November Check In 2010

Thanks for the update for when holiday time starts. We'll get a couple days without it and a couple days with it which will be nice. :flower3:

Great pics Marie and thanks for keeping everything updated!

I'm watching a PBS show on the Monterey Aquarium and I think we'll have to take our GS next year, he'll love it. I love going back there, it so beautiful and hands on for the kids.

Phooey! Nobody new to add today. Oh well.... the rest of us that are already here can still enjoy the thread!
yes.gif

This is a brilliant idea!! It'll really help everyone's planning. I can't wait until the schedule's start showing for November, that will be when it really starts to sink in that we are going to Disneyland!!!
Cool! It's not often that I do anything called brilliant!
LMAO_F.gif
I am glad you liked it and hope it is truly beneficial to others that find this thread.
I agree! Can't wait for the November schedule to show up! Another something that always makes it seem really close is when our countdown dips into the double digits. As a matter of fact some at the top of our list may already be there! I'm down to 106! :yay:

thanks I was wondering what was going to be done for refurbishments.
You are very welcome! It's looking good for us in November. So far no major major rides. I can personally do fine without Star Tours or Roger Rabbit but my bunch has a really major upset when we show up and something like Splash or Pirates is down. Will be crossing my fingers
Cross_Fingers.png
that it stays this way! I know Alice in Wonderland was recently closed temporarily. I do hope they get that one back up and running by our trip.

Unfortunately it looks like Mickey's birthday doesn't get much fanfare anymore! :sad2: I think we will visit Mickey at his house on his birthday with party hats. My kids will get a kick out of singing him happy birthday.

I forgot about the cookie decorating!! That was so much fun last year. And a nice way to get some downtime away from the crowds.
Well okay.... if I can't get a slice of birthday cake singing Happy Birthday to Mickey will have to do. Actually, I think your idea is fantastic... even brilliant! ;) Hey! Maybe that would be a good idea for a DIS meet! We could all meet at Mickey's house to sing for him!
Oh, don't forget the cookie decorating! It was really so much fun! My DD loved the cookies, coloring, games, and even participating in the show. She is such a big ham for getting on stage!

It wasn't your mistake Mariezp, it was mine. I had been thinking of the week of the 12th or the 19th for our trip, and somehow it came out that we were coming the 12-19th. I WISH!

I ordered all our tickets! SeaWorld is having a special that a child's ticket is only $5 with the purchase of an adult ticket. So I saved us $80 on our tickets from what I had previously figured. I went ahead and ordered our Disney tickets today, since there is a rumor the price tends to go up early August. I just got the 2 day park hoppers. I think my daughter is going to be really exhausted and overwhelmed as it is, so I decided not to tempt myself to push it. I have a feeling we'll be very overwhelmed and jetlagged after our flight, so the pizza and a movie sounds better than experiencing Disneyland for the first time, for two hours! LOL!

The only thing I have left to figure out are our shuttles. I'm going to wait until the November schedule comes out for Disneyland before deciding which day to go to SeaWorld. I'm thinking if it works out that we can split our Disney days so we can get a break in between.
AHA! SO..... I am going to have to keep my eye on you!
Magnify-1.gif
Actually, I thought I had goofed up the dates on one of our princesses around here. My luck it was probably both you and her! Hopefully, it is all straight now but if it is not ya'll be sure to straighten me out! Are your dates correct now?
Congrats on the great deal on tickets! I bet you are probably doing the right thing on your arrival day. If you had more than 2 hours it would be worth it for sure but 2 hours is kinda iffy.

That's kind of a bummer,... Cute idea for the kids though.

I will probably make a day trip around that time, but was going to go that day is something was going on.

TB
Maybe we can make our own thing happen!

Happy birthday dear Mickey! Happy Birthday to you!!!!

That's a good way to do it! Actually we will too! :cheer2:

Glad you enjoyed the pics!
There are lots of wonderful things to see in California though I have never made it the Monterey Aquarium. Bet it will be great! :thumbsup2
The first few years we took our trips, we took off and saw some extra sites on the weekends to get away from the extra crowds in the park. We saw a lot of cool things like Legoland, Sea World, Knott's Berry Farm, Morey Mansion, Catalina Island, The Queen Mary, Sequoia National Park, 101 highway coastal drive, San Diego Wild Animal Park, corn mazes, Hollywood tour, and Grauman's Chinese Theatre but we appear to have gotten our wanderlust out of our system and just spend all our time at the park now and avoid getting out in the crazy  California traffic! Well, with the exception of taking my son to visit the Gracie Jui-Jitsu gym once per trip.

On a funny side note....
While at church yesterday my DD informed me that our preacher looked like Walt Disney. Don't know why I had never thought of it before but he could bear a slight resemblance, especially to a 10 year old, don't you think? Funnier still... his name is Roy.
roywalt-1.jpg

I received my MouseSavers newletter this morning which confirmed a little reminder:
"For the past several years Walt Disney World and Disneyland ticket prices have gone up on the first Sunday in August. Now is the time to purchase tickets for upcoming trips!" So..... guess where I am off to next?

