Welcome to my long overdue December 2010 Trip Report!
First off, let me explain my title. The average temperature for Orlando, FL in December is 62.1 degrees. The average temperature for the week we were there was in the 40’s and it was so windy, it seemed WAY colder than that! We literally froze our rear ends off, but we still had a great time even in spite of the frost bite!

The Trip Details:
When: December 3-11, 2010
Where: Fort Wilderness Campground
Who: Here is the cast…

My sister-in-law (Brooke), me (Jon) and my wife (Brittany)

Friday December 3, 2010

We departed the great state of North Carolina Friday afternoon and drove down to St. Augustine, FL where we stopped for the night at this lovely little campground.

Saturday December 4, 2010

We were up bright and early and on the road. We would be at Walt Disney World in just a couple of hours! Before we knew it we saw this beautiful sight…

DSCF2878.jpg

We’re there!!
Oh, what a feeling to be in Disney World! We proceeded to drive over toward the Fort Wilderness area to check in!

Saturday December 4 continued...

After we got checked in and set up the camper, we were off to do a little resort hopping before our 5:00pm ADR’s that we had for that night.

DSCF2898.jpg

We headed toward the Fort Wilderness dock to hop a boat over to our first stop…

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

DSCF2914.jpg

DSCF2918.jpg

We explored the beautiful Wilderness Lodge for a while and took lots of pictures (especially in the lobby) before heading back out to the dock to catch another boat to our next resort.

DSCF2924.jpg

We got a nice view of Bay Lake Tower on the way to…

DSCF2925.jpg

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

DSCF2929.jpg

We checked out the Comtemporary and it’s decorations and then we headed upstairs to catch the monorail to our next stop…

Disney’s Polynesian Resort

DSCF2938.jpg

This has to be one of our favorite resorts on property! Our goal is to try to stay here one da

Saturday December 4 continued...

Still at the Polynesian...
Here is a shot of Brittany and I in the lobby…

DSCF2935.jpg

After we spent some time at the Polynesian, it was time to get back on the monorail...

DSCF2940.jpg

and head over to the last resort on our tour for this day...

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

DSCF2946.jpg

DSCF2945.jpg

This resort is really nice and it was cool to see the huge Christmas tree and gingerbread house in the lobby, but the place is just a bit too fancy for my taste. I happened to check my iPhone and saw that it was about 4:15 so we high tailed it back over to the Fort Wilderness campground to change clothes for our 5:00 ADR at…

The Hoop Dee Doo Revue!

DSCF2966.jpg

This is always a great time! Great food and a funny show! Just the perfect way to start off our week at the most magical place on earth!

DSCF2960.jpg

Saturday December 4 continued...

After the Hoop Dee Doo, there was only one place we wanted to go… This is the place that any good Disney vacation must start at…

DSCF2983.jpg

The Magic Kingdom!

DSCF2985.jpg

We got to Main Street, USA just before the Main Street Electrical Parade was about to start. We wanted to ride some attractions, but we were in no hurry because the Magic Kingdom had Extra Magic Hours that night until 12:00am!

DSCF2996.jpg

DSCF2999.jpg

After the Main Street Electrical Parade, we started heading with the herd of people toward the castle to get ready for Wishes! The castle and Main Street looked awesome all lit up and decorated for Christmas! Here are some of shots of the castle and some highlights from Wishes!

Saturday December 4 continued...

After the fireworks were over, we were freezing, but we didn't want to leave the Magic Kingdom! We headed toward Tomorrowland and to our first and what turned out to be our only attraction of the night...
DSCF3090.jpg

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin!

IMG_0261.jpg

Me doing work on Buzz Lightyear!

After Buzz, we walked over to Space Mountain where we saw that there was a 120 minute wait! What?!? It was the most crowded I had ever seen the Magic Kingdom. We could hardly move in Tomorrowland and it was freezing so we decided to call it a night and rest up for our first full day in the parks the next day. We fought our way back down Main Street and through the exit. We hopped the boat back to Fort Wilderness and got back to the camper just in time to hit the sack four minutes before midnight...

