No allergies here either, unless you are planning to give us a cat. :lmao::rotfl2: DH is allergic to them, I on the other hand like them.;)
Favorite memories: (notice it is plural)
My DGD was about 3 when we saw Snow White and the Dwarfs and she wanted to see them. When it was her turn she was so impressed by Snow Whites dress that she asked if she could touch it. Of course SW said yes. I swear Sara's hand was shaking and she had tears in her eyes as she was reaching out to touch that dress.
My grandson was also about two when we were at MGM watching the motorcars parade, Ian loved Peter Pan and he was sitting in his stroller watching as PP came by, Ian reached out his hand and PP walked over and shook his hand and spoke to him. Ian's face was priceless.
Another time, Sara maybe 5 at the time insisted on going on the dinosaur ride at AK, I kept telling her that it would scare the bejeebers out of her, but she kept throwing a fit that she wasn't scared and the dinosaurs were just Mickey Mouse dinosaurs. Her mom finally decided to let her ride it, against my better judgement, Well the first big dinosaur did Sara in. She was getting out of that car no matter what. My daughter and I lterally put Sara's face in our laps and leaned over her to both, keep her in the car, and to keep her from seeing any more of the ride. After we got off, she and I were walking away from the ride and she stated rather loudly "The next time I ride that ride, it will be with my husband" One of the CM's happened to hear her, and was cracking up.
Those are a couple of my favorites.
Gotta run, water areobics tonight.
Later,
V

3. WDW 2003- Kyle was a huge Peter Pan freak at that point, aged 3. He loved everything to do with Peter. We had all manner of Peter Pan toys and pirate ships in the house, and rode the ride every single time at Disneyland, no matter how long the wait. But, in all our Disneyland trips we had never seen Peter Pan out and about, just in Fantasmic. Well, we walked out of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and there was Peter Pan... crouched down, hiding in a bush! He whistled to Kyle to come over. He asked him if he had seen Hook (he had, just 50 yards away), and then invited him to play. They got out little sticks out of the bushes and played sword fighting with each other. There was no one else around. Peter must have spent 5-10 minutes playing with my son, right down on his level. No CMs around, nothing. I stood there with tears in my eyes because this was my son's dream come true. :wizard:

Please pass the tissues! Those were great stories, Christine, but that last one got me.

Hi Everyone! I'm signing off for a week--heading to Washington DC and won't be online much. If anyone has any wristband updates, please pm. When I get back I'll finalize the wristband info and get it ordered around the end of the month. Happy chatting.

How old is your grandson? I wonder if it was the "same" Peter Pan. Gotta love that special Disney magic! My son barely remembers this "special memory" but it's one I'll never forget. Sounds like for you, too. What a wonderful place!

Ian is 10. I doubt that he remembers this either. But he was sure happy at the time. I agree, it is the little things like this that make it so magical and that is the reason we keep going back.

Good Morning everybody!

I had some REALLY good news yesterday! After our second cruise - I booked to stay at WL using DVC points, but there was no room available for Thanksgiving eve, so I waitlisted. Yesterday the letter came - I GOT IT! I am so HAPPY! We'll head for home on Thanksgiving day, stopping for dinner with my cousin in Jax.

QUESTION of the DAY (hope it hasn't been asked) What is your favorite resort at the World, and why?

HI All:

We are booked (and paid in full!!) for the Nov 7 Magic Cruise. Our group includes myself (Donna, Age 50 something), my Mom (Bonnie, Age 70 something), and my two nieces Hannah (Age 8), and Samantha (Age 5).

This is the 7th cruise for my Mom and I (our last cruise was the WB Panama), and the 2nd cruise for the girls (4 day Wonder in 2007). We booked this cruise while on the Wonder in 2007 and kept pushing it ahead. Now we are finally going!!

We are booked in a Cat 6, Deck 6. We plan to do beach excursions on both St. Croix and St. Thomas, but that may change.