The newsletter also confirmed another topic we have discussed.
One of their members "recieved an e-mail from Disney Destinations that gives Disneyland's holiday season as between November 12, 2010 to January 3, 2011. Based on past years, you can expect performances of A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe in Holiday Magic Fireworks to begin on Friday, November 12."

Did you know ....
Before your trip you can check out the park hours and entertainment schedules. November is not showing yet but will most likely be up late August or early September. http://disneyland.disney.go.com/calendar/?name=CalendarMonthlyPage#monthly

You can pick up discounted Character Dining Vouchers online, in advance of your trip, through GetAwayToday.com.

If you have a Disney Visa card you can rent up to two strollers at a discount of 50% at either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure. This offer is valid only at the Main Gate rental location between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

Members of the Rainforest Cafe get priority seating when available (which makes a huge difference on busy days), and a 10% discount on entrees for up to four people. Additionally, after signing up, your membership card will be mailed to you and be accompanied by a $10 award good for your next visit to a Rainforest Cafe. So if you know you will be eating there while at Disneyland and have a Rainforest Cafe local to you, it may make sense to prejoin the Safari Club so that you can use the award during your trip. See the Rainforest Cafe Web site for details.

Magic Morning is a ticket bonus add-on for 3-, 4-, or 5-day park hopper tickets purchased directly from the Disneyland.com Web site or through selected ticket resellers. Each ticket can be used for one Magic Morning entry, which are on each Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Magic Morning entrance allows you into the park one-hour before park opening and access to Main Street, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. Most shops and dining on Main Street will be open. Select stores and rides in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland will also be open. While specifics can change without notice the rides normally open during Magic Mornings are:
* Fantasyland: Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, King Arthur Carrousel, Mad Tea Party, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Peter Pan's Flight, Pinocchio's Daring Journey, Snow White's Scary Adventure
* Tomorrowland: Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Disneyland Monorail, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Space Mountain
Additionally, guests of the Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian Hotel, and Paradise Pier Hotel can also take advantage of any Magic Morning by showing their room key with park admission. As always, these details are subject to change without notice and for any reason so be sure to confirm current details.

Toontown Morning Madness is a ticket bonus add-on attached to most tickets included in travel packages purchased through Walt Disney Travel Company. Each ticket can be used for one Toontown Morning Madness during your stay and will get you access to the Mickey's Toontown land inside Disneyland one hour early (usually, the land opens one hour later than the rest of Disneyland). Rides inside Toontown won't be running but there will be plenty of character meet-and-greet opportunities and the chance to tour the character houses without long lines.
Toontown Magic Mornings are currently available each Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday (as always subject to change without notice). This means that on Saturdays it is possible to combine use of both a Magic Morning and Morning Madness ticket add-on if you have them.

Late Departure: There are currently no programs or offers that would allow you to spend extra time in the park at the end of the day. However, for an hour after official closing, stores on Main Street remain open "for your shopping convenience."

Ha ha!! I beat MouseSavers to the punch in announcing the official holiday start date! I did it first!!:cool1: I scooped them, as they say in the journalism biz!! Tell all those peeps on MouseSavers that you heard it on the DIS first!! Woo hoo!!

Odd thing is - it doesn't sound like everyone received that same e-mail from Disney Destinations (DNews) that I got and the mystery MouseSavers member got. I haven't heard too many other folks refer to it. Actually, I'm sure that many more folks probably got it than we realize, BUT perhaps they didn't see the little spot on the lower right-hand side that indicated the DLR holiday start date. It would have been kind of easy to overlook so I can picture many folks missing it.

I just saw this information regarding closure of the Castaway Cove at HoJo. They will be closed Nov. 1st through the 7th. Here is the article.

I'm glad I didn't pick that week to go, my kids would have been so sad.

We get there on the 6th but wont be needing it until Tuesday (Thank goodness!!) Is it really warm enough in November to go swimming??? Up here in the great white north I wouldn't dare go outside in a bathingsuit in November, I'd probably get committed :lmao:

Avg highs for Anaheim in November is 74. We were there Halloween weekend last year and really wished we'd packed our suits.

Exciting news today! First off I got to add a new name to our list AND.....
I got our park tickets today!!!!! I am so excited! Now all I need to do is just make sure to find a way for us to get there. Still holding our for a price drop but I have a feeling I am going to panic soon!

YEP! You know your stuff even better than the big shots! We are glad we have you to keep us informed ahead of the crowd!

4 of us are going from 11/19-11/28. We still havent figured out the hotel yet.
Glad you decided to join us. Do you have any hotels in mind or anything specific you are looking for? There's certainly no shortage of choices!

Luckily it won't affect me since we will be staying elsewhere. In our case we have never gotten around to spending time in the pool anyway. Everyone would rather be at the park. BUT thanks for posting the info just in case someone here might be disappointed to arrive at Hojo to find the pool closed.