Sunday December 5, 2010

We woke up bright and early and quickly got ready to head over to the bus stop for our loop to wait for the bus to come and take us to the main campground bus stop. If I have one complaint about the Fort Wilderness Campground, it's the bus system. We waited for over 30 minutes on several occasions at one of the bus stops, if not both, before we actually got on the bus for our park for that particular day. Oh well, I'm just impatient I guess.
Anyway, we waited at the bus stop for our loop for the bus to arrive to take us to the main bus stop...

DSCF3100.jpg

Once we got to the main stop, bus after bus came... but not we one we wanted...

DSCF3101.jpg

Finally, our bus came and we were in route to our first full day in the parks! Much like the monorail system, I love being on Disney buses! I love the music and the voice that plays over the speaker. Something about that makes using public transportation not so bad because you are in WDW! After a fairly long commute, we arrived at our destination for the day...

DSCF3103.jpg

Disney's Animal Kingdom!

DSCF3105.jpg

This park takes a lot of heat on these boards, but really like DAK. I know there is not an overwhelming amount of things to do here, but to me, this is a park to take your time and walk around in because there are so many details to take in. The theming in Animal Kingdom is truly unmatched not to mention it has one of my favorite attractions in WDW. So, into the park we went...
Upon entering the park, we decided to head toward Africa...

DSCF3108.jpg

DSCF3110.jpg

DSCF3112.jpg

We always have a hard time deciding which way to go when we first enter Animal Kingdom, Africa or Asia. Ultimately we chose Africa because we wanted to take an early morning journey on...

DSCF3291.jpg

Kilimangaro Safaris!

I'll save you from the customary Kilimangaro Safaris pictures of the the same animals you've seen a millions times but please click on the link to my youtube videos at the bottom of my posts to view my videos of KS among other attractions and shows.
I love this attraction! I love seeing the animals up close and I don't even mind the story line... Simba One!

DSCF3116.jpg

After our journey through the African outback, we took a stroll through the Pangnai Forest to get a close up look at some wild animals we didn't get to see on our safari... The Go-ril-a!

DSCF3130.jpg

Sunday December 5 continued...

After we spent some time with the gorillas, it was almost time for our first show of the day. Actually, it would be our first show of the trip! As we walked, we took the time to look around and take in all of the details that make Animal Kingdom so great. There were also subtle Christmas decorations throughout the park, which mixed the magic of Disney with the spirit of Christmas.

DSCF3145.jpg

DSCF3137.jpg

It wasn't long before we had made our way over to Camp Minnie Mickey - the location of the show.

DSCF3143.jpg

When we got to the Camp Minnie Mickey area, we still had a few minutes before the show was to start. We had just enough time to take part in a tradition Scott and I have each time we visit Walt Disney World. This is something that we enjoy not only in Animal Kingdom but in all of the Disney parks...

DSCF3140.jpg

Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches!

DSCF3146.jpg

Us making a wise investment.

DSCF3148.jpg

The money shot.

After our delicious treat, it was finally time for the show to start! This is one of our favorite shows at WDW and it is a must see every time we go to Animal Kingdom. That show, of course, is...

DSCF3152.jpg

The Festival of the Lion King!

DSCF3185.jpg

We love this show! So much action and energy!
After the show was over, we headed out to explore the rest of the park. We passed these guys on the way...

DSCF3150.jpg

DSCF3151.jpg

Sunday December 5 continued...

These guys weren't far behind their uncle Donald...

DSCF3149.jpg

We made our way out of Africa and toward the center of the park to see what was going on around the park's icon, the Tree of Life. In the distance loomed my favorite attraction at Animal Kingdom and my second favorite overall in Walt Disney World...

DSCF3141.jpg

DSCF3188.jpg

We checked things out around the Tree of Life and then headed toward the base of the tree for another great show that we never miss... It's Tough to be a Bug!

DSCF3191.jpg

Whenever we do It's Tough to be a Bug, I always love to take my time going through the queue so I can try to find as many animals as I can carved into the Tree of Life. It is really amazing how much time and effort was put in to the design of the tree.

DSCF3205.jpg

Everyone in my group kept telling me to "come on" and "quit taking pictures" because the show was about to begin! I snapped a couple more shots and made my way in to the pre show area to meet up with my party. If you never have, take the time to check out the posters in the pre show area. They are hilarious! We only had a wait a couple of minutes before the doors opened for the show. We took the customary bug eye shot while we waited...

