.jpg

You can also see the plate of pitas and hummus I got for us all to share. (Also, dd7’s banana). On my plate I have more of the orzo pasta, mashed potatoes and gravy, roasted potatoes, and a roll. The orza past was still great, but my real find was the gravy. :lovestruc OMG!! Seriously the best gravy ever! It was so good. The potatoes were pretty good too, but they were really just there so I did not look like a freak by eating just the gravy. I wish I had tried these on my first plate! The roasted potatoes tasted like they were left over from breakfast and the roll was rock hard.

Dessert plate:
TuskerL8.jpg

I got the chocolate chip cookies, carrot spice cake, brownie, raspberry mousse and the chocolate lava type cake. The cookies were still hard and the brownie was pretty dry too. The spice cake was great! You could not really taste the carrot in it, which is fine to me, but it did add a nice sweetness to the spice cake. The lava cake was pretty good too, but my favorite is the raspberry mousse. (I am sure you have gathered from this report, that we loved the mousse) :lovestruc

We would go back but I think we would stick with lunch, if only for the desserts. :lmao:

The total for here: $83.03

The total so far: $1126.20

May 4 - 1900 Park Fare Dinner

After Tusker House, we finished touring around Animal Kingdom. It was pretty hot and humid that day, so we stopped and used three snack credits for some bottled water. (We had already finished all the water we had brought with us.)

Total for here: $7.99
Snack credits left: 27

Then we caught the bus back to Pop. DH had started feeling sick this day. I think it was some type of allergy/sinus thing. This impacted the rest of our trip. Dd7 started feeling badly on the 8th. Because of this, I was not as good about taking pictures of our food. Many times, I forgot my camera and had to use my dd15's, so some of the photos are not as good.

Anyways...after we freshened up we drove over to the Grand Floridian for dinner at Park Fare. We pulled up to the guard shack and was informed that "we could valet park for $12 or self-park across the highway (insert vague hand wave here) oh, and there is no tram running at this time." Since I had no idea were he meant by his hand wave and across the highway comment, we chose to valet park. We went in and checked in. Our ADR was for 6:45pm and we were right on time. We skipped the picture and was seated right away. It was pretty packed inside. We all got some water and then headed up to the buffet. I don't have pictures of this one. With DH feeling poorly, I had walked out without the camera and the characters were pretty much at our table as soon as we got back with our plates.

Overall, we did not really care for the food here. It was our least favorite buffet. I had some of the ham, mashed potatoes and gravy and neither of those were very good. I did try the strawberry soup and thought it tasted like melted smoothie. We will most likely not be doing this buffet again.

Total for here: $134.15
Total so far: (including the above snacks): $1268.34

Just wanted to say hi and let you know I'm following along, loving and really appreciating your reviews!

How did you find the character interaction at 1900 PF dinner? We are thinking of trying it next time.

TIA

The dinner character interaction was not as good as I had heard. They came by and did the picture/autograph thing and then moved on. We did hear some screaming at one point but it was coming from another room that we could not see. I had high hopes for this meal, due to the reviews I had read, but it did not live up to the hype. It was pretty packed when we were there, so I don't know if that had any effect. We will be skipping this one next time. We had better interaction at Akershus for breakfast.

I will be posting my review of the Park Fare Breakfast soon.

Thanks for all your reports! I can't make dining reservations until the end of November. Looking forward to more reports!

Just came over from my TR. I noticed your link at the bottom of your post. And since we very rarely do the sit-downs (money and time being the issues), I thought it would be great to read some reviews to see if we might make an exception on our next trip and maybe do one or two table services. I am glad I came over. Great reviews and pics! I think maybe we might even make ressies for Kona on our next trip ... and maybe even breakfast at Tusker. The food looks really good and the prices aren't all that bad. Plus, at our ages, we are now more inclined to slow down and take our time through the parks. :lmao: We use to be more the 'commando' visitors and could not see wasting time at sit-down meals. Funny how age can change your outlook. :thumbsup2 Am looking forward to more reviews.

 I am so sorry that I have been slacking on my dining report. I have been trying to get things ready for the new school year. I am determined to finish this report this weekend!

Just a reminder, there are not as many pictures at this point in our trip.

Thanks for your patience!!

May 5 - Pop Breakfast

We were headed to MK for the EMH. We decided to just grab some things at Pop for breakfast.

