This is our first cruise, so I don't know all the details. But from reading trip reports, it seems like Pirate night is usually on the Castaway Cay day.
We are really debating Nassau. We usually like to explore places we haven't seen before, but it looks like Atlantis is really the only thing worth seeing, and it costs an arm and a leg to do anything there. So we're still on the fence.
Welcome Eeyoresmountailpals!
2 Pirates: Welcome! We are from jersey shore as well and will be at the Beach Club for the 3 days prior to the cruise. Never stayed there before, but heard amazing things about it. I spent days reading the Beach Club thread under Disboards resorts. Great info there.
I have spent days pouring over the dining reviews & trip reports. The pool at the BC looks great!I hope the weather is warm enough to use it!
Are you using disney trans. to get to the pier?
I took my one DS last October and we did the open water snorkeling and we also had time to walk around and see a little bit of Nassau right there at the port. We had a blast snorkeling. Not sure if that's anything you'd be interested in. I think it was $45 per person.
This year I'm taking another DS. He has Down Syndrome and I'm just not real comfortable with the idea of the open water snorkeling with him. I think we'll just walk around Nassau a little and then head back to the ship. Nice thing about that is the ship isn't nearly as crowded when it's in port.
Hi Everyone,
Sorry I haven't responded to anything, but september has been a very busy month for me. Our boys are so excited about this cruise! Last year we did a Carnival cruise and while we were in Nassua we did the Blackbeard's Cay experience. Carnival offered just the beach experience (no food or stingrays) and it cost us 100.00 for all 4 of us. We had a quiet day on the beach. We were thinking about doing it again, but we can't justify going to the same place for double the price.
We are thinking about staying on the ship and taking a walk through town. Whe I called DCL the CM told me the pirate party is usually on the Castaway Cay Night. We scheduled Palo for the last night because the CM told me you eat in the same restuarant on the 1st & 4th night. We aren't sure we want to miss our last night with our servers. Any suggestions?
My DH and DS are hoping they show the game on the big screen by the pool.
I think our feeling is that we've already spent much more on the cruise itself than we would on a normal vacation, so it's hard to justify shelling out more on the excursions. My daughter is 7, and my sons are 5 and 3, so they aren't quite ready for a lot of sightseeing, and they're all still beginners with swimming. Right now I think we're leaning towards taking a few pictures at the dock (so we can say we "set foot" in Nassau) and then enjoying a relatively empty boat! So we'll probably see you around...
I can't wait to see Castaway Cay, though. That's the part I'm looking forward to the most.![]()
Yeah, greetings from the other side of the atlantic.
We (2 adults) are also on the ship. It is our first cruise so we are a little nervous - only 4 weeks left.
We love Disneyworld, so this is the next step for us...
So long
Martin