DSCF3200.jpg

Britt, me & Scott

After It's Tough to be a Bug, we decided it was time to make our way toward the other side of the park. We walked for a little while and before long we were entering...

DSCF3206.jpg

Asia!

I love all the theming in Animal Kingdom, but I especially love Asia. Disney uses SO much detail here. I can only say so much, pictures do the talking so much better than I ever could...

DSCF3212.jpg

DSCF3213.jpg

DSCF3218.jpg

That's just a taste. I took more pictures than I'm willing to admit. I think I could do an entire trip report with typing a word and everyone would know exactly what I did while I was at WDW. Haha.
If you are familiar with Animal Kingdom at all, by my pictures, you know exactly where we are heading next...

Sunday December 5 continued...

As we continued to make our way through Asia, our destination towered over the park in the distance...

DSCF3220.jpg

I've mentioned many times already the incredible theming in Animal Kingdom and especially in Asia... well, this only becomes more evident as you approach the forbidden mountain...

DSCF3224.jpg

DSCF3225.jpg

DSCF3226.jpg

We finally made our way to the base of Everest! The build up and the excitement of seeing the mountain in the background as we worked our way toward it had us ready to explode. It was time to face the yeti and ride Expedition Everest!

DSCF3230.jpg

I love the queue for Expedition Everest. I think it is the best at Walt Disney World (followed closely by TOT). I could post a dozen pictures of the queue alone, but I'll spare you by just posting a few...

DSCF3237.jpg

DSCF3249.jpg

DSCF3258.jpg

This is one queue I actually LIKE waiting in because of all the detail! There is so much to look at and discover. I love the Fast Pass, but if you've never been through the regular queue for Expedition Everest, you're really missing out!
After making our way through the queue, we turned the corner and saw this wonderful sight...

DSCF3265.jpg

We boarded our trains and were ready to roll. I turned around to get a quick shot of Brooke and Brittany... It looks like they are ready to face the yeti!

DSCF3267.jpg

Sunday December 5 continued...

We were on Expedition Everest and heading up the mountain to face the mythical beast, when suddenly the track in front of us stopped! It had been destroyed by... something...

DSCF3270.jpg

You'll either have to go to WDW or click on my youtube link at the bottom of my posts to find out what happens next on Expedition Everest... but it goes a little something like this...

DSCF3272.jpg

All I'll say is that somehow we made it out alive... I recommend going through the regular queue at least once per trip, but you can't go wrong with these...

IMG_0269.jpg

Here are a couple of shots as we left the Everest area...

DSCF3273.jpg

DSCF3275.jpg

Upon leaving Asia, we passed by the Nemo show (which we decided not to do since we did it on our trip back in 2008 and the times were not going to work out with our plans) and we quickly got to our next destination...

DSCF3276.jpg

DSCF3283.jpg

Now, I will admit that Dinoland USA is pretty lame. Don't get me wrong, it's a great place for kids, but it reminds me a lot of the county/state fair back home. Kind of like the Tomorrowland Speedway in the Magic Kingdom. Just doesn't seem up to Disney standards... just my opinion. Anyway, there is not a lot for us to do in Dinoland. The only thing worth taking the time to ride is...

DSCF3277.jpg

DSCF3281.jpg

I actually really like Dinosaur and I think that even though it is rough and loud, it is an underrated attraction. However, after this there is absolutely nothing else for anyone over the age of 12 to do in Dinoland. So with that being said, we exited stage left. We headed back through the park the way we came to kill a little time before our ADR's for the evening and we also wanted to get a prime viewing spot for Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade! We headed back through Asia and I got a great shot that I had been wanting to get, but had forgotten earlier in the day...

DSCF3285.jpg

Sunday December 5 continued...

We made our way back all the way through Asia and into Africa and I took a couple of good shots along the way...

DSCF3289.jpg

DSCF3290.jpg

When we finally got back to Africa, it was just about time for the parade to begin. I ran into one of the shops because I was looking for a camera strap. No luck with the camera strap but I found this shirt (which I didn't get, but thought it was funny)...

DSCF3284.jpg

I met back up with my group just in time for the parade to start. It was a fun parade and I really liked all the floats, but all in all, I like the Magic Kingdom parades better. Here is a couple of shots from Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade...

