NOvemBUY (November No Buy)...All Are Welcome!

The latest:
11/1: $42 for last week's after school care, $? for the PO (been avoiding that trip for almost 3 weeks, so I don't really want to know, but I suppose I'll have to ask later), $62 on clothes, and $140 for indoor soccer registration for the boys (ouch, but I was able to get the late fee waived because I didn't even know this place had indoor soccer until Sat., and the deadline was of course Fri.! That was really nice of them.) Starting off with a huge day!
11/2: $30 for the school fundraiser (beautiful wreath though!), $32 for gas, ? for grinders but DH picked them up so I'll have to ask.
11/3: $14 at the book fair
11/4: :cool1:
11/5: $10 groceries, $12 skate night (PTO fundraiser), and $35 for after school care.
11/6: $130 on haircuts for me and the boys (I've got a lovely new shade of dark brown hair now!:)), $35 at Target, and $20 gas. I also returned about $50 to Lands' End.
11/7: $43 groceries, $66 on clothes. (We had gift cards to pay for our hot chocolates at Dunkin' Donuts!)
11/8: :cool1: (How could I forget to update on a no buy day?)
11/9: :cool1:
11/10: :cool1: (Not counting the new tires on my car as I've had the money saved for months and they're a big ticket, one-time type, necessary item.)
11/11: $14 bagel place (There isn't a one near us, so we buy lots when we visit MIL!), $75 Trader Joe's (ditto!), $25 dinner at the highway rest stop on the way home, $43 clothes (including a Lands' End fleece jacket for DS for $7!!)
11/12: I thought I had a no buy, but then I realized that my 8 year old is still using the same hooded baby towels he had as a newborn and they're suddenly tattered. I was going to wait for a good Kohl's sale, but I found a sale, a 30% coupon, and free shipping online tonight. So $38 Kohls for towels, a Christmas gift for my aunt, and socks and pjs for the boys. ETA: $218 on Christmas gifts, too. Ouch.
11/13: Today was my big shoe shopping trip with my friend that we've been looking forward to for about a month. That means that DH had the boys all day and spent money too. Here goes: DH and the boys spent $105 at BJ's (with $45 in coupons!), $? for lunch, $? for birdseed from the nature center fundraiser (he can't remember how much!). I spent $98 on shoes, $1 on muffin cups, $7 on sewing supplies, $17 on pjs and puzzles, and $16 on odds and ends for my class. I drove, so my friend bought my lunch, which was nice of her.
11/14: $26 groceries
11/15: $35 after school care, $? on dinner because the casserole I had put in the fridge LAST night to defrost was still a solid brick at 4:30 this afternoon.
11/16: $12 for the little one's book order, $80 on ONE contact lens (ouch!).
11/17: :cool1:

Not sure I'm going to make it to 10 this month! I've got to get cracking on the Christmas shopping, and sometimes a little at a time is all I can take.

I'm in. My DD 6 had a huge tantrum on Sunday. Basically we went to buy her boots and she wanted shoes too. I said no and she was acting out in the store. I didn't buy the boots because of her behavior and she started hitting me!!! She was saying very cruel things too :sad1: It wasn't a good day. My DH and I talked and while I don't buy a lot or spend a lot of money on things, I'm buying too many unnecessary things (but it was 75% off - no longer).

So I'll start with the previous day and post as much as I can:

10/17 No buy days

Hi gang, finally caught up reading Novembuy, looks like everyone is doing great:thumbsup2. The book fair last week was not kind to my no buy, I helped each day, and took one of my kiddos to help, so I let them each choose 2 books. Our tiny (town pop 3,500) school library made $13,000 during book fair week! It was packed in there every day, and the library gets to keep the income from the fair, so that's a good deal! We also had to get 2 new tires for our car, $400 for 2:scared1:! I am also almost done with my Christmas shopping, I'm hoping to be completely done and wrapped by Nov. 30. So hopefully next month will be looking much better than this one!

