DD wants to go to soccer camp instead and they have a two for one deal for the residential camp during the time we will be there. Currently have a Savanna view studio at Jambo but called member services to try to change it to BLT or BWV. Being solo, I want to be closer to the “action” than at AK. Don’t think either will happen.

This could be an interesting trip and my first time going to WDW alone. No idea what I am going to do. Maybe a tour or two. Suggestions welcome.

I'll be solo in May at the same location. I'm looking forward to the R & R. Resort-hopping, pool, shopping at DTD, a movie, maybe "La Nouba", a spa treatment....the world is our oyster! :thumbsup2

I was really surprised to find out my waitlist came through for a BCV studio yesterday - had pretty much given up hope, but you never know until you try!!

Hopefully yours will come through too!! :goodvibes

hey there is a bunch of stuff to do at AKV for solo's.

you can animal watch or people watch (sometimes even more fun).
Jambo house is definitely fun to watch the other guests.

hoping to move down to close to WDW by then.

As much as I love being with my son at WDW, I would LOVE to do a solo trip one day. However, since my son is only 5, I doubt that will happen any time soon. ;)

Well, it is official. Reserved DD’s space at soccer camp for two weeks. They had a two weeks for the price of one sale which sweetened the deal. She gets out Friday afternoon and I will drive over there to pick her up for the last day at Disney.

Hopefully one of the waitlists come through because as much as I like the AKL, I would rather be at BWV or even better, BLT. I reserved at AKL because she LOVES watching the animals. Either way, I plan to have fun.

If you are at AK I would highly reccomend taking the culinary tours there9they are free and you get to taste some food for the restaurants). Also at Kindani they have a tour of the artwork at about 3pm some days.

I have really enjoyed the tours I have taken at Disney, also I really enjoyed having a spa day at the GF one day a few years back.

Wow! Your DD must really love soccer. It's great that she is dedicated.

Anyway, I think you are very likely to get your waitlist. Don't give up. I have gotten waitlist before in the last 30 days.

When I fantasize about taking a solo trip to the World, I think about how fun it would be to go to each park-- especially MK-- and photograph those magical Disney details that we rush right past. I think it would be fun to do a photo book of those wonderful details. And the kids and DH are always too much in a rush to stop and browse the Main St. stores. No one in my group wants to spend time at the shows like Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, etc. but I do! And a day lounging by the pool without having to keep an eagle eye on my little ones sounds fabulous! I know you will enjoy your trip whatever you decide to amuse yourself with!

I've taken those culinary tours, twice at Jiko/Boma and once at Sanaa as a solo and loved them. Sanaa had an extra bonus for me. I was the only one on the tour that day, and at the end, the chef made an appetizer of the 3 different breads and dips and discussed the different seasonings. Then she left it for me to finish. Since it was so much food for just me (I think the appetizer is meant for two), I bought a drink at the Sanaa bar, and that appetizer became my dinner. So for the cost of a drink, I had a filling, unique, dinner.

You'll enjoy your solo trip....only your schedule to meet....or don't even have a schedule. I was lucky today! My waitlist for a VWL Studio came through for May 1-5. I really didnt think I'd be so lucky! Have a great time wherever you stay!

Why not take the Behind the Scenes Tour? It's 7 hours and visits all four parks. It's on my list of things to do someday.

Judging by your wonderful trip reports I can imagine you meeting and greeting lots of new people during your stay. And no doubt you will charm them the way you charm us.

Go for it. Have a great time. Pool hopping might be an option.

With my luck it won’t happen but I can “suffer” at AKL.

You are right. Plenty of animals to watch both the four legged and two legged kind. Good luck with the move.

Don’t blink because he will soon be 16 and off to soccer camp. They grow up too fast. Soon DD will be in college and there will be many solo trips in my future. Can’t wait to be able to go to Food and Wine.

Great idea that I never heard of. If the waitlist doesn’t come through, something I will look into doing. Not a spa person though.

Here is hoping that it does. No matter though, I will be at Disney. Her goal is to make varsity next year. She started playing soccer when she was young (I was even the coach for a few years) but gave it up until high school. She needs to improve her skills and this is a pretty intensive camp. Her thinking was we go to WDW a few times a year and camp is a once a year thing so she gave up the trip. She knows she will be back.

Great idea. One of the things I would like to do is stroll down Main Street and look at the legends windows and take pictures. I may get Lou Mongello’s audio guide for my I-pod and just look at the details as he describes them.

My mouth is watering now. If I stay at AKV this is a definite.

Great idea. I will do a tour or two and Behind the Scenes is at the top of the list.

Very sweet of you to say that about the TRs. Can I now be called Prince Charming? I might be too old to be a Prince. Maybe fifth in line for the crown Charming?

My ds 16 would probably do the same. We have to book our vacations around his soccer schedule now that he is in high school. His entire summer is soccer basically.

One day....one day....... dh and I will be able to just go. Right now dd 19 and ds 11 would want to be there with us. ;) ds 16..... he is at the age that if it doesn't interfere with school or sports....then he will go. He doesn't like to miss school now. :goodvibes

Take a friend!! :goodvibes

We got two different WL at BWV for a studio and a 1BR to come through in the past 10 days for the first week of October. Seems to be a lot BWV owners are going somewhere else at the 7 month mark. Maybe it will be like that for you.

A little pixiedust: to help you out.

P.S. Why not try out one of those Segway tours. If you get a BWV reservation you'll be just around the corner for the one at Epcot.

Go and enjoy! I am seriously thinking about a solo trip in August. I had hoped to take DD to Disney late August for our annual mother-daughter get away but DD won a scholarship to a fine arts camp this summer and she elected to go there instead of Disney. Actually she won two scholarships, one for oboe and one for the visual arts (drawing) but since we told her she could attend only one session (2 week session) she had to choose oboe or art. She chose art. Thus August is out for a MD get-away. Our family is participating in an archeological dig in June so that rules out a June Disney trip. July is still open but I really do not think I can handle the July crowds.

Now my suggestions for your trip, take pictures of people you do not know and create a trip report about them (make up the stories based on the pictures). Your fans will be entertained. Catch a boat to WL and rent a bike. We had an awesome time just riding around the paths and the campground during our last visit. I like the bikes at WL because they have big seats and high handlebars, excellent for my aging body. I do not know how it will be in June but when we were there the paths were empty and quiet with lots of small wildlife.

We are all looking forward to another trip report. :goodvibes

OMG kid-at-heart. :rotfl:

And yes your fans will be entertained. The best TRs ever. And yes I know - you might not do one. :rolleyes1

I've done many solo trips and have many ideas - later. I'll post later. Right now I have more pertinent information.

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HATE SPONTANEITY ;):

Do not forget the under seven day free for all if the WL doesn't come through. Where waitlists have been trashed and it's a survival of the fittest.

It's a game I so adore. LIFERBABE has scored as well. It's got all the elements: excitement, dedication, anticipation and the SCORE! You'd be shocked how many goodies are given up at the last minute by DVCers (and rooms put back in the system for other reasons as well). And do not say I was on the waiting list for - relax the CMs by saying "What do you have for these dates?" and if they go into your reservation tell them to get out of there and FOCUS. (kidding everyone).

And it could be at any minute of any day. If at first you fail - hope and lovelies can be there a minute later. Remember that. I've been so blessed that I haven't had to call multiple times but I would have.

Have fun!

And your daughter - smart girl.

I'll leave this on for those who never think to use it. But I just realized that YOU know all this CJ - you used it to extend the trip with DD and her BF. :surfweb:
