My DBIL wants to try Blue Bayou..I was amazed at one week out they had total availability. Anyway...I had the short ribs once and really liked them, but was wondering if anyone had had the filet and what they thought of it.

::yes::The filet is awesome. I have dined there many times and will again. However, on one occasion I had prime rib and it sure had a lot of fat on it. But, of course I turned that into a positive. I usually do not have room for desert. So, this time I had the creme brule'e, that was heaven. :tink:

Another vote for the filet being awesome! Although I think I liked the chicken even more than the filet! :goodvibes

Love the chicken......and I'm so picky about my chicken it's hard to find something I like, but it was delish. We liked the filet as well but not the ribs, we thought they were very fatty and not very tasty.

Oh man, it's my FAVORITE!!! I like the surf & turf best (the filet mignon comes with a lobster tail on that one). I split it with my dd or my sister. It is SO good :goodvibes

The short ribs are not currently on the menu.

Well, that makes my choice easier...They aren't? I went by this menu from form All Ears..from January? I noted the removal of several desserts, plus don't see Prime Rib, but no ribs either?

I loved the ribs and the filet both. The Jambalaya and gumbo are wonderful.

Heaven!!! :lovestruc They are sort of like a scalloped potato I think?

yes..thin slices, layered. I didn't like them last time..undercooked..hopefully better this time! (I like mushy potatoes, so maybe it's just me)

Do they still have that dessert shaped like a pirate boat? I didn't see it listed on any of the online menus, but I have eyed it on the food porn thread.

My husband loved the NY Steak as well. Said it was out of this world and plans to order it again next time. I had the short ribs and loved them as well, but will try the NY next time.

The menu for BB on ALLEars was updated this month - no ribs. Menu now without the discription:

Five-Pepper Roast New York -
Royal Street Seafood Jambalaya -
Isla-Cruces Crab Cakes -
Filet Mignon
Portobello Mushroom and Couscous Maque Choux - Tesoro Island Chicken -
Cajun-Spiced Salmon
Bayou Surf & Turf -

OK...thanks..and to the PP, no, the desserts are WAY pared down..they used to have a creme brulee trio that I am kicking myself for not trying, key lime pie, chocolate cookie boat...maybe they were having too many people just coming in for dessert and filling up the tables that they decided to cut desserts way back.
Really too bad about the ribs..they were excellent I thought. Wonderful sauce.

Aw man. I ate at BB many years ago and was not impressed, but I wanted to give it one more try for my husband since he's never been. I thought we could get really special desserts, now I am disappointed.