DSCF3304.jpg

DSCF3319.jpg

After the parade we were all starving and it was just about time for our ADR's at this wild little place that we always love to eat at when we are at Animal Kingdom...

DSCF3333.jpg

After our lovely meal, Animal Kingdom was closing so we headed toward the exit... It was a long yet fun day and it wasn't over yet... We still had two more stops before we called it a night. Our first stop after leaving Animal Kingdom was a quick trip to Downtown Disney. We always have to make a trip to the Christmas store and I was still on my mission to find that elusive camera strap! I figured if this place didn't have it, nobody would...

IMG_0276.jpg

I was right! They had the strap I was looking for! I got it and a shirt and Brittany and I headed over to the park that was open late for Extra Magic Hours on this particular night...

IMG_0282.jpg

Hollywood Studios!

The place was practically empty! It was great! We headed straight toward my favorite attraction in all of Walt Disney World...

IMG_0284.jpg

The Tower of Terror!!

IMG_0287.jpg

The Tower of Terror was a walk on, so we rode it 3 times in a row before we decided to go ride the Rock'n' Roller Coaster. It had a minimal wait also, so we rode it twice and then went back to the Tower of Terror. We walked around for a little while and made the Great Movie Ride our last attraction of the night. I love EMH at night when the park is almost empty!! It was a great night and more importantly, a great first full day at Disney! We headed back to Fort Wilderness to try and get some rest for another fun filled day on Monday.

Monday December 6, 2010

Today, we did the unthinkable... We cheated on Disney and went to Sea World. It is a tradition of ours when we go to Orlando, and even though we are not proud of our actions, we enjoy a good day at Sea World! I will not post any pictures from this day though out of respect for Disney.
Our original plan was to hit the Magic Kingdom that night for Extra Magic hours, but Orlando had like the coldest day in it's history that day and the wind chill was like 19 degrees, so we decided to call it an early night. It worked out well because we had a VERY early ADR on Tuesday morning... Sorry, Disney, we would be better tomorrow and the rest of the week; I promise.

.

Sounds like a fun trip so far :) I love exhibition everest, that ride never gets old for me. It to me is one of the main reasons to go to animal kingdom. I also love Tower of Terror (Especially during EMH)! I rode it 6 times in one day once (granted we had gotten 3 fastpasses and alot of those rides were during extra magic hours but still). Don't feel to bad about going to sea world for one day. This past trip was the first time I had ever left Disney World for a day, and we went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! It was sooooo much fun! I love those movies about as much as I love disney so it was definitely a must do.

Thanks for stopping by to read! We sound like we like the same things! EE and ToT are my two favorite rides in WDW too!

Tuesday December 7, 2010

Like I said in my last post, we had an extremely early get up today! We had ADR's at our favorite character breakfast at 7:00am! Let this be a lesson to all of us to make our ADR's at the 180 day mark, so we don't ever get stuck with a breakfast this early ever again! Ok, so, we got up at like 6:00am so everyone would have time to get ready and so we would have time to drive over to the location of our breakfast since the buses don't run until an hour before park opening. We all hopped in the truck and headed over to Disney's Contemporary Resort for breakfast at...

DSCF3559.jpg

Chef Mickey's!

We always make time for a trip to Chef Mickey's for breakfast on every trip to Disney. We love the food, the atmosphere and the fun! Here are a few shots from breakfast...

DSCF3566.jpg

Pam with the head honcho himself, Mickey Mouse!

Chef Mickey's is so much fun! We ate and ate until we couldn't eat anymore. We were stuffed and after all the characters made their rounds, we decided it was time to head back to the camper to bundle up for our day in the parks. Now, I know by my trip title you are probably thinking, "I thought it was supposed to be cold." The first day at Animal Kingdom, we were able to wear short sleeves... well, that was the only day. I wasn't sure if we were in Florida or the North Pole! As were exiting the Contemporary, I snapped this shot...

DSCF3572.jpg

When we got back to the camper, we bundled, because baby, it was cold outside! When I say we bundled, I wasn't kidding. We looked like we were about to hit the slopes...

DSCF3577.jpg

We had our layers on so we headed toward the bus stop. Soon the bus came for our park for the day. The buses were such a welcome sight during this week because they meant WARMTH!! After a short drive, we arrived at...

DSCF3582.jpg

Hollywood Studios!