That's one of the great things about California. It is usually great weather! In November it is cooler in the mornings and evenings but mid day can get pretty warm.

Don't foget to bring them this year.... just in case!

This just made my whole trip that much better!!!:banana: I wish they had a banana dancing in a bikini, :rotfl2:
Well, I have searched high and low but haven't been able to locate a bikini clad dancing banana. I could find a dancing bikini cat
catbikini.gif

or a dancing bikini girl
bikini.gif

or bikini smilie
bikini-emoticon.gif
but still no banana dancing in a bikini. :confused3

I guess if all else fails you can do your own dance and just jump right in the pool and imagine this smiley is wearing a bikini or you are skinny dipping.

Yes, indeed sometimes I do have too much time on my hands. Anything to help pass the time in between now and November!!!! :rotfl:

I'm still holding out with you. Other than SW, fares have been going up by $15-$25 for a day or so, then dropping right back down. I remember it was about this time last year that we were waiting for fares to drop for our October trip and the same thing was happening, so I was panicking. Then, in early August, they dropped a lot; not quite as much as we'd hoped for, but enough that we jumped on them and bought. I'm hoping that will happen again but, if not, we'll just go with SW, which is still about $80pp more than we paid a year ago.

The fares we've been tracking on SW have dropped by $17 today. Still hoping it will drop below $200 r/t, which is still a lot more than we paid last year.

Just checked Jet Blue, (we booked with them a week ago). They're just barely below $200 RT from Salt lake to long beach. I'm kicking myself, I could have saved 20-30$ per person rt..:sad2:

Greetings to you all the way out there in Australia! I have added you to the list. Do you know where you will be staying and I can add that too.
Lucky you getting to go twice! Glad your son is getting to finally make it back again too. Very nice graduation present! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the image of the dancing bikini cat, Mariezp! I won't be able to burn that from my brain anytime soon, lol! Hopefully I won't have to explain outbreaks of the giggles at work today... Congratulations on getting your Disney tickets! Your one step closer!
Glad you enjoyed it! I wasn't sure if I really should get so carried away with the smileys but I got on a roll and just couldn't stop! The bikini kitty seems to be the favorite. I hope she livened up your day at work!

I am so thrilled to have finally gotten something done on our trip. Having those APs in my hands gives me something to make the trip seem real. No stopping me now! I may have mentioned this before but I don't remember for sure cause I am just goofy that way but I will share again just in case someone can benefit. I used my Discover card to purchase our tickets. Right now and through September if you sign up for their bonus offer you can get 5% cash back on theme park tickets. Not bad! I'm going to put my bonus back into a gift card and will have almost $60 to take to the park! Now if those darn airline tickets will just go down!!!

Speaking of those darn sky high tickets I received an e-mail this morning and was so hopeful but ALAS my hopes were shot right out of the sky! As usual, the discount was not for my airport. Anyone still looking might check American. They have a very nice sale going. Maybe someone will get luckier than I did.

I'm still holding out with you. Other than SW, fares have been going up by $15-$25 for a day or so, then dropping right back down. Sounds about like American right now. Up and down but not enough to have lured me in just yet. If your past trip offers any sort of pattern perhaps fares will go down 2 months ahead of time which in our case would be in early September. Your dates are like mine and we will be traveling during the Thanksgiving rush. Have you flown before at that time? Someone told me that they were not likely to drop but would more than likely continue to go up. I hope I don't hold out and end up with $500 tickets! I learned one thing from last year. I am just about right smack in the middle between DL and WDW. It is so much cheaper to fly to WDW. Guess that's why so many people go there instead. Not me. I'd rather pay the difference and be in DL!

Just checked Jet Blue, (we booked with them a week ago). They're just barely below $200 RT from Salt lake to long beach. I'm kicking myself, I could have saved 20-30$ per person rt..:sad2:
Does stink when you find out they went down. Guess that's why I never go back and look! I don't want to know. Right now I would love to just have your higher airfare!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ok, so I missed posting this yesterday

WAHOO!! 100 DAYS!!!

And that of course means that today I am down to........

DOUBLE DIGITS!!!! 99 DAYS TO GO!!!!

My daughter (6) and I made our Disneyland countdown chain and she got to take the first ring off this morning. She's very excited and we try to do something Disney every day, whether it be colouring or watching Disney shows or just talking about our plans. Of course she'd be happy if we could leave tomorrow, lol, but then again so would I :rotfl:

Where is everyone on their countdowns??? :cool1:

Littleprincess2010, congratulations on dipping below 100! I am right behind you at 103. Won't be long now!

You have some wonderful ideas for getting in the Disney mood before your trip. I love the chain idea! May have to make one of those myself! If you don't mind please post us a picture so we can see what yours looks like.
I know around our house we never have a shortage of someone mentioning Disney pretty much everyday but the trip getting closer sure does bring the subject up a lot more often!
