November 9, 2006 Wonder

I haven't seen that particular mnemonic before, but I'm guessing it stands for Lime Green Mickey Head.

:thumbsup2 YOu're Right! Not sure which board I saw it on - I certainly didn't make it up. I figure maybe I'll try to just laminate it into an ID tag for my camera.

Got Red, White and Blue Mickey heads to ehlp with the door sign.

I can never find any of the LGMH's when I'm at Home Depot (must have a bunch of DISers here in San Antonio grabbing them all :tilt: !!). I check for a new shipment everytime I go in.

Instead, I cut out a homemade (read slightly-flawed) Mickey head from lime green thin foam and attached magnets to the back to create a door sign. Still need some of the Home Depot paint samples, though, to make a name tag to wear to DIS meets.

Oh nooo....the weatherman is predicting a 60% chance of scattered THUNDERSTORMS in the Bahamas!!!! (per the 10 day forecast online)

Has anyone ever on this thread ever cruised in bad weather? I'm new to cruising and would love to know what my family and I should expect. Will the captain re-route the ship to better weather or will we just have to brave the storm?

Just wondering.

Mint Addiction,

First of all, don’t put too much stock in the weather forecast. :happytv: Many times the thunderstorms come and go within an hour’s time. When I sailed the Wonder in July we got to Nassau and out of the blue a storm blew in and there was a deluge for nearly an hour (I was standing in one of the alleys watching the water rise up to the door sills of the shops along the street) and an hour after that the rain was gone, the clouds were gone, the water along the street had drained away and it was back to normal.:beach:

On short cruises like this there isn’t a whole lot the captain can do. I’ve heard that some cruises have reversed the order of the ports to get better weather, but with only two ports of call in close proximity to each other, that might not be very effective. Again, on the July cruise after leaving Nassau on the way to Castaway Cay there were local squalls popping up along the route. :sail: The captain sailed out a bit and found a calm area so we could all enjoy the Pirates IN the Caribbean party and the fireworks. Rest assured, the captain will do everything he can to get us into clear weather, but sometimes it can’t be done in the time and space available. In those cases, put a smile on your face and soak up some liquid sunshine!

If it starts raining when I’m trying to enjoy a beach day, I just head into the ocean. Then it doesn’t matter how much it rains…I’m wet anyway. It can put a damper on things (no pun intended), but it’s not worth stressing about. Also, it’s cool to sit on the balcony or up on Deck 10 at night and watch the lightning in the distance as you sail along.

Here’s hoping for some pixie dust pixiedust: for the cruise to ward off any major thunderstorms!

N.j. Teachers Convention Week Is The Best. Two Days Off For The Kids Plus The Weekend. It's Great. Last Year It Seemed Like Of All The People In Orlando And On The Wonder, Most Were From Jersey. In Response To Tekmnky, We're A Family Of Three, Husband, Wife, And 8-year Old Daughter. Thanks To Her, We Got Same Stateroom As Last Year. Weather Forecast Isn't That Great.

We're flying into Orlando the evening before the cruise. We're just going to stay at the Hyatt Regency Airport. After the cruise, we're going to mellow out at the AKL for one day, then head back to work and school on Monday. Can't wait to get back on the Wonder. We were in Nassau in April and saw the Wonder in port. Daughter wanted to stow away, but I told her she had to wait.

tekmnky,
Thanks so much for the reply. I feel so much better about the weather. I appreciate the pixie dust....

We are on the cruise also. Me and my two beautiful blonde girls, DW and DD(2).
The DD is from our first Disney Cruise.

Hey drdelsol :wave2: !! :welcome: to the cruise! :boat: !!

Do you change color in the sunlight like the Del Sol t-shirts?:teeth:

If DD(2) is from your last Disney cruise you must have spent too much time in the stateroom or the RASUL treatment;) ;) !!

Don't forget to join us at a DISboarder's informal get-together in the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3 at 3:00 pm on Thursday after boarding!:chat:

Hello To Everyone Who Will Be Cruising On The Wonder November 9. Hope We All Have A Magical Time. Has Anyone Else Done The On Line Check In? Do You Know What Papers We Need At The Port? We Have The On Line Check In Signature (contract) Form, Immigration Forms For Each Of Us, And Payment (credit Card) Authorization. Is There Anything Else? We Have Passports And Separate Photo I.d.'s For Each Of Us. I Think That's All We Need.

I think that is all you need, that's all we have. Can you feel the ship moving yet?

I Think I Started Swaying With The Ship Sometime Last Week. We're Definitely Getting Excited And Counting Down. Has Anyone On The Boards Attended A Castaway Club Reception Yet? I've Read That It Is Tacky With Warm Soda And Crunchies Served Only. Is It Worth Taking The Time To Attend?

I've been reading the same thing. I'll still go - if it's bad, I can leave. You never know, we might be on the first cruise where DCL makes a positive change to the activity, especially if they've been paying attention to the message boards and comment cards!

I've been reading about the changes to the Castway Club reception too, doesn't sound too good. We were on the Magic in June and they still did a pretty nice affair then. What's that saying, if it isn't broke, don't fix it?
