Has anyone that been to disney in the past few days know what movies are playing in the downtown disney cinema? I was going to take my DD and DS to see War of The Worlds, but Im not shure if it is playing there, and if anyone has seen the movie, is it appropiate for an 11 and 7 year old.

We took our 12 year old the day it came out and that's about the cut-off age, in my opinion. It's very intense. We all agreed it was an excellent movie, but DS and his 12 year old friend did use some 'coping techniques' (ok, they covered their eyes a bit in a few places!) during the show. They are boys who are used to the graphic 'war games' on computer, but the big screen makes the whole thing so much more intense.

We had a terrific discussion about it afterwards, picking out the things we thought were logistical errors and what could be 'possible' and I think that helped make it less 'real'.

I would be reluctant in the extreme to take a 7 year old, but you know your children best. They may be fine with it, but I thought some of the graphic 'blood and gore' was a bit much for younger children. If they are used to that sort of thing, it really is an excellent movie.

^Thankyou for that link

I might have to tell my DW to take the youngest one to a different movie. I don't want him scared in the happiest place on earth.

I would agree with the above, about 12 is the right age.

It was given 12A rating here in the uk, which means only 12 years and accompanied with an adult.

There is some parts later in the movie relating to "blood" that might freak out some younger children.

EDIT: woops i read 17 not 7 (i read wrong a lot im sorry)
Definatly NOT ok for a 7 yr old. Im 17 and I was scared!!! :earseek:
My thoughts are around 12 yrs old too.

There's a good website we use called Kids In Mind that gives you a detailed rundown of all the things that may not be appropriate for kids in many, many movies. We use it constantly especially when a movie is PG-13. We have an 11 year old and find that some PG 13s are just fine for him, and others make us cringe. The link is www.kids-in-mind.com