I am very interested in joining the Fish Extender group. I have seen them on other cruises, but have never participated. Is it too late to join? Can somebody send me a primer on FEs? How do I sign up? I think the girls would love it.

THANKS

Donna

Shauna is taking orders for the wrist bands and Kathy is making a cruise mates list.

I'm tired guys so bye for now.

And Linda congrats on the WL for thanksgiving!!!

My fav resort is the Poly. Even though we have not stayed there. I love Ohana. It being on the monorail and close to MK to see the fireworks. And just love the tropical feel. We hope to stay there on our next visit to WDW.

2nd fav is CBR. We really love this place. But hate that it takes so long to get around.

Howdy all,
favorite resort has to be The Wilderness Lodge.
I love all the wood look and the creek in the lobby is awesome as it runs down the hill and into the pool. The geyser out back it fun to watch too.

Not a lot going on today. I have hit a stumbling block with my FE gifts so have to see if I can find something. If i cant then I have to think of something different. I may see if my son will be around to day to watch the dogs so I can go to the craft store and look for what i need.

Time is flying by so I need to get busy with this stuff and i need to make my door signs and shirts too.:cool1:

Back later today, have lots to do right now,

kathy

Thanks for the warm welcome! I sent PMs for both the Fish Extender group and the Cruise mates list. Please post if you didn't receive them.

I've been doing a bit of reading on this thread and it seems like a lively bunch. Glinda's back to back trip sounds wonderful! And being from Cadillac is like being neighbors. And, I am also a DVC member (OKW) so we have even more in common. Do you fly in and out of GRR?

I will do my best to check this thread each day to try to get to know you'all prior to the trip, but my DIS time is pretty limited.

My favorite DVC resort is Old Key West. I love the old Florida feel and the space in the units. My favorite overall resort is either Beach Club or the Contemporary.

We typically add 3-4 days at WDW prior to after a cruise. This time, however, with both girls in school we are just taking the week. To make up for our "lost" time, my Mom and I booked a 4 night stay at WDW during the first week of October to spend time at the Food and Wine Festival and catch MNNSHP. The girls don't know we are going and we don't plan on telling them unless we have too!

On our last cruise, both girls wanted to wear princess dresses to the Pirate Party which was fine with me. This year, though, they want to dress like pirates. I picked up some pirate polo shirts last weekend at Target on clearance along with some bright pink leggings. My Mom and I are going to wear plain black polos with white capris. Does anybody have any ideas to make us look more "piratety?"

One more question. The 5 year old is going to need "swimmies" to feel safe in the Goofy pool. I checked at several local stores last weekend and of course, they are all sold out. Does anyone know if you can buy these on board the ship?

I am certain I will have a lot more questions as the time draws nearer. I am glad I found this thread!

Donna - we are OKW too, since '93 actually. I sure do miss the free park passes - but, I discoverd DCL and use our points there sometimes. Yes, we are flying out of GRR on Friday morning - 8:00ish on Northwest. We are staying at SSR Friday (we own there as well), renting a car and heading to the port on Saturday.

I can't answer your question regarding swimmies, sorry.

Hello all!

Welcome July Lady! (What are swimmies? I might have some - been buying stuff on sales for the two little girls who will be with us on this cruise and I have some duplicate stuff.)

Kathy, PM me what you need if you can't find it easily, and I will pop you off a care package, with pleasure!

I LOVE staying at OKW and have 8 nights there planned for January. It's a little more difficult for me with the ecv than the ones with the indoor corridors, but worth the small hassle for the serenity.

My absolute favorite is AKL for the music, the color, the drums, the cast members, the evening cultural events and the food(we have points). My husband's is VWL because it reminds him of camping in the Adirondacks (we have points there too).

Oh, JulyLady, if you're a scrapbooker, there might be a page "ingredients" swap - details are on . . . uh, page 87 that's it, Page 87!