DSCF3581.jpg

I love Hollywood Studios! It is probably my favorite park at Walt Disney World other than the Magic Kingdom, of course. It has two of my top three attractions in WDW, not to mention great shows, food and details. I don't even mind the hat... I really like the old signs and billboards at DHS; they really make you think you went back in time to old Hollywood. We saw this one as we made our way into the park...

DSCF3587.jpg

Tuesday December 7 continued...

We had just entered Disney's Hollywood Studios (I actually like this name better than MGM Studios), and we were heading toward the park's icon while checking out the scenery...

DSCF3588.jpg

DSCF3591.jpg

DSCF3594.jpg

Now, in the past when entering Hollywood Studios, we would always head straight toward the Tower of Terror and the Rock'n' Roller Coaster... but this time, we had other plans. There was a new attraction that had been added to DHS since our last visit in 2008 and we wanted to give it a try. Plus, we had heard about the outrageous wait times and how quick the Fast Passes run out for this particular attraction, so we wanted to get there first! I bet you can't guess where we were headed...

DSCF3597.jpg

Pixar Studios, but more specifically...

DSCF3599.jpg

Toy Story Midway Mania!

DSCF3600.jpg

When we got to the queue entrance, there was a 45 minute wait! So, we grabbed a couple of these (pictured below) for later and headed into the attraction!

IMG_0299.jpg

The queue for Toy Story Midway Mania is awesome! Lots and lots of great detail and oversized toys. Makes you feel like you just stepped into the movie! As we made our way through the line, we saw this familiar face...

DSCF3601.jpg

After we listened to Mr. Potato Head for a little bit, it was time to board the ride! I was excited because of all the hype I had heard about this attraction leading up to our trip; but I was also a little skeptical because I kept thinking to myself - how good can this really be? Well, the time for speculation was over. It was time to board the ride!

DSCF3603.jpg

Wow! I was impressed with this attraction! It was like Buzz Lightyear on steroids! VERY fun and addictive! As soon as you get off, you're ready to go again! I couldn't wait to get back on so I could try to beat my score. How do you think I did for my first time?

DSCF3636.jpg

Not too shabby, huh? Haha. Oh and in case you were wondering about that Player 1 score, yes, I rode by myself - Brittany rode with her dad - hence the score of 0 for Player 1...
Anyway, with Fast Passes in hand, we headed out of Pixar Studios to explore some more of the park.

Tuesday December 7 continued...

I had just finished doing work on Toy Story Midway Mania and we were headed out to explore the rest of Disney's Hollywood Studios. It was a clear, sunny day but my oh my was it cold and windy! We left the Pixar Studios and we were freezing. We came to the next attraction and quickly headed into the queue not even thinking that most of this attraction takes place outdoors...

DSCF3609.jpg

Now I know that the Backlot Tour takes a lot of heat on this and other Disney message boards, but I still like it. Something about it just reminds me that I am in Walt Disney World! I guess because I remember it from when I was a kid. I love seeing the props and other things you just can't see (at least up close) unless you are on the Backlot Tour...

DSCF3612.jpg

DSCF3615.jpg

DSCF3616.jpg

After the Backlot Tour, Scott checked the show times guide and saw that one of our favorite shows was about to start! This show has been around forever, but I still love it! People were already starting to file in, so we headed into the show so we would get a good seat...

DSCF3621.jpg

The Indiana Jones movies were always favorites of mine growing up, so I make a point to see this show every time I'm at Hollywood Studios! One day, maybe I'll get up the courage to volunteer to be in the show... knowing my luck, they wouldn't pick me though. Haha.
After the show was over, we came across another favorite attraction of mine, but unfortunately it was closed for refurbishment... It was a bitter sweet feeling though because I knew when it finally opens back up, it's going to be better than ever! See you next time, Star Tours...

DSCF3624.jpg

After grabbing some lunch at Pizza Planet, we decided to give Muppet Vision 3D a try. I hadn't done this show in a long time, so I didn't remember much about it. I know a lot of people love this show, but it's definitely not something I will do every trip. It does make for some good photo opportunities though...

DSCF3625.jpg

DSCF3626.jpg

After Muppet Vision, it was time for another one of our favorite shows at Walt Disney World...

DSCF3627.jpg

Lights, Motors, Action!

