I Have not been in the COP, in a long time. Can someone tell me when they changed the song to what it is now.

I recall from the eighties, the song went something like this.,,,

Now is the time now is the best time, now is the best time of your life ,,,,and so on.

Am I Just nuts or was that one a more catchy tune.......

Now is the time.
Now is the best time.
Now is the best time of your life.
Life is a prize, live every minute.
Open your eyes and watch how you win it.
Yesterday's memories may sparkle and gleam,
tomorrow is still but a dream.
Right here and now,
you've got it made.
The world's forward marching and you're in the parade!
Now is the time.
Now is the best time.
Be it a time of joy or strife.
There's so much to cheer for, be glad you're here.
For it's the best time of your life.

Actually, this was not the attractions original song!! It was changed from Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow when the attraction moved to WDW in '75 and then, changed back to Great Big Beautiful in '93 when the attraction was overhauled around '93.

That was the original song I remembered too! Although I guess the current one was the true original. I liked "Now is the time" better. Catchy for wee ones. Much better dancing tune!

Gosh, I miss that attraction!!!!!!!!!

It's never open when we're there. The last time I saw it was in 1994!!

I now have that song stuck in my head, but that isn't a bad thing. CoP has been one of my favorites since I was a little kid!

What attraction is this?

It's Carousel of Progress.
It is located in the MK by Buzz Lightyear and is only open "seasonally".
Here's a great website about it, http://www.carouselofprogress.com/main.htm
It really is a shame that it is not open more as it was one of Walt's favorites.

Only 74 more days :jumping1:

Oh NO!
only open seasonally! We are going in October, that is DH 's favorite ride, and I promised him it will be the first thing we do, since we kept missing it in July. I sure hope it is open, or I'm gonna have alot of "splainin" to do

BTW, both songs are included in the current 2-disc Happiest Celebration on Earth Official Album, along with the original scores from Universe of Energy and some of the music from Horizons.

We have been to WDW around 10 times over the years and COP has never been open. We are going peak season, around Christmas, this year and hope to see it.

The last time I saw it was 1965 at the NY Worlds Fair.

Yes I am old!!!! :hourglass :faint:

When we went for the day in March, it was open and it was DH's first time seeing it (I have seen it many times as a child). He really liked it, BUT the best part was my DD (22 months at the time) watching it from start to finish and not saying a word!!!! She loved the DOGGIE!!!!!

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but I believe CoP has been open consistantly for about a year now and to my knowledge has been taken off the seasonal list.

I'm hoping that is a good sign. It is in drastic need of an overhaul but I think it can stand alone as a "classic" Disney attraction. Walt himself worked with the design for CoP for the 64 NY Worlds Fair. It is one of the last remaining "real classic" rides. Many people signed petitions and literally begged the Disney Corp. not to trash this show. One can only hope they listened.

I like NTBT song better than GBBT but I can deal with either one as long as the show stays where it belongs.
::yes::

Hi Chuck! :wave2: Is this album only available at the parks? I just tried looking it up at Overstock and Amazon and I could only find a 1 disc album.

TIA.

I just did the same thing. :teeth: Also could only find the single disc that only has Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.

This is the current Official Album of Walt Disney World. It's a 2 Disc set and it was released in April 2005.

Price: $ 41.90

ACK! :earseek: I think that I will wait to see what the price in the park is when we go in the fall. Maybe $29.95?

(I'm not moderator on the Budget Board for NOTHING!!! :teeth: )

I bought mine at the park in June. I really don't remember what I paid for it, but I doubt it was $40. You might want to call WDW mail order and see what the price is. I know WDW uses different barcodes on many products, but the UPC printed on the jacket is: 0 50086 12937 9