Well guys I havent been feeling to good the last two days and ggot up today and man I felt like I had been run over. So went to the doctor and guess what!!!!! I have the flu:sick::sick:. I just couldnt believe it. But I do get all kinds of stuff working with patients at the hospital. So I will be out of commision for a bit. Dont forget about me. I will update the FE list as soon as I am feeling up to it. Judylady I did get your info and will update soon.

Bye for now.:headache:

Donna, how about a sash around your waist for a pirate look.
An eye patch is always good and a pirate hat or bandana around the head. For Halloween they will have all these things in the local stores.
Also some clunky necklaces like you usually see at the thrift store that nobody wants.:lmao: I have a plastic belt with a plastic skull face glued to it. It looks like leather but its plastic.
Maybe a small stuffed parrot on your shoulder?

Last year they sold Mikcey ears with a pirate bandana on them and a gold hoop earring on it. I wear that.
Do you have any boots or flat sandals. Either of those are nice.

Swimmies? Do you mean the plastic blow up rings for the arms and waist? If so try a dollar store. They often have things that are out of season. Do you have a pinch a penny pool store? Sometimes pool stores will carry a few things all year around like that. If you mean the entire suit thats the non sink kind I would go to a sporting goods store. They often have those kinds of suits too.

I see I have a PM so thats probably yours. I will add you to the list and shoot you out a list soon.

Linda, I did find something today that I think will work for my project. If it doesnt I will ask you about it. Thanks.:goodvibes

Sending lots of pixie dust your way.

Wow! I can't believe how nice and helpful you all are!!:lovestruc

Kathy - Thanks for the Dollar Store idea for the swimmies (blow up float aids). I will stop at one this weekend. I also like the sash idea for Pirate Night. I wonder if I can find some inexpensive pink scarves somewhere?

Lindababe - Sorry, I am not a scrapbooker, but wish I was!! I don't have a creative bone in my body. In fact, I am probably going to have to purchase a Fish Extender off Ebay, cause I don't think I can make one.

Gail - Too funny. I think we are probably on the same flight!! We are also leaving from GRR on Friday morning. I think the exact time is 7am and then we have a very long layover in Detroit. We are staying overnight at the Hyatt (airport) and then taking the Disney cruise bus over in the morning. We took the bus in 2007 and the girls just loved it!! I don't think we get into Orlando until after 3pm. We are planning on swimming at the hotel pool followed by an early dinner and bedtime.

I also found the magnet and door sign thread today and made a request there. I think the girls will really like them.

As I indicated on my original thread, my Mom and I are cruise pros, but we have only taken the girls on a 4-day Wonder cruise previously. Any ideas on how to make the cruise extra magical would be great!!:goodvibes

Donna - I will happily look for some swimmies up here and let you know. I just looked at our flight - we really leave at 8:10 to Detroit (and lovely terminal B or C and then out again at 10:15 to MCO. I booked our tickets originally to fly out of Traverse City but they changed and changed and changed the itinerary but once it got to a 4 hour layover in Detroit on the way home (I could have driven before we waited, flew and drove down from TC) I called and changed to Grand Rapids. Then, I have changed it once since then because our layover in Detroit wasn't long enough (never happy, am I??) to get from Terminal B/C to A. I totally understand the problems with merging two airlines but I am beginning to feel bad for ME with all the changes. I hope we can stay at my middle son's (they live in Greenville) Thursday night and then he can take us in the morning.

Well, another day closer everyone. Drew has 2 soccer games this weekend at Alma so we are heading down there to watch those - I am looking forward to it. Our leaves are turning already too. How did it get to be September 15th already??? But, I guess that just brings us closer to our cruise. Take care everyone and have a nice evening.

Just checked my stash - no swimmies. :( I have an extra swim "ring" and and some extra water goggles, which won't be much use. I'm sorry.

Gail, I have only one thing to say about your airline situation - THANK HEAVENS FOR SOUTHWEST!