DSCF3634.jpg

This show is always so much fun to watch! So much action and the stunt driving is awesome! We waited for all the people to file out of the stadium and then we made our way back out into the park. Which way would we head next?? Stay tuned to find out...

Tuesday December 7 continued...

We just finished watching the Lights, Motors, Action extreme stunt show and we headed out of the stadium toward our next attraction. On the way out, I got this cool shot of the top of some of Hollywood Studios' most famous landmarks all together over the set of the LMA stunt show...

DSCF3629.jpg

Finally, we were headed toward my favorite section of Disney's Hollywood Studios. The area of the park where my two favorite attractions at DHS and two of the top 3 in all of WDW sit practically next door to each other. I think it was pretty clear where we were headed...

DSCF3638.jpg

But first, we had one more show to see...

DSCF3640.jpg

The Beauty and the Beast stage show is yet another favorite of ours and one that we never miss while at Walt Disney World. It is a bit of a change of pace from the other shows in Hollywood Studios. Here are a couple of shots from the show...

DSCF3644.jpg

DSCF3650.jpg

The Beauty and the Beast show was great, but I was ready for some thrills! There were two attractions that could provide that and we were heading there next! First up was my favorite in all of Walt Disney World...

DSCF3652.jpg

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!

DSCF3653.jpg

In my opinion, this is the best attraction in WDW! It is so freakin awesome! If you've never done it, please do. I promise, you will not regret it! Check out my Tower of Terror video on my youtube channel by clicking the link at the bottom of each of my posts...

DSCF3659.jpg

After Tower of Terror, we were ready for another favorite and one of my top 3 attractions in all of WDW...

DSCF3661.jpg

The Rock'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith!

IMG_0303.jpg

We absolutely love this ride! I don't know if it is the zero to sixty in less than five seconds, the loops, the loud music or a combination of all of those things that make this ride a can't miss attraction EVERY time we step foot in Disney's Hollywood Studios!
After we rode TOT and RNRC a couple more times each, it was starting to get dark out and we had big plans for later... What could those plans be? Where were we headed next? Stay tuned to find out...

Tuesday December 7 continued…

We were almost ready to leave Disney's Hollywood Studios - not because we weren't having a great time - but because we had a prior engagement. What on earth could pull us away from continuing an awesome day at the Studios? You'll have to wait just a little bit longer to find out… Here are a few of my favorite shots from that evening at DHS…

DSCF3668.jpg

DSCF3671.jpg

Even though this picture turned out blurry, I love it.

DSCF3677.jpg

Now, Hollywood Studios is tied for, if not my favorite park in Walt Disney World… so there could only be one thing that could pull me away from there considering the park hadn't closed yet. That reason was that we had a date at the most magical of all the Disney parks, the Magic Kingdom! But this just wasn't any normal night at the Magic Kingdom. Tonight, we had tickets for a very special event...

DSCF3715.jpg

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

The Magic Kingdom was all lit up and it was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. My words can't explain it and my pictures don't do it justice either. We hung out just inside the entrance and along Main Street USA for a while just taking it all in. We got a good spot for the parade and once it was over, we headed down Main Street toward the castle. After staring in awe at the castle for what seemed like hours (it was probably only 10 minutes or so), we headed toward Tomorrowland to get some refreshments. Cookies and hot chocolate were being served. The hot chocolate was perfect on such a cold night and it set the mood perfectly as we waited for Christmas Wishes to begin. Here are a few shots from our night at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in the Magic Kingdom…

After Christmas Wishes, we made our way around the Magic Kingdom and did a few attractions, and by the time we made our way from Tomorrowland to Adventureland (moving counter clockwise) we were completely pooped from such a long day. Here is one last shot from our night at the Magic Kingdom...

Whew! What a day! We had started at 6:00am at Chef Mickey's, went on to Hollywood Studios from there and finished up the day at the Magic Kingdom with Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I still get tired just thinking about that day! As we walked back down Main Street, heading toward the exit, I glanced at my iPhone and saw the time go from 11:59pm to 12:00am. The day was over, but what a day it had been! We boarded the boat back to Fort Wilderness and if you've never been on the boats on Bay Lake at night, you HAVE to. It is such a peaceful time because everyone is so tired and quiet; you can just enjoy the ride and reflect on your day and the memories that were made…
We arrived at the Fort Wilderness dock and we were in the bed by 12:35am. We had another full day planned for the next day, so it was time to get some shut eye...

