Now I understand L-O-N-G hallways...BWV

We just returned from 2 days in preferred view and 5 days in standard view in a 2 bedroom at the BWV. This was our first time at the BWV and I now appreciate every post that has mentioned the L--O--N--G hallways. Wow! Never, never have I known a place that big to only have 1 grouping of elevators!!! I'm amazed that they didn't add elevators in the other wings. Anyway, we had long hallways at BCV, but those were just a smidgen of what we had at BWV. Our first room (preferred view) was all the way to the very, very end of the villas toward MMG/Disney Studios. We could see the quiet pool and walking down from our 4th floor villa we were really close to the studios for walking on the trail. When they moved us to our next villa (Canal & Swan view, standard view), they put us at the completely opposite end, all the way to the farthest part of the BWV that would be near the Swan/Dolphin. We were on the first floor so it was easy to walk around the backside of Jelly Rolls to the boardwalk which was nice. We could also easily walk to the Swan if we wanted to take the boat to MMG/DS or walk on the boardwalk to head to Epcot or catch the launch.
We requested non-smoking because of my severe sinus reaction to smoke residue. Our first villa was perfect. We were located in the section that was non-smoking. Both the 1 bedroom and lockoff bedroom were clean and didn't smell. Our second villa was also located in the section that was designated to be only non-smoking, but when we entered the lockoff bedroom where our teens would be sleeping, it was obvious that someone had either smoked in it, or more likely, an active smoker had left smoke residue all over the place from their clothes, luggage or perhaps it was in the curtains from someone smoking on the veranda. Whatever it was I quickly shut that door and opened the 1 bedroom villa side to find a great villa without smell. We aired out the lockoff as best we could and hoped there wouldn't be a problem for the teens. I was very thankful that the main villa did not have smoke residue, nor the master bedroom.
We were on the wing that was having work done to the pipes. Since we had a nice view of the canal, we figured they had downgraded the rooms on that wing to standard view because of the pipe work. We were able to exit the opposite direction and miss most of the hassle of the work although you did hear the work going on if you returned to the villa during the day.
Some things were missing from the kitchen. The first villa had no hotpads or the top piece that fits on the oven roasting tray. The second had no cookie sheet so we had to ask for one from housekeeping.
To sum things up, we had a nice first experience for BWV and look forward to our next stay. We missed the shorter hallways at BCV and the close, handy parking. BWV parking situation is designed to support the valet and bell crew, not to make it convenient for the guest who wishes to drive. I think we will take Magical Express next time and forego the car. We did see long lines at the airport for ME...I look forward to reading about that in the transportation forum to see if they have worked the kinks out of it yet. We saw quite a few ME coaches arrive at the BW while we were there and wondered how long the guests had to wait at the airport in the lines.
Thanks for listening!

Wow! Thanks for putting the time in to post such a detailed resort report :sunny: I enjoyed reading it, sounds like you had a great trip and lots of exercise

Just some more useless info but those long BWV hallways are .11 miles(info overhead map), or about 3-5 minute walk.

Another thing to do is use the Swan bus stop when coming home from the parks(its usually the first stop).

Thanks for sharing - I had to smile reading about the long hallways.

I had also read all the posts regarding the loooong hallways at BWV and often wondered how long are they really. When we walked to our Studio (Easter) #4136, we were the last studio down the hallway. I am so glad I knew about them. Instead of being disappointed or mad I actually thought it was funny. I could hardly walk down the hallway to our studio I was laughing so hard and my dh kept asking me "where is our room and "what is so funny". I think I counted 350 steps (can't remember now). We were so happy to be there, I really did not care. I told my dh - think of us walking to the main pool at OKW from our unit and now put walls around it. It's the same thing.

We also used the Swan bus stop. Very convenient.

Several years ago, I actually measured the walk and if I recall it was about 820 feet from the far end to the front door exit just past check-in. That's just short of 3 football fields, or 0.15 miles.

At a 2.5mph walk, it's a 3:45 walk. At a 2.0 mph walk, it's a 4:40 walk.

Unfortunately my original post is now gone as there have been several board changes over the years.

P.S., Anybody think Rich is looking down at this thread and smiling?

LOL, Bill! That's the length of my driveway!

BTW, yes I DO think Rich is smiling down at this thread!

Thanks. And yes, we had a great time and plenty of exercise. We were so delighted to get Non-smoking that the walk wasn't a problem.

I never thought to use the Swan bus stop when coming home from MK...guess it was after midnight and my mind was not up to speed. Good idea for the next time. Thanks!

Hey! 4136/4134 was our first 2br villa! We chuckled too when we found it at the end. We figured that's why they made the non-smoking all the way at the end...we've got the endurance to make it. Ha! When we got our 2 br the next time it was 2004/2006...all the way to the other end!

Thanks for the info about the length of the long halls...I just knew it took quite some time to walk it and we had the pleasure of saying Hi to lots of people on our way. I didn't get to know Rich very well (being a fairly new to the Dis boards)...I take it he mentioned the long halls at BWV a lot.

That's funny, because I thought of Rich EVERY time DH & I walked to our room (3005) that first week in May. He's there! I'd swear to it!! :goodvibes

I counted 275 paces from room 1136 to the laundry room (which is close to the elevator, and close enough to the lobby).
I didn't think the walk was funny when I was carrying my bags, but thinking back I think it is funny.
Had I spent more time in MGM than Epcot, this could have been the best room to have.

I never considered using the Swan bus stop either. Is it really closer?
We didn't walk the long halls, after getting off the bus. We used the path.

How was the trip Dee? We're leaving 3 weeks from today to stay at BWV.

Great trip report, thanks! We never stayed in the villa side of the Boardwalk, so I have no experience with the hallways there yet. After reading some of these posts it sounds like DH will be carrying DD3 down the hallways after a long day at the parks! Good thing he's a non-smoker. ;)
