November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

Good morning everyone. Anyone have the question of the day?

I am at home trying to get things together. I didnt know I had so much junk in this house. I hate packing. Well we went to the station to visit Tim last night. Everyone was very sweet and excited that we brought dessert. They had several calls and fires yesterday. And Nathan had such a great time messing around on the firetruck.

Anyway just checking in the time is surely counting down I am getting so excited. Have a great day.

Okay, question of the day.....

What is your favorite ride at WDW?

Mine is Splash Mountain.

Favorite ride - Soarin' That just blew me away when we were there a year ago. We spent more days at Epcot than any other and I rode several times a day, just couldn't get enough of it. Splash Mountain would be my second.

Favorite ride..
Wow, I gotta pick just one??? I love Splash Mountain and Rockin Rollercoaster, Spaceship Earth, and Dumbo and Expedition Everest, Haunted Mansion, It's A Small World..there are just to many that I really like, depending on my mood. :confused3
How bout I name the ones I won't ride, Mission Space, Tower of Terror and Space Mountain, nope don't ride those.
Trying to get things ready for a cookout tomorrow. Just got my baked beans in the oven, and have the water on for Macaroni salad.
Just watched the Wonder go by on Two Palms web cam, Just think, our friends and family will be watching us go by soon.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Vickie

Hi Everyone

I've been offline for a couple of days, we are at the cottage enjoying what could be our last beach weekend... until November anyway!!:cool1:
Actually it will probably still be nice for a few weeks, but we are super busy in September so I doubt we will get up here. :sad2: I am involved in a big mom to mom type sale with our local multiple births club (twins, triplets etc) so I have to get my stuff ready to sell and then we all work at the sale. Also I am taking DD to High School Musical live in a couple of weeks at our city fall fair and I am organizing managers' meeting at work for all of our store managers, bringing them in from across the country, coordinating the logistics etc, so that is tons of work and of course school is (finally) starting on Tuesday. Yup, a busy month for sure, but it will only make the cruise come sooner!

I think I only missed the question about my fave ride at WDW. I have to say it's a tie between Soarin and Buzz Lightyear. They are so different, I can't possibly pick one over the other. My kids love all of the ones that go around and around and up and down like Dumbo... they are pretty cool too, good for anyone

I have some questions for the veteran cruisers in our little group, will you indulge me?

1. Is there a charge for coffee from room service? :coffee:

2. What do you usually bring off the ship with your in CC? What would you bring to CC if you were travelling with two 6 yr olds? (I am debating about sand toys etc) I assume there are towels on board that we can take to shore excusions? :beach:

3. Our flight arrives in Orlando at 11:30am, we have a private shuttle booked, which should be there waiting for us. What time do you think we will be at the ship? Part 2 of this question is, how long does it typically take to get onto the ship once we arrive there?

4. Given that we will have our luggage with us on our shuttle bus, will we bring it to our rooms with us, or will we have to check it in and see it a few hours later?

5. Just in case we need to or just decide to stop between the airport and the ship for any supplies (there is a baby and four kids in our group, you just never know), does anyone have a suggestion of a place to go for said supplies? I'm sure we can find a grocery store, but I know you guys probably know of some hidden gem

6. What's the best souvenir you've bought on a DCL cruise? :wizard:

Thanks everyone! :banana::banana::banana:

I rarely post here (I'm not sure how to jump in), but the questions are a great place to start...

Fav Character: Minnie
Fav Animated Movie: Little Mermaid
Fav Non-Animated: Summer Magic (another Hayley Mills oldie)
Fav Ride: At DL it is Indiana Jones, but at WDW it would have to be Tower of Terror

Happy Labor Day!

Well we are glad to have you!

I just noticed the date on my computer! We are exactly 2 months away! I need to get busy...FE gifts, door signs, etc!

Quick question about FE gifts (maybe this was covered long ago)...do we put who they are from or are they more like a "secret Santa" sort of thing?

6. What's the best souvenir you've bought on a DCL cruise? :wizard:

Thanks everyone! :banana::banana::banana:

1. Coffee - no charge from room service.

2. Take off the ship at CC - we generally bring pop and beer with us and a collapsible cooler so that goes and other than book, sunscreen, camera and towels from the ship, nothing goes with us.

3. Time to arrive at the ship - if you land at 11:30, I don't imagine you will be really leaving the airport until about 12:30 - by the time you get your luggage and all. I think it is about an hour (45 minutes maybe) to get to the port and if you have a grocery stop (they are generally a timed stop, like 20 minutes maybe) it will be close to 2:00 I bet before you arrive at the ship. We always arrive a day early and generally travel to the port from WDW or a hotel close to MCO. I may have padded a bit but not too much I would bet.

4. You will give your luggage (keep your carryons with you with anything you may need) to the porters when you arrive at the port and it will appear in your cabins later in the day. This can be before or after dinner (if you have early dinner) so you may want to pack accordingly.

5. No hidden gems as far as the grocery stop goes. Just be sure that you have fast access to pack up whatever you purchase so you are ready to hand over your luggage to the porters.

6. Best purchase - we added on to our DVC once, does that count?? Or booked another cruise - probably not what you are looking for. I have a glass ornament of the ship (Christopher Radko) that I adore. And many, many WONDERful and MAGICal memories that have been made, not really purchased but something we take home none the less.

Did that help?

:welcome: sarajane and family! Glad to have you aboard. This is a super friendly and very helpful group here so feel free to ask any questions you may have. And, as a fellow buckeye that has been transplanted to Michigan (sorta painful but we have survived) we are are super happy to have you with us.

Welcome Sarajane! Have you heard or read about the Fish Extenders or the Wristbands? Wristband info is on page 62 of this thread, and I'm not sure what page the Fish Extender info is on--goofytraci is coordinating that so she could fill you in.

Okay, time for another question of the day....

What is your favorite thing/place at the World Showcase in EPCOT?
Mine is the American Adventure. I especially love to hear the Voices of Liberty there. Second would be the Chinese Acrobats at the China pavillion.

Hi ASR!

We are very glad to hear from you!:banana:

Anyone else out there wondering how to jump in, just go ahead and introduce yourself! We'd love to hear from you and have you in our little cirlce of fun! :grouphug:

I was actually really glad to hear from you, my DD continually asks about the other little girls in our group, she is 6 and will be almost 7 when we sail, so she was very excited to see that you have a DD age 7 on the cruise mates list.
