We were last at WDW in November 2003 (7th to the 15th), we picked that week because Veterans Day. That year, the holiday fell on a Tuesday and our school district (Scarborough, Maine) also took Monday off. Because of that, we were able to be gone for six weekdays but our kids (seven and ten at the time) only missed four days of school.
We were up against "Jersey week", the "Food and Wine Festival" and the "Soap Weekend" but it didn't really effect us much. The crowds were moderate, by using "Fastpass" and hitting the big attractions early, our longest waits were no more than 20 minutes in most cases.
The weather was great. The temps were 70's into the mid 80's with only one day of rain. Our Typhoon Lagoon day was 85 with bright sunshine.
We liked the time so much we are going back this year for another week (11/4 to 11/12). This year our school system is taking two days off in addition to the holiday so our kids are only missing three days of school!
I've read a lot on this site about the possibility of bigger crowds this year due to a better economy, more conventions and/or better marketing by Disney. It would have to be a huge jump to adversely effect what has been a traditionally slow time of year.
