NOVEMBER: Thankful is as thankful does.

Welcome to the November 2021 W.I.S.H. (We're Inspired to Stay Healthy) Challenge!
We're here to support each other with kindness as we each work on becoming or staying healthy. Everyone is invited, and we're looking forward to catching up with regulars and welcoming newcomers! So introduce yourself, post your personal goals, and join in the fun!

We have weekly volunteer hosts, and typically follow a Monday-Sunday format:

Motivation Monday,
Topic Tuesday,
WooHoo Wednesday,
Thoughtful Thursday... let's mix it up a little bit this month by posting daily thankful's and being thoughtful on Thursday
Free For All Friday,
Social Saturday, &
Self-Care Sunday.

This month's hosts are:
Week 1 - Nov 1 to 7... Oneanne
Week 2 - Nov 8 to 14... Summer2018

Week 3 - Nov 15 to 21... Sjrec
Week 4 - Nov 22 to 28...

618331

Take a moment to introduce yourself and lay out some goals for November. As, note the little switcheroo for this month: let's post something every day that we are thankful for, along with our other daily conversations, and let's make Thursday our Thoughtful day... as in what's on your mind that you've been thinking about, what new ideas have you discovered, questions you've been pondering?

Hello, Lizanne here... living in beautiful Seattle, at least when the sun is shining! Still working on living a healthy lifestyle, which includes getting weight off and getting more exercise.

November goals:
Lose 5 pounds
Walk an average of 5000 steps per day, including getting outside for at least 3 walks each week.
Read two books
Listen to a podcast per week

Motivation for this week... a fresh start. I'm stepping out of October, dusting myself off and getting going in a healthful direction again.

Monday thankful… the last two days of perfect weather.

Hi! I'm Nicole (51) in southeastern Massachusetts.

For November, I'm working on upping exercise a little, trying to avoid getting into ruts with healthy eating, and continuing with decluttering.

Thankful for starting my morning with a great cup of coffee and a new episode of Call the Midwife that magically appeared in my DVR. :wizard:

Hi I am Stephanie from Northeast Ohio.

For November I want to lose 2 pounds by getting on the treadmill more and going for walks when the weather isn't to bad.

It is really cold this morning and I was up super late so I don't have much motivation at the moment. I can just curl up in bed for the rest of the day. I will get my walking in today as I saw a picture of me from this weekend and I looked horrible and the dress I was going to wear for my costume did not fit anymore. I looked about 4-5 months pregnant in it. I still have so much more to lose.

Hi, Sandy from south central Pa and Ocean City Md.
Working on losing the 8-10lbs I have gained over the past year.

Walk 5x a week
Plan healthy meals for dinners and leftovers.
I like Oneanne’s podcast goal and will copy that-I already read (a lot) but I know I would enjoy this. A friend gave me a list of her favorites to try.

Can’t believe it’s November!

Hi I'm Shannon from currently sunny and cold RI.
My goal for the month is to not gain weight and to up my excersize enough to bring my resting heart rate a smidge lower. It was creeping up into the low 100s last winter but is thankfully now in the low 80s so my goal is to keep it there.
My other goal is to try to keep my stress level down...between work, scouts, PTA, the kids schedules things are nutty so keeping my stress level at a moderate level will go a long way to helping me meet my other healthy goals.
Thankful today that the kids bus drivers union signed a new contract so the possibility of a strike or sick out on any given day is finally gone!

Summer
Live in Fairfield County...enjoying the beautiful colorful trees in my area.
Mommy, Wife, Kindergarten Teacher in an inner city public school.
Look perpetually pregnant...need to lose enough to wear regular sizes and save my knees, hips, and back.
Walk on treadmill and swim in the summer (getting a heater for the pool so I can swim 6 months instead of 3 months).
Follow concepts learned using Noom.
Inspired by all of you.

Unfortunately, my side effects did get a lot worse during the day on Sunday, but thankfully by this morning, I only had a headache and a VERY ITCHY AND RED arm. The way my students can't keep their masks on correctly and so many in my building walk around with their noses out, I am very grateful that I got the booster. I am thankful that as of this morning, everyone
in my household got the booster.

