NOW post and share your digital pics!! Great photos inside:)

San Diego last night. I am not sure I am pleased with this shot. Can't decide what I do not like.

Beautiful colors and I love the softness where the water hits the shore. It looks to me as if it might benefit from having the horizon leveled and perhaps a slight levels adjustment to brighten the dark areas a bit.

Lachesis, could it be that your horizon line isn't straight? I love the photo, but it feels like I need to tilt my head when I look at it. Maybe it's just me. :rolleyes1

See, I never know if the horizon should be straight or should the rocks/beach be straight. :( Drives me nuts.

We went to SD a couple weeks ago and the beachline was straight but again the horizon was not ;(

According to my tripod I was straight *grrrr* Maybe I wasn't ;(

i like this too rachel...maybe the rock you were on was crooked:confused3 but i like the colors, the lights in the background and the surf .

I took this one last night behind the place where we had my sister's birthday dinner, I really liked the colors of the water reflecting the sunset so I grabbed my camera. It's a tad bit darker than I would have liked but ok I think.

The pier going out into the river.

Sailboats enjoying a nice evening on the river.

Another one of the pier, I was trying to get more of the water.

It was a beautiful afternoon and DD was restless, so we walked over to the park and I took my camera. I was concentrating on composition and lighting. The sun was very bright that day.

Tell me what you think; all suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

I really like the one where she's dangling from something. The colors of her jacket, the sky, and her hair are great. The only thing is there's that diagonal line across the bottom that cuts the photo in an odd way. You might want to crop the photo just above the high point of that line. It should draw more attention to the best parts of the photo.

Just my $.02.

i like number 2 best also. the background ( sky ) is empty so she stands out and the diagonals on the side direct you to her face, but do agree if you just cut off that bit at the bottom cause it's a little distracting. is this an s3 camera( can't remember what you have)? the color is great!:thumbsup2

I agree with sk8belle and jann1033, like #2 the best but I think I might crop a bit off the left side of the pic also to get rid of that tan slide portion that runs along the side.

My rule of thumb: Unless you want to induce sea-sickness  , ALWAYS make sure the horizon is flat. :rotfl: pirate:

I agree, the tan slide does distract from that picture. I will definitely crop that puppy out. Jann, I'm using a Pentax K100. Thanks so much for the suggestions. :)

I got a DSLR for Christmas and have been obsessively taking pictures...I used to visit the Photography boards with envy- and now I can post pictures too!

Since I got my camera I have taken an enormous amount of pictures of birds and the moon...not sure why :) but here is a sampling- let me know what you think!

I really like the last picture. Great detail, the dew drops on the tree and the eye of the bird too. Thanks for sharing.

Good shots, I agree with the others for the pick of the group. Another couple of tips:
1. Try to compose your shots using the Rule of Thirds. Imagine a grid like a tic-tac-toe grid and position your main subject on the cross two lines. Avoid centering the subject unless it fills the frame totally.

2. If your subject is moving or you want to give the impression of movement, or just to make the viewer look in the direction the subject is looking or going, have some room in front of the subject. That would help your third shot.

3. If you have a circular polarizing filter it will help on the blue sky, water and foliage shots. Takes the glare off.

Thanks Kevin. I can see how your suggestion would improve the third shot. And, I will double check to be sure I'm using a polarizing filter. I thought I was, but now not sure.

Thanks again for your time! :)

you might know this so if so sorry but you have to not be looking into the sun( i think 90 degree angle is supposed to be best and turn the filter to get the best definition with a cp. the one sky( 2,slide) looks more vivid so that is why i wondered if maybe the angle wasn't the same on the less vibrant sky one( 3) or you forgot to turn the filter then?
