Sony DSC-N1 Vs Canon IXUS 750

Both top end digital cameras, the Sony DSC-N1 with slightly better features/touch screen but heard more negative reviews than IXUS 750... Can you help me?

I've only got about a week to decide or I wont have a camera to go with!

I personally won't touch Sony products other than their CLD projection TVs and their camcorders (both consumer, prosumer and broadcast/professional grade)

Like many brands the Canon does have a Sony CCD sensor chip. Sony is a large manufacturer of chips.

true, but the chips are desgined by Canon and manufactured to Canon's specs.

Just like Sony's Vaio PC are manufactured by Acer, their PC DVD-R drives manufactured by Acer and LG, their tube TV manufactured by Samsung.

Sony is not consumer friendly. They dropped support for the original memory stick in a hurry, put rootkit viruses on music CDs, have a bad habit of forcing the user into proprietary items and formats, on and on.
Now they want to force users into a new DVD format requiring all new and incompatible (Sony) players.

I also would not touch a Sony product unless there was no other or theirs was far and away the best. In most cases neither of these is so.

Canon Corporation may be no angel but is far more likely to continue support for a camera than is Sony.

Just my opinion...