DH got bottled water and a croissant. He really liked the croissants that they had here. It was fresh too.

Dd15 got an apple juice and a cherry turnover. She loved it. This trip was the first time the girls had danishes and turnovers.

Dd7 got an orange juice and a chocolate croissant. She really liked these. She actually liked them better than the one we had at the bakery in France (Epcot)

I got a bottled water and a blueberry muffin. The muffin was really fresh and tasty.

I have to say, we always had good bakery items at Pop. We bought these just after 6:30am and everything was nice and fresh!

Total here: $22.64
Snack credits used: 8
Snack credits left: 19
Total so far: $1290.98

May 5 - Snacking @ MK

We got a lot done during the EMH at MK. After doing all of Fantasyland, we headed to Tomorrowland. The girls were feeling parched so we stopped at Enchanted Grove for some Raspberry Lemonade Slushies.

Total here: $7.86
Snack Credits used: 2
Snack Credits left: 17

After going through Tomorrowland, we stopped for a bottled water to refil our Hydro Flasks.
Total here: 2.66
Snack credits used: 1
Snack credits left: 16

Our plan for the day had been to do the morning at MK and then to head to Epcot. We had ADR's for 2pm at Via Napoli. By Noon, we decided that we were going to cancel our ADR and just finish up what we wanted at MK and then head back to Pop for a break.

Before we left MK, we stopped at the Main Street Bakery. We picked up some items to take back to the room (since our last day of the DxDDp was the 6th) and also got some things to share right away.

We got:
Blueberry muffin
Chocolate chip brownie
Cheesecake
Chocolate cake
2 Cinnamon Rolls
2 bottled waters

We ate these items right away:
1 cinnamon roll: We LOVED this! I really like cinnamon rolls and was worried after reading some negative reviews on here, but I thought it was great. It was warm, soft and full of gooey yumminess.
Cheesecake: I don't eat cheesecake but everyone else thought that this was just ok. They don't even remember what kind of cheesecake it was, so it was not that memorable.
Chocolate cake: This was very rich. It was really good, but we only finished it because we were all sharing.
Everything else we took back to the room for later. We liked everything that we ordered, but my favorite was the cinnamon roll.

Total here: $27 (estimated because I had to look up prices and could not find a price for the brownie so I guessed $3)
Snack credits used: 8
Snack credits left: 8
Total so far: $1328.50

May 5 - Pop Food Court Lunch

We got back to Pop and when to the food court for some lunch.

DH got Beef Stir-fry with Bottled water and a brownie sundae. He thought that the stir-fry was pretty good. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was at Pop. Of course, we did not go into it with high expectations.

His total was: $17.02

Dd15 go the Turkey Ciabatta Sandwich with bottled water and a brownie sundae. We all loved the brownie sundaes and had them a few more times during this trip. The sandwich was good but the bread was harder than my dd was expecting. It was a little hard to eat with her braces.

Her total was: $16.81

Dd7 had the kids Lo Mein with grapes and apples and Milk. She loves these types of noodles and these were pretty good. Not great and they would not let me pay oop for shrimp to put on her noodles. The grapes and apples were really good too.

I had the chicken alfredo with bottled water and brownie sundae. I liked the noodles and sauce but did not care for the chicken. Everyone else thought it was ok, but I don't like it when they put sauce on things that have been breaded. I think it is a texture thing. I just cannot stand soggy breading. I just took the chicken off and ate the noodles and sauce. Dd7 shared my brownie sundae with me. It was HUGE! This first one we had was the best one. The others after this were just not quite as good for various reasons.

We saved all our bottled water for later and just filled our mugs up with ice and water from the drink station. (We noticed that the water here tasted better than most of the restaurants that we went to.)

Our total: $22.23
Total for here: $56.06
Total so far: $1384.56

May 5 - Norway Snacks / Rose & Crown

After a bit of a break at Pop, we headed over to Epcot. As we were walking the World Showcase, we stopped in Norway to try some snacks. We shared a Cloudberry Horn and a fruit cup. (dd7 LOVES fruit cups) I thought that the cloudberry horn was pretty good. I am not usually one for creme in my desserts. I don't like eclairs or Boston creme, etc. But this was nice. The creme was light with a delicate flavor. The pastry part reminded me of those cookies you get in a tin around Christmas time, (butter/shortbread type cookies) with raw sugar sprinkled on them. The fruit cup was nice too.

