November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

We put turn the water heater to Vacation setting to save on Natural gas. We also need to pay the car insurance and homeowners insurance and property taxes before we go.

Happy Friday Dis Family!!!!!

Less than 21 days for arrival in Sunny Florida. We are finally doing the :banana:Happy Documents Dance:banana:. The last of the 12 finally arrived yesterday.

Traci - What great news about Tim. So lets concentrate on fruity drinks and laying pool side.:cool1:

Kathy - Prayers for you and your family. :dance3:

Vickie - Wow, Tooth and Sty in the same week. For the sty I use warm tea bags. It should reduce the swelling. Hope you get the tooth fix soon. I always carry a fix a fill kit when traveling because you never know when you"ll need it.

Lots of rest this week and feeling better...thanks. Hopefully getting magnets and FE done so I can prep the box to be mailed to ship.

Hello Everyone,

I'm Matthew and have just discovered these forums. We (Hanneke (wife) and Arwen (daughter 5) ) are getting very excited about the cruise. This will be the second one for us (we did Western Caribbean on the Magic in Dec 07)

Look forward to meeting you all on board.

Cheers
Matthew

I'm ready for a vacation!!!!

DH was watching DD for a few while I was working outside for a few. I came in and DD was having a meltdown for no apparent reason. I pick her up and she is hot. No wonder she isn't happy. Here we go again. I hope this isn't going to be a repeat of a couple weekend ago. Of course this happens on a Friday at 5:15pm, right after the pediatricians office closes. I'm just hoping that it is a fluke thing and short lived and that it isn't lasting effects of two weeks ago, now that the antibiotic has worn off.

On a more positive note, welcome Matthew! If you would like some lime green silicone wristbands, I have ordered some for our group. They are a fun way to be able to identify other DISers when we are on the ship.

In 3 weeks we will only have one more sleep until the cruise!!! Now, if we can all get healthy and stay healthy then we'll be ready.

Greg called DCL and we are docking at St. Thomas, so NO tendering. YEAH!!

Also here are the movies that are playing while we are on board, of course they are subject to change.

Bolt
Confessions fo a Shopaholic
Hanna Montana
Up
The Proposal
A Christmas Carol
Toy Story
G- Force
Surrogate

Kathy

Evening all. Been so busy lately I am just now catching up. I can't believe we leave in three weeks. So much to do.

Krista I have 3 5 year old girls.

Also remember not to count yourself.:goodvibes

Kathy

Kathy,

Is this because there is only 1 6yr old? Addie is currently 5 but will turn 6 on cruise and I never know what age group i stick her in. I remembered to not include my kids.:rolleyes1

Thanks

Krista

Shauna, I hope your baby feels better soon! The timing is terrible. Poor baby- and Mama too.

My kids are wondering- are the kids coming to the Dismeet? They definitely want to meet the other kids who'll be in the clubs with them. Is that usually done?

Christine

I think kids should come to the meet. It is before the muster drill so won't the parents want to keep them until after that anyway? I think it would be a great time for them to meet each other. The 2 other times I've been to a meet we've seen the kids.

Kathy--thanks for posting the movie list. DH will be excited that UP is most likely playing, he loves that movie. We are excited that A Christmas Carol will be showing. Does anyone know if the Walt Disney Theater is set up for 3D? I know that the Buena Vista Theater is, but my guess is that they'll show A Christmas Carol for movie night in the Walt Disney Theater. If not, we'll have to just go see it in the smaller theater. Most likely one of us will do that anyway because DD won't sit through a movie.

Welcome to all the newcomers, glad you found us!! Shauna, sorry to hear that your baby is not feeling well again. Hopefully she will feel better soon. Kathy, I hope that you are doing ok with everything with your mom. I know it is hard watching our parents go through things like that. My grandma is 93 and although her health is pretty good, she suffers from some dementia, and it is hard when I go there and she doesn't know who I am. I lived with her and my grandpa for most of my life. Thanks for posting the list of movies, there are several that I would like to see. I think that I will pass on the popcorn though.:lmao: I had to find a new dentist, since mine retired. What a nightmare!! Anyway, I will be able to get in to have my tooth looked at on Monday. I imagine it will have to have a crown, I just hope that they can get the permanent one back before we leave on the 30th. My eye is feeling better. I did the hot compresses, and that seemed to help.
Traci, great news about Tim. I think I will join you in that fruity drink. :drinking1
I agree that kids should be allowed at the meet, I will have been away from my grandbabies for a week by the time we get on the ship, so I will be needing to talk to some kids by that time. So if ya'll see me hanging out with them, don't think anything of it. It's just the grammy in me. I have a soft spot for kids and the elderly.
It is supposed to warm up here this weekend, and no rain. WhooHoo!! I spent three hours in the cold and pouring rain last night watching my niece play soccer, I wonder if that is why I am aching all over today? It is either that or the flu shot, not sure which.
Well, better get going, I think I am going to call it a night.
Have a great weekend!!
Vickie

Welcome, Matthew and family!

SO glad to hear we are docking in St. Thomas. I've been wanting to explore the Havensite shops. And I didn't 'love' downtown.

Before you order anything not on the menu ( the special of the day) downtown in St Thomas, check the price. We ordered the special - chicken noodle soup - it came in the smallest size deli container and set us back 5.50 each. The menu items were much more realistically priced.

We have a check list for predeparture.
water off
heat on hold at 50
water heater on vacation setting
computer, tvs, all electronics unplugged
remember the phone chargers
stop the mail - on line at USPS.com
deadbolt the garage door
draw the blinds
alert the neighbors to our absence.
give neighbor our itinerary and phone numbers.

Yesterday didn't turn out quite the way I planned. Temp went up to 102, blood pressure was up. Headache like you wouldn't believe. Spent 8 hours in the ER. Thought I might have the flu, but apparently the brochitus I had back in march never really left and chose yesterday to cause me a big problem. Never say never but I will have to be really REALLY sick to go back to that ER.

On the positive side, I'm excused from doing anything for a few days! No leaf raking, no gym ahhhhhhhh.

Happy Day, all!

Sorry I have been missing from these boards for so long. I have been really busy at work lately. Trying to get things together for our cruise. I can't believe it is only three weeks a way! I finally got my room number 6032. Has anyone had this room. I have heard from others that "incentive" cruisers will be assigned the least desirable rooms. When I looked it up on the DLC website it said that it was a room with a veranda. The incentive is supposed to be a Cat. 9 with ocean view. Could this be a mistake? If anybody knows whether this room is OK or if I should upgrade I would appreciate it.

I don't think it is a mistake. It sounds like most cruisers on our cruise who had a guarantee room ended up with a 2 or 3 category upgrade. Enjoy your veranda! I hope that when we take our DVC incentive cruise in Feb that we end up with that kind of upgrade as well. I don't think DCL would purposely assign less desirable rooms to incentive cruisers. The whole point of a guarantee is that they can move you around to free up space for the lower categories that they want to keep selling, and so that they can adjust numbers and such in the rooms for life boat purposes. If you wanted to upgrade, they'd charge you the price from your cat 9 room to upgrade it, so it would likely be a hefty amount. I looked into upgrading my cat 10 room (would have had to pay from a 12gty to a 9) and it was $900. You can go here to see reports about your room and rooms nearby http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/roomlist.cfm

Linda--get feeling better soon. Ugh, 8 hours in the ER, no fun. No more ER visits everyone, okay?

6032 is a GREAT room - category 6 - right near the forward elevator lobby, WITH a veranda! Why on earth would you be wanting to change it??
