November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

Traci,
maybe they are lurking?
Hopefully they will post soon.:goodvibes
I have cruised several times in November and after kids are all back and school people tend to post more. Not all kids are in school yet. Another week and I think they will all be back. Hopefully more will have time to post soon.

Many cruises I have had people come up to me and introduce themselves. They lurked for months but never posted. They were shy I guess. Very nice people. I told them next time post!! I growl a lot and nag but I dont bite:lmao: Usually I dont bite:rolleyes1 Anyway they recognised me from photos we had posted on the thread and it was great fun to meet them.
I wish they had posted too.:thumbsup2

Well back to the laundry, I still have folding to do. I got side tracked when I noticed the frig was iced up and needed to be defrosted so I did that which is NOT my favorite job.

Kathy

Speaking of photos Kathy do you have any pics of your family dressed up for pirate night?

If anyone else on the thread has some i would love to see them. I keep looking online and with halloween coming up I know there will be some avail. But not sure how dressed up people get. And sorry to say but some of the women pirate costumes are kinda not family like to me.

Fill me in and pls show me your photo's!!!:worship::worship:

Traci I do have a couple of photos I will find this afternoon to share.
My outfit is just something i threw together by looking for close out items accept the necklace which is the gold coin that the Pirates were looking for.

I saw some of those costumes on line too, way too little costume and too much me for those:lmao::lmao:
On the 7 day many do dress up, some just wear pirate t-shirts and eye patches and bandanas we are given at dinner. But those who don't dress up often didnt know they could. They book the cruise and go without knowing anything about pirate night.

The more who dress up especially at dinner the more fun it is. I have had many people stop me and ask how I knew to bring a pirate outfit and then tell me next time they are bringing one too.

I am off to look for the photos,

kathy

Traci,

here I am with Captain Jack. off to find my DD and Gd's photos.

Traci,

here is my DD and me and my GD in their outfits.

I know pirates dont have purple hair, but my DD did:lmao: DD did buy their costumes on line.

I cant find the photo but GS had the big 3 corner pirate hat, eye patch and plastic sword and pirate t-shirt on.

Costumes dont have to be expensive or fancy to look good.
Many of my friends just went ot the thrift store and found old capris or shorts that looked worn and cut ragged ends to the legs. Same thing with a shirt, just make the end of the sleeves ragged. My blouse is a perfect example.
Then go to the fabric store and buy a piece of close out material that is long and wrap it around your waist like Captain Jack did.

I also tore up parts of the skirt to its uneven and tattered looking.

Then Bingo you have a costume. sandals or boots both work for the feet.
Many times thrift stores have cheap bulky jewelry. Large rings or necklaces work great for about a dollar each.

Just use your imagination and you cant go wrong making your own outfit.
Sales at Halloween for hats, eye patches and such work great.

Traci,
this is a little dark but here is one of my GS. He had a pirate shirt, pirate map, sword and the triangle hat. His dad did the same accept the sword;) He had an eye patch but took it off for dinner.

Thanks again.:worship:

I think there must be lots of lurkers... come on and join us, we are not so scary! We want to have a nice big group!

We actually have pirate costumes for the family from a couple of halloween's ago. I wonder if I could get DH and kiddos to wear theirs... hmmm... I better bring them just in case. It is hard to find women's pirate costumes that aren't too questionable, but they are out there if you dig. Mine is really short but I just wear running tights with it and then it doesn't look so... well, you know. With our cruise being right after halloween, you might be able to get pirate gear on sale the week before we go.

Oh, this door sign project will be a hoot! I can't wait. And maybe I will do some magnets too. Why not?

It's cleanup night around here, so I am off to work. Have a great night all.

Kathy -
Are they still giving out bandanas? On our May Wonder cruise, they weren't doing that anymore.:sad2: I didn't bring any because I assumed we'd get more. We were kinda bummed about that... a minor thing, but it was part of the magic.

I am not 100% sure. Last time i heard they were, but who knows they may have stopped? Maybe I can find a rescent trip report and ask them if they were given a bandana so we will know.
I have several of them from previous cruises and I put mine on stuffed Disney characters and made them have a pirate party at my dining room table and King Louie is hanging from the chandelier with the pirate map menu under his arm. So I hope they are still giving them out. I love using them on my stuffed animals.
The pirate menu too. Thar was so cool.

I am also curious if the returning cruiser gift is still a tote bag and what design it is ths time.
I'll let you know if I find out for sure,

Kathy

The CC gift is still the black/red nylon zippered tote bag with goodies inside - 2 cups w/straws, mesh bag, insulated sipper cup, notepad and stencils, etc.

It does seem like it's been quite awhile since they've changed the gift. I love the bag, but this will be our 4th one. Perhaps I shouldn't cruise so often????? NAH!

I love the beach towels they gave out in '04/'05. Remember those?

Yes i have 5 or 6 of those towels. We used them for pool towels at our Florida home.
I have 3 of the black bags and too many to count of both designs of the white ones. I started giving them away a long time ago. Just had too many.
I was hoping for something different.
Guess they dont plan on people cruising to often.
I have a lot of the pins and lanyards they gave out at check in for awhile too.

Here we are in our pirate gear. The kids and I got ours at a halloween store. DH just has a cream colored shirt and a pirate hat I got him at the disney outlet store. The parrot was so cute, but he wouldn't stay on DH's shoulder. So we just carried him around!

Christine

Good Morning, everybody!

Very Cute, Christine! LOVE the Parrot! OC (the teddy bear) has a parrot with his pirate outfit too, but it has an elastic band on it, so it's usually hanging upside down from his wrist, lol.

Kathy, those old pins are highly sought after - because every year the pin is slightly different.

Absolutely NOTHING to say, at this hour, except HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Christine I love your pic. Your family looks great!:thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a great day. I am off to work with the crazzies!!!! I have to laugh or I will cry!

Love the pic, Christine!

Hey, we still have a few of those old Castaway pins! DD has used one or two for pin trading. Too bad they stopped giving those away.... just like the disappearing pirate bandanas.
