November -- what to wear?

Any suggestions on the type of clothing to pack for our cruise in November? Summer? I guess what I'm asking -- what are the temps like in November?

I'd bring a cardigan or two and some slacks/pants--it can get chilly in the evenings in Florida and on a ship in the middle of the ocean. Other than that--you should be safe with summer wear.

Layering is recommended as we approach the November and December months--as aFLoridian--I have been caught off guard just fine in summerwear in the daytime at the parks and then freezing at night when temps drop into the 70s/60s.

Hi. This should give you an idea of how warm it generally is in November. http://www.condoconcepts.com/weather/caribbean.htm

When we've cruised at that time of year, it's always been warm every day. At night the temps were probably in the low 70's at night outside. In my opinion it can sometimes get a little chilly indoors (especially in the theaters), so still plan to bring sweaters/jackets and some long sleeved items for nighttime.

Also, last year on our Castaway Cay day, it was breezy and chilly in the morning (probably high 60's) and I wished I had packed long sleeved tshirts for my children. It got warmer as the day progressed, but they were wrapped in towels for the first hour or two.

No, jeans are acceptable for day time wear. They just prefer you don't wear them to dinner, unless you are eating at the buffet.

I just love reading boards discussing temps and seeing the perspectives on what is cold and what is not cold. Not to pick on Lisa, but we in Atlanta have been having highs in the 70s, and that has been absolutely perfect weather for DW and I.;)

We wore summer clothes, with each of us bring a summer weight jacket. Don't forget that the dinning rooms are air conditioned, so even in the warm weather, it can get cool.

We had a frost in florida the day before our departure, but the next day in Nassau, we had shorts and tank tops on.

:D

I appreciate people posting their perception of the weather. I can look up temps on the internet all day long, but I get a much better picture of the weather when I read about what people are wearing at different times of the year and different times of the day. And I know that some people respond differently to the same weather (especially people outside of the southern USA!), but I really am glad that people are taking the time to post specifics about what they wore or wished that they had worn.

And TiggerKing -- I love the weather we're having now, but DS is freezing all of the time!

I'm used to it Tiggerking ;) I get made fun of alot--but I've seen alot of vacationers do the same thing. I had a yankee tell me I was crazy to think it gets cold in Florida--and no matter how much I tried to defend that 30 degrees is cold anywhere--I was still made fun of.:hyper:

When you have 4-6 months of temps in the mid to high 90s--the 70s after the sun goes down can feel chilly, considering breezes and such.

70s in the daytime is great--but running around in a tank and daisy duke shorts (an extreme, I know) in the evening--you might be chilly.:hyper: I would recommend alternate evening wardobe in this case.

You'd love this Tiggerking--below 70--I have to exercise with something covering my ears (ala earmuffs). Mostly b/c I get ear pain from the cool air blowing against my ears--but it does look comical to see me running in ear muffs when its in the 60s :)

I thought that I was the only freak out there! I get that pain in my ears too from the blowing wind. Then I get a terrible headache sometimes after!

I think that it's been nice here in Atlanta- if you like wearing one thing when you get up and then changing later!;)

As I posted before, be prepared for all contingencies. We have gone to Florida (MK) and frozen in January wearing sweatshirts at night, then- one year later- roasted in our sweatshirts while it was 88 at night!

Layering is key, I think! Enjoy your November cruise, mom of three!

We've cruised end of Oct and early Nov and never been "chilly". On the first cruise a front blew through Florida the night before we got off the ship and it was in the low 60's when we headed to the parks. It was the BEST day in the parks because it wasn't hot! I think the high may have been 80, but no humidity.

We wore most sleeveless tops and dresses on the cruise and were fine, but we are all warm-blooded folks and don't tend to get cold easily.

I am sooo glad you said that--I thought I was a freak for this. Glad I am not the only one :)

Ear muffs--or those headband looking things that cover your ears work like a charm for me.

So true on the sweatshirts too.

This is why I only suggested bringing a cardigan or two and a pair of pants or two--I would still pack for summery weather that is on the humidity-free side of things.

We went on a december cruise when I was 15 to recover from Hurricane Hugo--packed all summer things--mom suggested 1 pair of pants and a sweatshirt just in case. Didn't use them on our 4 day cruise until disembarkation day. It was overcast, misty rain, and I think maybe in the low 60s. We wore the same outfits for the next 3 days. It was Dec 1989 and one of the very very very few times it snowed in Florida. We left Miami late due to a broken down vehicle. The next day--it took us like 6 hours to travel from Daytona to Jacksonville. By the time we exited Jax--it was dark. Freezing temps on all travel days by the way.

In November you should be fine--but weather here can change on a wim--and all it takes is a cold front--check the weather channel before you leave and local newsstations to see if a front is forecasted anytime during your Florida part of your stay. And pack 1 or 2 outfits for cooler weather so you won't be freezing your daisy dukes off in the off chance of a cold spell :hyper:

Enjoy your cruise--chance are you will have nice summery weather on your cruise especially and your Disney stay will have nice weather as well.

Now I must go--it is in the mid-80s. Must find my mittens and sweater. :scratchin

It's good to hear your comments
We're comong over from Scotland where just now it's running at 9C so I think we'll be warm enough!

As a Floridian I can understand. But coming from someone who tends to vacation in Nov/Dec and lives in the northeast, we rarely come out of our shorts and t-shirts unless it drops into the 50's ! For us in the northeast, temps of 60-70 in Nov/Dec is downright balmy to us ! lol
From my experience, vacationing in early and late Nov and early Dec, it has gotten chilly enough (40's and 50's at night) to wear jeans and a light jacket. One year (I believe it was '99) it was in the mid 40's at Epcot the first week of Nov at night. During the day it was low 80's.

If it makes you feel better--we have seen many times--lots of vacationers swimming in the pools on what I would consider a cold wintry (okay, Fla wintry) evening--temps maybe in the 50s or less..the water is "heated" but not enough for me--and they were hanging in the water just fine.

It really is amazing how the body can fool itself. We've been known to swim in the pools at WDW in the low 60's but not quite the 50's.
It's funny too, from the perspective of someone living in the northeast who has to deal with cold the majority of the year, we'd never consider swimming if it was 50 or 60 degrees in August. Yet somehow that seems so nice and warm in Nov/Dec/Jan etc.

edited because my post came through twice. Having trouble with the boards lagging tonight.
