Now have to pay to park at SOG???

We check-in at SOG on June 17th for 5 nights and I received this email from SOG, saying that beginning April 1, 2005 they are now going to charge for parking. In the email, it says parking will be $3/day and valet will be $3 plus a $5/day usage fee. Did anyone else get this email or know about this?

It's been posted about on another thread extensively. It's to cover the cost of the parking structure and security. Not an unreasonable fee, IMHO, but everyone has their own opinion.

The $5 a day usage fee only applies to valet services. Otherwise it's $3 only.

I don't think that $3 a day to park is unreasonable, especially considering how inexpensive the rooms are at SOG. I've paid 40 bucks a day to park in Manhattan before, so $3 seems like a good deal to me.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't complaining about the price, just wanted to know if it was true or not. I did try to do a search before posting, but I guess I didn't do a good job. The thing that had me wary was the way the email from SOG looked. It didn't look very professional and I actually started to wonder if it was really from shades of green. Just didn't look right. But good to know that it is true, so I can add that into my budget.
