Now my 13yo son surprised me--NOT a mommy brag.

Kids do the funniest things and my 13yo, soon to be 14yo, son is no exception. He was just eating spicy chinese food and held up one of the little red hot peppers and asked if it was edible. Well, it is isn't it? Of course, me being the wonderful mother that I am told him it was. I expected him to nibble on it since I'm very often not good for a straight answer. Instead he popped the whole thing in his mouth, chewed it up, and swallowed it before noticing it was way spicy. DUH! He drank a very large quantity of whatever liquid he could get his hands on. I laughed so hard I was crying.

He's nominating me for the bad mommy award. ;)

LOL, maybe I will. I actually did feel kind of bad (between hysterical laughing), but you figure that a teenager his age would know better. If my 4yo had of asked me the same question I wouldn't have given him the same answer. But an almost 14yo? :o

I should probably add that my son just related the story about his "girlfriend" (we're talking a phone and IM girlfriend  ) asking a friend of his what my son would like for his birthday and this friend said my son would like the hottest pepper in the world because he really likes spicy things (my DS talks about spicy food all the time, even to his friends... :D ). Ironic timing.

It's one of those moments that will be told over and over again as you both get older. :teeth:
