November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

Welcome Melody glad you coould join us.
It was a pretty nice day here today. We plan to go to the covered bridge festival this weekend. Looking forward to seeing my other grandson.
Gail, Love the wedding pictures! Aren't weddings fun?
I have about finished my FE gifts. Yeah!! Just have one more thing to get made. I am hoping to get it done this weekend, hoping my son will help me figure something out. I am computer challenged so I rely on him for help.
I finally got my scrapbook page figured out. Has anyone else signed up for this? Just want to make sure I make enough. I think the last time I looked there were 7 of us? Is that right?
Got the updated list, Thanks Kathy.
Nite,
Vickie

WOO HOO! One month to go. :dance3:

Or, as I like to call it, the official start of PRE-CRUISE PANIC season!:scared1:
Gotta figure out Formal Night, Pirate Night and Semi Formal nights so that we don't look exactly the same as past cruise photos. Must get going on those FEs, add a few new door magnets, t-shirts, etc, etc, etc.

Oh, and must now eliminate food from my diet in order to compensate for the onboard pounds that always find their way to my stateroom!:confused3

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

No kidding!!

I haven't shopped AT ALL for DS- gotta hit that on Sunday. He needs new docker pants, dress shirts, and he wants a blazer or sport coat. SO unlike his father who wishes to only wear Aloha shirts the whole time.

I printed out my magnets today (4 staterooms!! Ours, inlaws, parents, and I'm making for our friends who will be on the Wonder while we are on the Magic!), but I haven't put them on my magnetic paper yet. My shirts have arrived... all designs are done... but I have promised myself I cannot work on them until my report cards are finished (due next week, grrr). Darn this whole work thing getting in the way of my shopping/creating!!

I haven't started on my scrap kit yet... I know what I want to do but haven't ordered my accessories yet. Next week! :rotfl2:

I need more of my FE gift and of course can't find any more of it... GRRRRRRR... again, more shopping next week...I still need one more thing to do as well.

And thanks a lot Donna, for reminding me about Pirate Night... I wonder if the kids fit into last year's costumes??? I hope so!!!! HAHAHA!!!

DD has the flu- so I was home with her today, DH did yesterday and will do tomorrow. I am hoping she can go to school Friday, it totally stinks to have to prep for a sub twice in the same week unexpectedly.

Hoping the rest of us don't get it! OF COURSE flu shots become available this Saturday. Figures!!

We got the seasonal flu shot yesterday, but heaven knows when the H1N1 will be in our doctor's office. I'll be grateful if we can please get it before we leave.

Hope your little one is better quickly!

Minnie, yes 7 for the scrapbook page swap is correct. We decided to make 10 in case we get a late joiner or two.

Traci - Pirate
Linda - Souvenirs from the Ship
Laurie - Fun at the Beach
Silly Little Pixie (Christine) - Sail Away Party
Stampin Shauna -
Minnie Mouse -
Dale & Bob - Fish Extenders

I worked on mine yesterday.

Good Morning, Everyone!

This time, I'm really UP rather than just a pause from sleeping. HOW are y'all this morning? LESS than a MONTH to go, now. Is anyone besides me EXCITED?!

Today, I will
  • figure out the packaging for my scrapbook pages
  • Take the gift stuff for the little girls out of it's packaging and pack it in the buckets to travel. Since we're driving down, I just cannot justify mailing a parcel to the ship.
  • Pack for the all day crop on Saturday. I'm driving over to Massachusetts tomorrow to spend the night with a friend before scrapping on Saturday.
  • go to the gym later

Hope everybody has a great day.

Good morning all,

Everyone should have a revised FE list now. If i missed you or you have trouble opening it please let me know. I wasnt thinking too clear yesterday and even send out my 2010 cruise mates list to Bob instead of the FE list:lmao: Not sure how I managed to do that one:confused3

PLEASE add 2 more adults to your list. Melody and her DH.
As soon as she gets me her info I will send out a new list with her room number on it.:thumbsup2

It is foggy and cold again today. Suppose to stay that way for another 3 or 4 days then rain is coming. I am not a fan of winter. Cant wait to be cruising where its nice and warm:goodvibes

Hope everyone gets to feeling better soon. We have had nasty headaches the last couple of days hoping it doesnt turn into anything worse:scared1:

Greg still need to get some shorts and tennis shoes before the cruise. He may get them after work today. He needs time to break in the new shoes before going to WDW for a week. That is no place to break in new shoes.

I got mine last week and am breaking them in now so I wont get sore feet later.

Traci, I hope Tim's surgery went well yesterday and he is recovering fast today without too much pain.:flower3:
Back later to see whose around today,
Kathy

Happy Thursday everyone!

I said that I wasn't really going to do any shopping for myself for this cruise, but as I was putting some of our summer things away yesterday I realized that I need some new swimsuits. I can't cruise without a couple of decent swimsuits. At least I know what I want and I can just order them online.

So, we have less than a month now. We'll be in WDW 4 weeks from today, lets see, what do I need to get done...
Finish FE gifts, Scrapbook page swap, Pack, Order swimsuits, Decide what to do in port, Prepare for stamping classes on the 20th and 27th, Finish NICU blankets that I'm taking to the hospital for DD's birthday.......hmmm, looks like it is going to be a busy 4 weeks.

We're going to sail on the Wonder on Feb 7th, 2010. I was on that cruise meet thread yesterday and guess how long it is--5 pages. I love this thread. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hello Everbody

Mid day check in.

Headaches, Kathy? Are you running your furnace? Have you checked for carbon monoxide?

I couldn't get the list from yesterday open with any program.

Stamping classes, Shauna? Wish I lived near you - I am SUCH a dunce with stamps - manage to wear more than I get on the paper, they're never even or straight and I give up in frustration.

People on the 3 -4 day cruises don't get into the meets etc the way they do on longer ones, maybe because there are more 'first timers' there.

See y'all later!

Linda,
I had a couple of people who couldnt open it so I changed to a different version and everyone should be able to open it. I will send you another one right away.

we have a working carbon monoxide detector so no problem with that. The furnace is only on a few minutes early. I also had a stomach ache so I think its some kinda virus.

Ok I am out of here to send you the updated list.

The sun is shinning beautifully this afternoon:goodvibes YEAH!!!

Kathy

I surely don't wish any of us to be sick with the flus, colds, bugs, etc, but if we must, let's get it all out NOW! Here in Central Florida the Swine Flu is spreading like wildfire - even had a death of a teen in the area. Awful.

My girls' appointments to get their Flu Shots were canceled by the Pediatrician because they've run out. The nurse told me not to worry too much because all the flu cases they're seeing are the Swine Flu, not the annual one. Great - no vaccine for that yet either. Now I feel soooooo much better (NOT).

Hoping to celebrate the Phillies too. Unfortunately the World Series is so close to the cruise and we won't be able to go to see the Phillies to do a repeat of last year. My daughter, nephew, and sister got to go to the World Series last year. But the Eagles Jersey are packed for when we stomp the Cowboys!!!!!!

Being a fan of the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers and not liking either the Eagles or the Patriots, this could be a difficult cruise. But at least we can share in our combined hatred for the Cowboys.

And you're not a die-hard baseball fan unless you cheer for the undisputed worst team in baseball... for 17 consecutive losing seasons.

And you're not a die-hard baseball fan unless you cheer for the undisputed worst team in baseball... for 17 consecutive losing seasons.

So, which team is the worst? DH's beloved Pirates are pretty bad, would you be talking about them?

Hi again,
It's been a crazy week. DH sprained his ankle last night, and we had to go to the er, good thing he wasn't bleeding or something more serious, there was nobody there, and it still took 3 hours for them to tell us that. ugh. lol. Anyways, I'm so ready for this cruise to be here, one month, and counting.

Now all I have to do is pack, and repack, and get all the FE things into a bag, and then check, and recheck, and not go crazy waiting for November.

Not to be nosy... but I read something about a scrap meet/swap/ somthing like that. Just curious as to what it is.

Happy Thursday! :wizard:

You're not being nosy at all. Some of us are doing a scrapbook page/kit swap (some will make a 12x12 page, others are making a kit for the page so that you can arrange the elements yourself and customize it to the size/quantity of your photos). I think Laurie from London is the one in charge of it. So far there are 7 of us, but we're planning for 10 so I'm sure you're welcome to join. Someone else may be able to give you more info as well.

Hope DH recovers in time for the cruise!:)

Yes, that would be them. On my last cruise, my "Pirate Night" outfit was a Pittsburgh baseball cap and Pirates batting practice shirt. pirate:

Yup! IT's what Shauna Said. I'll quote Lauri's post #1339

Back to the scrapbooking swap, how about we just say that we can either do a page, or a bag, or some cross between the two. (for example someone might put some double mats together, make a border or title, put some appropriate quotes on to mats, some decorative tags, stickers etc. and put it into a bag without a page behind it, but there would still be some creativity there - this is what I was kind of thinking about) Then for those who want to put together a page, great, and those would find it easier to travel with pieces, that is fine too. Did anyone want to set a price range?

For a theme, I was thinking I would like to do Fun at the Beach. So that means we have
Traci - Pirate
Linda - Souvenirs from the Ship
Laurie - Fun at the Beach
Silly Little Pixie (Christine) - Sail Away Party
Stampin Shauna -
Minnie Mouse -
Dale & Bob - Fish Extenders

We never did set a price range - kinda irrelevant, I guess.

We decided to make 10 pages/or page kits each - just in case there was some late joiners, so yes, Melody, you will be welcome! I'll hunt up the more explicit instructions in a minute.

Yes, that would be them. On my last cruise, my "Pirate Night" outfit was a Pittsburgh baseball cap and Pirates batting practice shirt. pirate:

I just told DH about you. He said "so there is really someone else who is a Pirates fan on this cruise--that's great!" He has, on several occasions, threatened to wear his Pittsburgh Pirates apparel on Pirate night, and now he just might. Now he would have to pick from his many Pirate shirts/hats. Why a Pirates fan in Salt Lake City, because his dad was a fan and he grew up loving the Pirates.

Pretty good that I could guess who the worst team in baseball is--I'm really not much of a fan.

I love to give him a hard time by cheering for the Phillies. We even bet with our friends from Philly (who will be on this cruise too) about a Pirates/Phillies game this summer. The Phillies won, so DH has to buy the "Kitchen Sink" at Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club resort after the cruise. (In case anyone doesn't know what the kitchen sink is, it is a $20+ ice cream dessert with some of everything.

Ok I have added Jon and Melody to the FE list and cruise mates list.
If you dont have the revised lists by tomorrow afternoon please let me know.

I had a few come back saying the file was too big, so I am assuming a few mail boxes were too full. I will try those people again tomorrow.

Good night everyone,

Kathy

Good Morning, St. Croix Cruisers! Day shift, checking in.

I went to the pool and gym yesterday afternoon, so I'll skip it today. got to pack to drive to Massachusetts this afternoon.

More Explicit Scrapbook page swap hints from post 15XX I forget which number

And if we plan to put the stuff for the page in a bag so that it doesn't get ruined, how is everyone to know where to put the stuff on the page? I know I am confused. Sometimes I think I need things written in crayon so that I understand. I am really sorry for all of the questions about this, and I have an idea for the page, just not sure how it is going to work. Please someone, write it in crayon for me.
Vickie

Ok, I'm going to be really detailed here on how I'm going to do it. You DO NOT have to do the same. (I scrap more like an engineer than an artist, so simple is key. these are not pages for a magazine, lol)

I had an idea for how to have a page for miscellaneous "scraps" that one always manages to collect on a cruise - room keys, diningroom tickets, excursion tickets, cards that come with flowers and on board gifts, return addresses from cards you might get from fellow cruisers, notices of shows, stickers etc.

Because this page requires a bit of complicated assembly, and the major component is the same size as a 12 x 12 page, I AM going to assemble that part of it to a page. Then I have cut the title letters, and the other parts.
I will totally assemble MINE, complete with title and components and photograph it.

I can print 10 small copies of mine on a sheet of paper and cut them up. So, my "page kit" will consist of an example layout (the photo of my finished page), the assembled background, and the component parts - title, pocket, brads whatever is required. I will pack each page kit in either a big ziplock bag or one of those "papertaker" thingy's or a celephane envelope that paper sometimes comes in. (recycling is good)

IF your page ingredients are not 12 x12 like mine, you can just put the ingredients in whatever size bags they will fit in. If you want to include a sketch of your idea - or a picture of your own page completed, you can. If you don't that's ok too. No two people's pages ever looke exactly the same anyway. Oh, and please put a label in or on your bag so we know who made what. I will say in my book that so and so created the components for this page.

Good enuF?

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Hi everyone,

Tim had his surgery yesterday and did well. We are still waiting for the pathology reports to get back. But hopefully we are in the clear. He is doing well and will go home from the hospital today. Thank you everyone for being such a great dis family:grouphug:. I really needed and appreciated the support.
