My youngest DD, in 6th grade, has the same pre-algebra teacher that her brother and sister had. I remember this man being miserable, the kids having trouble learning from him and he not appearing to like my kids (at the time, both Kirk and Jeana had him the same year as they were on the 'split team' and shared the same group of teachers).
Needless to say, I was not really happy to discover that Jess had him this year.
We went to Back to School night early on in the year. During our "class time", he seemed VERY pleasant and extremely eager to help the kids in anyway that he could.
Jessie even would tell us what a great teacher he was and how nice he was.
Could it be that he had changed?? NOPE!!
Recently, Jessica has been telling me about how mean he is to the kids, how he has made a number of them cry and just basically humiliated them in front of the class. THIS was the teacher I remembered...not Mr. Nicey Nice!
Well, I knew it was just a matter of time....Jessie came home yesterday very upset. Seems that on Tues., when it came to checking homework time, she turned in her assignment. I KNOW she did it as she was sitting at the table and had asked me a question about it (it was on finding the perimeter of squares and rectangles). Well, yesterday he asks her where her homework was from the day before and does she have it with her. She answers no, she doesn't have and and doesn't know where it is as she handed it in. He goes nuts on her, starts to yell and scream at her in front of the whole class, accusing her of forgetting her homework twice and then tells her to leave his class!!
He also tells her she needs to do last night's homework plus all the classwork that she will be missing for homework last night.
I'm sorry but this man needs to retire.....YESTERDAY!
If you can't deal with the kids in a civilized manner, you have no business dealing with themm at all.
BTW, his problems started to appear with my daughter when he found out that we were taking to WDW last month for 2 weeks. Getting him to give her the missed assignments was like pulling teeth!! He kept telling her to find them herself and that she should of checked for the homework while she was out.
I could see him having a problem with her missing 2 weeks IF she was having problems in his class.......she got an A on her report card and has kept her grades up all year.

Tell her to hang in there.