One of my students basically slept the day away. Many were absent. The two worst of the "Naughties" were horrific today. One of the specialists was expecting more from my Para than she could reasonably do, and she was rude to her to the point of hurting my Para's feelings. This woman is very harsh towards others. I have been targeted by her in the past, and worked very hard over the years at disarming her with kindness. Well after defending my Para to her and the Principal, I am now back on her sh*t list. Yay. Fortunately, I am off for Election Day, which is a special treat since we always had to lead or attend workshops in the past. I really need tomorrow to recover from the kids, and the nasty adult who should know better.

Good on you for sticking up for your para-that specialist sounds like a bully.

Today has been such a crappy day and it is going to be a crappy week. Back when I was 19 I had pre-cancer cells on my cervix that I had cut out. Today, I had my yearly check up and she found a spot on my cervix that didn't look right. She did a biopsy while I was in the office. This is a new doctor for me. I switched to her because I really liked her after seeing her with my daughter back in July and she is only 5 minutes from my house instead of an hour for the one I was seeing. She told me this spot could be normal for me or it could be just changes from getting older but she didn't want to take any chances and didn't want to wait for the pap test to come back. I am glad that she did the biopsy today instead of having me come back. I should know by the beginning of next week but she thinks I will know by Friday. I ended up taking the rest of the day off. I just couldn't finish work after this. I am cramping and I got really worked up as well. I think between the both I made myself really sick to my stomach. So I didn't get my steps in and we will see how I feel tomorrow. I am just going to take it day by day and see how I feel. I might need to take care of me mentally rather then physically this week. I hate having to wait for results.

On top of all this Insurance had me do an external review of the ER claim that they denied for DD. It was denied and is binding. My only option is to get the hospital to do their 2 appeals that they have denied doing. I spent over an hour on the phone with insurance earlier this morning. It is so frustrating. They claim that it was not an emergency and that any lay person would know. She was coughing non stop for over an hour and couldn't catch her breath. They feel I should have called their nurse line first so they could tell me urgicares in the area to go to. They were all closed because it was a holiday and so was the pediatrician. So basically I needed to call the nurse line for them to tell me it was ok to go to the ER while my daughter couldn't breath when the ER is about 5 minutes away. SO as of right now I have call into patient relations at the hospital to see what we can get them to do. The most frustrating thing is that they covered it for the day before when we took her to the ER for the exact same thing. Both times were told it was asthma. The first visit they coded it as asthma but the second day a cough. Just so frustrating

Being in limbo for a week can really be tough. We're here for you <3.

TUESDAY TOPIC: Wow, I did that!

Let's see if we can round up some positive vibes to start the month with. Think back over you life to find a couple things that you did, that in hindsight seem pretty amazing. And give yourself a well earned pat on the back.

Plus a daily thankful.

I'm thankful I'm feeling better. Booster shots are not fun and this stupid virus better be gone before I need another one!

I'm Linda, an empty nester from the Pacific NW. DH and I have an anniversary this month and near that time I'm taking a four day weekend. We haven't talked about if we will travel or not.

I think this month I will track my food instead of just my exercise. I figured out that why I always track my exercise is that it is easy. It's harder to figure out exactly what that casserole has in it and how big a piece I ate. So I'm going to try to be careful and exact this month.

My mother died of cancer during my first semester of college. My father moved to Florida two months later leaving me with the mortgage and bills. I took in roommates, worked full-time nights and weekends, and put myself through college.

I met my husband a year after graduation, and we were engaged and married in 8 months. We paid for our own wedding.

When we tried to have a baby, we found out that I was infertile. I went through three years of surgeries, fertility treatments, IVF, and became pregnant with twins. One, my daughter, survived. I had a traumatic birth, but she was worth every moment of struggle.

I have more, but these were the most difficult and important things I have ever done.

I am thankful for overcoming difficult situations because they made me stronger. I am thankful mostly for my daughter, the light of my life.
