I am just bursting with excitement over this trip!
And given that I'm having a really hard time getting on the DIS lately, between work and the tie dye shirts and general life, this is going to be one heck of an update.
Speaking of the tie dye shirts, I know that I'd mentioned working on some Halloween ones for us. Well, I did a big batch last weekend, and ended up making mine and DS'. I'm not totally pleased with how DS' Mickey head came out, so he may be getting another one. It's too funny, this is his third tie dye Mickey shirt. A boy can't have too many right?
The great thing about mine is that it's an old tank top that I was getting ready to get rid of because the white wasn't looking so great. Well, heck, through some dye on it and it looks fantastic!
I also made one that I'm debating keeping for myself. I truly have no idea how I got these color combinations, and I love how different they are. This is one of the things I love about tie dye, you really never know what you're going to get!
Now as far as my tie dye to do list, I still have one more tank top for myself, I'd like to make another 1-2 shirts for DH, and my mother actually jumped on board and bought a shirt for me to dye for her. This makes me think...should I make tie dye shirts for Nana and FIL as well? Something to think about.

I also haven't decided if I'll make DH's the Halloween, multi-color, or both. DS and I have shirts that are just red, blue, and purple, so I might do that for DH. Whatever the mood strikes, eh?
A cute anecdote for you as well. Yesterday, we're in the car, and DS says, "Mama, how did you make my colored shirt?" That's what he calls all his tie dye shirts. So I explained it to him, and...I think he may even be making one of his own next time! It's scary and exciting all at once. We'll just have to make sure he's wearing really old clothes we don't care about and very careful with the dye. I'll let you know how that goes.
Along the lines of things that need to be made, I think I finally figured out a way to make DS a Wall E costume instead of paying an exorbitant amount for one over the internet. So that's on my vacation to do list as well.

While I'm on a roll, I'll also need to make my mom's Eve costume. And while I'm listing this all here, I just decided to get actual paper and pen and put this stuff down. I'm having trouble remembering everything!
Another thing I like to do before the trip is go through possible outfits just to have an idea of what I'm going to pack.
Now I'll tell you. A lot of people (MOM AND DH) have given me a little criticism about wanting to do laundry on vacation. And to them I say, pishaw!!!! Here's the thing. I don't want to pack a lot. I'm not over-packing. Not over-packing clothes, not over-packing snacks for the room (because there's always too much food with free dining anyway), not over-packing! TK refuses to partake in it! I made myself a packing list for my May trip with Tink and I really stuck to it. I only had enough outfits for the days we were there, with possible one spare. I think the only thing I regretted then was not packing a long sleeved sweatshirt (mine was 3/4) because it was rather chilly one night.
Now the reason I say we'll do laundry is because it's an eight day trip. The laundry rooms are next to the Hippy Dippy Pool. It's so easy to throw a load or two in, go for a swim or lounge by the pool with your cocktail in hand, and come back and check on things. I always like to have detergent with me when I travel with DS anyway, because although he's fully potty trained, and for all intensive purposes a pretty clean kid, you just never know when accidents will happen. Whether we didn't make it to the bathroom in time, or we were having way too much fun eating a Mickey bar, I want to make sure I have the means to launder things while we're there. I don't like stained clothes to sit for that long, it's less likely you'll be able to get the stains out once you get home. And given that we've put so much effort into the tie dye shirts and that he loves wearing them, well, we want to make sure we can clean 'em!
Thank you for reading my rant about laundry. Honestly, I'm surprised you haven't unsubscribed.
Thankfully, I have more exciting news to report!
Lookie what came in the mail this week!!!!
OH YEAH!!!!!
That's when you know the trip is really real. It's bought. It's paid for. ADRs are made, and here comes your travel docs! I LOVE IT!!!! There may have been some happy dancing, I won't lie. And some, "Oh my gosh, DH, I'm so excited for this trip! We're GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!"

I can't wait. But I can, because there are a lot of wonderful family things planned this month, and the time is just going to fly by. Because we are under a month, folks. Isn't that crazy? I think once we hit September (only two more days!!!) I go into a bit of a shock. Because then I can say, I'm going on vacation this month. I'm going to Disney in a couple of weeks.
Which reminds me, I need to schedule a hair cut before the trip. Let's put that on the list, too.
And while we're discussing hair cuts which makes me think of changes, let's just say there may be some changes to our non-itinerary plans.
Basically all we have are ADRs, right? So obviously it's one of those that we're thinking about switching around.
Another anecdotal TK clan moment for you.
Monday night, and we're all sitting at the table. We decided to get Chinese take out. So we're sitting there and DS is so into it. He loves Won Ton Soup, he loves chicken and rice (General Tso's and pork fried), he eats it with gusto! And this is a child who eats pretty well, but I mean, this food makes him happy. Do you remember those happy food memories from when you were a kid?
I know when I was little, and my parents owned their deli/gourmet food store at one point, we made cannolis. And I used to go in the back, in the cooler, with a spoon, and just take one swipe of cannoli filling.
Now that's a happy food memory.

(And yes, my parents knew. It was not spoken of until recently, but they knew.

)
So, anyway, I can tell that DS is just loving his food and having such a good time.
And I looked at my husband and said, "DH?"
And he looked at me and said, "Nine Dragons?"
We're so sympatico.
So anyway, it's highly likely that we're going to try to fit in Nine Dragons. I haven't made an ADR...I know, the HORROR!!!!...because every time that I've checked is wide open. I'm not worried. We've got ADRs lined up, and if we really want to commit, I'll make one. If we're not feeling it until the trip, and they're all booked up, we can always try counter service.
And I know from reading eandemom's trip report that Yak and Yeti has some pretty good counter service as well, so there's a few places that we could fill the "chicken and rice" requirement for DS.
So, we'll see. Not even on the vacation yet, and already pirating up and messing around with things. Ah, the life of the TK clan.
I love it.
