November - "The slow time"

We are going from November 10-20 and I understand that this is one of the best times to go both weather-wise and crowd-wise, which is great!

What I'm wondering is, if this is one of the slowest times of the year, is it still necessary to be at the gates at rope drop. I realize that this is always the best option, but there are 11 of us going and not everyone is excited about my suggestions that we must be there when the parks open. They have the view that we shouldn't have to wake up early on our vacation, which I totally get, I don't like getting up early either! But if we do sleep in, are going to miss out on too much showing up later, even if it is during this "slow" time.

You should be fine if you sleep in a little bit. Getting to rope drop is generally to beat the crowds which are much thinner that time of year. No, you won't have the head-start that the people who were at rope drop will, and you might miss one or two things, but it won't be an emergency if you snooze a little longer in the morning. I wouldn't suggest getting there much past 11:00 AM if you want to try to do everything, but rope drop isn't super necessary in the off season.

We have gone in November twice, and the weather was perfect. We found that the crowds were still heavy at times. One of the weeks we went there was a huge convention which made the parks very crowded. There was also a hurricane in southern Florida that week and vacationers down there came up to vacation at Disney instead that week. Crowd levels can be hard to predict. I would still recommend rope drop when you are able. You can also see what the crowds look like when you go and determine when you get there. November is still a wonderful time to go.