MickeyMomofThree, hope you are having an FABULOUS vacation:banana:! You have been doing so great on no buy, you deserve a no-stress, fun filled week!:)

Coupon and Store Savings- $23.03

Well I'm not doing so well with keeping up on here. BUT since starting the Novembuy thread and reminding myself not to buy anything we don't absolutely need...DH and I have about $300 more in our account than we normally do at this point for the month!!!!! So I have no idea how many No Buy days I have but the proof is in my checking account. :goodvibes

My goal for the month is 17 no buy days. Looking forward to another good month!

1 $10. Was going to be a no buy day, but DH needed gas...oh well!
2 $0 :cool1:
3 $53 medical, $225 groceries. Not a great day spend wise, but I've taken care of groceries for most of the month.
4 $50 gas, $50 benefit for a local charity, $15 bread at the local orowheat outlet (got 7 loaves of bread, 5 packs of bagels, 5 packs of buns, and a breakfast pastry, so money well spent!).
5 $0 :cool1:
6 $0 :cool1: Took the boys to the art museum today, but it was free day and we packed a lunch again. We had a great time AND didn't spend a dime!
7 $70 christmas craft supplies
8 $50 gas, $7 groceries. I really need to pick it up if I'm going to meet my goal this month. Thankfully, the rest of the week should be no buy. Here's hoping!!
9 $0 :cool1:
10 $0 :cool1:
11 $0 :cool1:
12 $0 :cool1: Calling today early because we're not going anywhere but dinner at my parents' house so I won't be doing any spending today.
13 $0 :cool1:
14 $0 :cool1:
15 $50 gas, $9 lunch.
16 $0 :cool1:
17 $43 paper and ink (I'll be reimbursed for this, but I'll record it anyway), $10 hallmark for wrapping paper and birthday cards, $32Joanns birthday gifts, $21 dinner out with friends, $4 parking, $50 gift cards for DS's birthday dinner.
18 $30 Borders DS's bithday gift (December is a HUGE birthday month for us. We've been invited to 7 birthday parties already and I know there are more to come. Time to stock up on gifts), $31 hallmark yearly ornaments for DSs plus Silly Bandz for stockings, $30 gas, $13 misc food. On a plus note, DH and I went to dinner at PF Changs and did some shopping. Dinner was totally free because we had a couple of gift cards from running the marathon and a gift card from our bank. Can't beat free dinner!
19 $6 Joann's for thread, $9 groceries

10/17 No buy days

Nov 17 - $0
Nov 18 - TBD - I think I have library fines :(

Nov 17 - $0
Nov 18 - $0
Nov 19 - I anticipate some library fines (which I've never had before so I feel awful for it) & about $120 in groceries (which includes Thanksgiving groceries and food for the inlaws while they are here next week)

Welcome Tinkerbellie16! The unnecessary things are really adding up for me lately, too.

Thank you!

Well, today I did something I never do. DH and I are both sick, so I stopped at Publix when I had another errand to run. I ended up with a box of fried chicken and a pile of junk food- chips, susie qs, donuts, etc. I did not have coupons for any of it. I guess I figured if we are staying in most of the weekend, we need comfort food. When DH sees what I bought, he is going to ask me if I have a fever. :-)

Thanks for posting the truth Virgderon. It helped me feel better about yesterday.

My target is NO fast food, NO eating out until we hit the road for Thanksgiving. But reality hit yesterday and DH ran to the grocery store about 5:30 to pick up prepared chicken.

I did manage mashing real potatoes from home rather than going with his idea of buying frozen mashed potatoes which are definitely more pricey than instant or making your own.

Today we are back on the wagon: leftover chicken is being cooked in a casserole with wild rice I got with a coupon and yellow peppers I bought on sale and froze.

Hope you guys are feeling a bit better. Or, at least, cozy at home for the weekend. Nobody does this perfectly. Or, at least, nobody I think it would be fun to be friends with in real life.

:lovestruc

To Annsteere and Vigderon, I think that the supermarket roast chicken is either the best thing going or the invention of the devil. Not sure which, but one jumps into my grocery cart once or twice a month.
