We just returned from 2 days in preferred view and 5 days in standard view in a 2 bedroom at the BWV. This was our first time at the BWV and I now appreciate every post that has mentioned the L--O--N--G hallways. Wow! Never, never have I known a place that big to only have 1 grouping of elevators!!! I'm amazed that they didn't add elevators in the other wings. Anyway, we had long hallways at BCV, but those were just a smidgen of what we had at BWV. Our first room (preferred view) was all the way to the very, very end of the villas toward MMG/Disney Studios. We could see the quiet pool and walking down from our 4th floor villa we were really close to the studios for walking on the trail. When they moved us to our next villa (Canal & Swan view, standard view), they put us at the completely opposite end, all the way to the farthest part of the BWV that would be near the Swan/Dolphin. We were on the first floor so it was easy to walk around the backside of Jelly Rolls to the boardwalk which was nice. We could also easily walk to the Swan if we wanted to take the boat to MMG/DS or walk on the boardwalk to head to Epcot or catch the launch.
We requested non-smoking because of my severe sinus reaction to smoke residue. Our first villa was perfect. We were located in the section that was non-smoking. Both the 1 bedroom and lockoff bedroom were clean and didn't smell. Our second villa was also located in the section that was designated to be only non-smoking, but when we entered the lockoff bedroom where our teens would be sleeping, it was obvious that someone had either smoked in it, or more likely, an active smoker had left smoke residue all over the place from their clothes, luggage or perhaps it was in the curtains from someone smoking on the veranda. Whatever it was I quickly shut that door and opened the 1 bedroom villa side to find a great villa without smell. We aired out the lockoff as best we could and hoped there wouldn't be a problem for the teens. I was very thankful that the main villa did not have smoke residue, nor the master bedroom.
We were on the wing that was having work done to the pipes. Since we had a nice view of the canal, we figured they had downgraded the rooms on that wing to standard view because of the pipe work. We were able to exit the opposite direction and miss most of the hassle of the work although you did hear the work going on if you returned to the villa during the day.
Some things were missing from the kitchen. The first villa had no hotpads or the top piece that fits on the oven roasting tray. The second had no cookie sheet so we had to ask for one from housekeeping.
To sum things up, we had a nice first experience for BWV and look forward to our next stay. We missed the shorter hallways at BCV and the close, handy parking. BWV parking situation is designed to support the valet and bell crew, not to make it convenient for the guest who wishes to drive. I think we will take Magical Express next time and forego the car. We did see long lines at the airport for ME...I look forward to reading about that in the transportation forum to see if they have worked the kinks out of it yet. We saw quite a few ME coaches arrive at the BW while we were there and wondered how long the guests had to wait at the airport in the lines.
Thanks for listening!