Wednesday December 8, 2010

The alarm went off on my phone at 8:00am and I jumped out of bed because today we were spending the entire day in one of my favorite parks! We had been to this park several times already during our trip, but today the plan was to open and close this park! Which park could I be talking about?? None other than the Magic Kingdom!

It was a beautiful day at the Magic Kingdom! There wasn't a cloud in the sky! Other than the fact that it was like 45 degrees, it was a picture perfect day! I mean, just look at the sky in my pictures… it was unreal!
Upon entering the Magic Kingdom, we headed down Main Street and toward the castle. There was a show going on at the castle, so we watched it for a while and took some photos. Here are a few of my favorites…

After the castle show was over, it was time to ride some attractions! Which way should we go first? We decided to head to Tomorrowland.

The first attraction we did was Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. We had never done this attraction before, so this was a brand new experience for us. It was a cute show, but not one I would have to do on each and every to the Magic Kingdom. Next up was another spin on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin! This is always a favorite among our group and I once again dominated the competition! After Buzz, we headed toward another all time favorite of ours that we never miss when we are in the Magic Kingdom! Can you guess which attraction I'm talking about? Stay tuned to find out…

Wednesday December 8 continued…

Have you figured it out yet? Yep, you guess it! Stitch's Great Escape! LOL, yeah right! We hate that attraction! I wish Disney would shut it down and put something worth while in it's place. Anyway, on to the real attraction I was talking about. This attraction was Walt's baby and he debuted it in the 1964 World's Fair in New York. Although it has changed throughout the years, we love it! Of course I'm talking about…

"There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day…"
Don't act like you don't know it…

DSCF3766.jpg

There is just something about this show that keeps us coming back each and every time. I don't know what it is. Maybe the fact that Walt Disney himself had a hand in creating this attraction and it and it's general concept is still alive today.
After COP, we headed over to one of my personal favorite attractions of all time at WDW! I can remember absolutely loving this attraction as a kid and begging my parents to let me ride it over and over again! I was particularly excited about riding it on this trip because it had recently been refurbished and I couldn't wait to check out all the new details and experience the updated trip through space. I just gave it away, as if there was any doubt what attraction I was talking about…

Space Mountain!

I tried to get some pictures from inside, but it was just too dark for any of them to come out good. I'll try again on my next visit though, don't worry. Next up was yet another favorite that I could ride over and over again all day. This attraction is slow, calm and relaxing, but we love it just as much as the thrill rides. It had recently been renamed and we couldn't wait to hop on and take a tour through Tomorrowland on the…

TTA - Peoplemover!

DSCF3771.jpg

After our trip around Tomorrowland on the TTA, we were all getting a bit hungry. We walked for a short distance until we came across Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café. Perfect! We stuffed our faces and it was wonderful. Now, I know some of you are probably disappointed with my complete lack of food pictures! I am disappointed in myself, but in my defense, we were not on the dining plan this trip, so most of our meals were counter service… I know, I know, that's no excuse, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Next time, I promise, there will be many food pics!
Anyway, we continued our trek around the Magic Kingdom and into the next land that we came to which was, of course, Fantasyland. We got to see the new queue for the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which was really nice. So much better than before!

DSCF3776.jpg

We also got to see the construction walls that were up for the new Fantasyland expansion. I can't wait for this to open in a couple of years! It is going to add so much to this area of the Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to ride Dumbo; so I didn't get a look over the walls, so you'll have to settle for this shot...

We continued through Fantasyland, riding some of the classics along the way.

After we left Fantasyland, we entered Liberty Square. I really enjoy Liberty Square, even though I know some people find this part of the park boring. I love all the history here and I love the Hall of Presidents.

DSCF3785.jpg

After the Hall of Presidents, I could have stayed in Liberty Square a little while longer just to soak up all the little intimate details, but everyone else in my group was ready to keep moving. As we made our way toward Frontierland, cast members were roping off for the parade which was going to start in like 15-20 minutes. Ah, just enough time to see a quick show. Here is a shot as we made our way into Frontierland…

DSCF3789.jpg

Can you guess what show we were going to try and see before the parade started? I'll give you a hint. We were all beary excited about seeing this particular show…