Total here: $6.90
Snack credits used: 2
Snack credits left: 6

Then we walked the rest of the way around and ended up in the UK just in time for our 7:45pm ADR at The Rose and Crown. We got a GREAT seat on the patio facing the lake. Perfect viewing for Illuminations! We had a great CM named Terri (great name too! :lmao:)

We were allowed to get smoothies for our drink here. We all got strawberry except dd7, who got chocolate. These were more like milkshakes than smoothies but either way they were good. I cannot find the smoothies on their menu so I don't have an accurate price. I am going to price them at $4.00.
RnC.jpg

RnC2.jpg

Then we ordered our appetizers:
DH and I shared a Appetizer Trio to Share.

I LOVED the Potato Leek soup! It was fantastic! I did not like the beef pasty at all and the scotch egg was just ok. So I ate all the soup and everyone else ate the rest. Next time, I am just going straight for the soup!

Dd15 got the Mixed Green Salad.

She thought it was good. She did not really care for the scone/crouton things.

Dd7 got the Carrots and celery with ranch
RnC5.jpg

As you can see, they forgot the ranch dressing. No one really ate this. There was so much other food.

We also got bread & butter.

Dd7 loved that the butter was shaped like the Epcot ball. The bread was nice and warm. Crusty/chewy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.

Now onto the entrees:
Dh ordered the Surf and Turf
RnC8.jpg

He loved the fish and the beef. The sauce was really yummy. He got roasted potatoes with his and they tasted good with the sauce. Neither of us liked the yorkshire pudding. (Back to my soggy bread issue) :rotfl:

DD15 and I both had the Bangers and Mash
RnC9.jpg

This was really good also. Unfortunately, we were both pretty stuffed by this time and did not do justice to this dish. The best part for me was the mash and the sauce. I did not eat too much of the cabbage, as that is an IBS issue for me. The bangers were pretty good but quite the best I ever had.

Dd 7 had the kids fish and chips.

This is THE MEAL for dd7. The Fish that she has STILL not stopped talking about. :lmao:
She has already stated that we MUST go back for our next trip. The fries and peas were ok, but the fish was "the best food ever" according to dd.

We watched Illuminations and then it was time for dessert. We decided to get ours to-go. Dh, dd15 & I got the Chocolate Scotch Cake and dd7 got a fruit salad. The cakes were fantastic even 2 days later. They held up great. Next time we try for a 7:30pm ADR.

The total for here: $128.34 (remember that this is with pricing the smoothies @ $4)
Total so far: $1512.90

May 6 - 1900 Park Fare Breakfast

Today was our last day with the DxDDp. It was also our anniversary!

We started the morning by sleeping in a bit. We had an ADR for 9am at Park Fare.

We arrived a few minutes early and opted to skip the picture. I ran into the restroom real quick and when I got out, they were already waiting for me. We did not like our table location as much as the location we had for dinner. We were right in the middle of the restaurant but it was in an awkward spot. There was just not enough room to be comfortable.

For some reason, I only have pictures of 2 of our plates.

We started with ordering drinks and choose water with lemon and hot tea. They brought out a tea box for us to choose from. This was a nice touch but the taste of the water really overwhelmed the tea. We had to add so much cream and sugar to disguise the flavor.

Here is a picture of DH's plate:

Biscuits and gravy, pineapple, grapes, croissant, sticky bun, hashbrown casserole, ham, bacon, and sausage. DH and dd7 both agreed that Park Fare had the best bacon of the trip. He also liked the biscuits and gravy, as well as the ham. Everything else was good, but those things really stood out.

Here is my plate:

Scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuit, Mickey waffle, hasbrown casserole, blueberry muffin, and ham. I thought the ham was great, very flavorful. The eggs were some of the best of the trip (most places seemed to have runny scrambled eggs). The Mickey waffle was great, of course. I also liked the muffin. The sausage was not that great and I don't remember the hashbrowns.

We did not get pictures of the girls' plates.
I know that dd7 had Mickey waffles, bacon, ham and fruit. She loved it all.

If we decide to go back to Park fare again, we will most likely choose breakfast.

Total here: $79.84
Total so far: $1592.74
