Now Approaching... Sleepingbooty's Sept. PTR (We're BAAACK! 9/26)

Those are an incredible find!! You are sooooooooo lucky!! I found a little antique donkey (remember that one) purchased in 1958 from Frontierland DLR and I adore it!!! Only a real nut would truly find it valuable and appreciate those little treasures! ;) Enjoy them!

I do remember, that was really cool! I guess you and I are true nuts, then!:lmao:

Those plates are beautiful!!!! :lovestruc

Thanks! I keep thinking of your bathroom you just did Disney style. I need to go up to Target and see if they have that stuff at ours. Not that I would put bathroom stuff in my office, but there might be something I could use.:confused3

Subscribing, just wanted to say 1. you are gorgeous! and 2. love, love, love, that your name is sleepingbooty lol... though I also adore sweepingbooty lol... love it!

Chapter 30. In the Meantime...

Since I don't have any actual trip news, I thought I'd update on what's been going on around here the past couple weeks.

The end of the school year is always so busy, isn't it? Its also the end of the scout year for us, too. I'm actually thankful for that, because as much as I love it - I need a break! We had our bridging ceremony recently, Jenna's troop is moving from Brownies to Juniors. It turned out so nice! We were able to get a room at our city hall to use for the ceremony:

Here are the girls waiting to start:

We started with the Girl Scout Promise:

On my honor,
I will try
To serve God,
And my country,
To help people
At all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law

The we leaders spoke. Then we had the girls read a bit about the symbolism of bridging. Next, the Girl Scout Law:

I will do my best to be
Honest and Fair,
Friendly and Helpful,
Considerate and Caring,
Courageous and Strong,
And responsible for what I say and do.

And to respect myself and others,
Respect authority,
Use resources wisely,
Make the world a better place,
And be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Isn't that a nice motto? I've always thought so. After that they sang a couple girl scout songs, and then they read a poem, with a different pair of girls reading each stanza.

Then one by one, the other leader removed their Brownie sash, they walked across the bridge (below) and I put their new Junior vest on them when they got to the other side.

At the end we had them all pose with their new vests on:

I'm on the far left, and Jenna is the one in the bottom row who's face I didn't blur out.

Then it was time for cake:

It was such a nice ceremony. Later, my co-leader and I found out that one of the moms had arranged for us to be given community volunteer awards. It was supposed to happen at the ceremony, but the city employee whose job it was dropped the ball. So she brought them to us later. The mom who'd arranged it was so bummed out because her surprise didn't work out. But, since we'd had no idea anyway - we were just so honored that she'd tried to arrange such a thing in the first place!

Next Up: Cocina Espanola, Ole!

I've come over from All7ofUs' thread and read ALL your chapter links!

What did you decide about 'Ohana and MNSSHP ??

:welcome: Thanks for comin' over, Heidi! Hmmm, well - I guess I haven't made it official by buying tickets, but I'm thinking the best choice is to go with the second option: doing the Tuesday MNSSHP. Since our dinner that day (Chef Mickey's) is scheduled for 5:00, it should work out perfectly. I just have major doubts that we'll be able to get anything earlier than our current 6:30 at Ohana. At least, I don't want to have to stress about it for the next 3 months anyway!

Yeah I wouldn't count on getting in early at 'Ohana's....and 630pm is probably when the backups start from everyone that took too long at 530 to eat :scared1: We have never even been seated on time there.

I think Tuesday is a great day to go to the party. You know that you can enter the park at 4pm with your party tickets right?

Well, I did know that - but I doubt we'll be able to make it over until after dinner. It's our only day at Animal Kingdom, so we won't want to cut out of there too early. I figure with we ought to be over there by 6:30.

By the way, I've just started reading your last TR - but of course, its completed so I won't be able to leave any comments. I'll have to do it over here;)

I well remember my own bridging ceremony a zillion years ago. What a fun time in a little girl's life. Great idea to get group pix of them before an after. :thumbsup2

Lovely ceremony!! That's so sweet for the other mom to think of you leaders and want to do something so special!

Great GS ceremony.

That cake is making me have an unhealthy urge to get up and eat cake right now---(It's only 10:30 in the morning! )

Hey SB!

What an awesome find on the Disneyana!

Looks like the girls all had a great time. We are nearing the age of scouting for our two so I'm sure it will only be a matter of time.

What a nice ceremony!! And I just LOVE the cake!! :lovestruc

Thank you! I thought it looked really cute (as long as you don't notice where my co-leader's daughter leaned against it as she brought it in;))

I didn't expect to hear from you for a couple weeks!

Great girl scout pictures! That cake is so cute!
