Who is making door signs besides Donna and me?

Kathy

I'm definitely making door signs. Since Donna got me addicted to the DISboards I have downloaded tons of graphics and even asked some of the DISigners to make some custom ones for me. I can't wait to put all the stuff on my door! :woohoo:

Kathy,

Your FE is awesome. I have ordered one from a fello diser. And I am so excited to get it.

We are also thinking of the cheapest way to have several disigns on our door. As I have mentioned above we have lots. I have been posting all day. Kinda like I didnt work today or something:rolleyes1.

Traci,
I've found that if you print out the designs on heavy cardstock paper and then use the magnetic tape in small strips on either end it works great. You can also do cut-outs with the cardstock so it's not just a bunch of sheet sized pages on your door.

Ladies, as ever, I am in awe.

I like the idea of these door signs, I will have to make them for our other two cabins of family members (who refuse to come on DIS with us!). They have to get in on the fun somehow! I am thinking I could print them on regular cardstock, then laminate the cardstock and use magnetic tape to stick them up... will this work?

We went on at midnight on Sunday/Monday to make our palo res, we got 7pm on Wednesday, I think that should be a good day/time. No brunch but we were not that excited about the brunch anyway, so it's all good. We reserved for DSIL & DBIL too, we are too nice. Our bookings are linked so we were able to do this for them. I'll tell them later... LOL.

the kids are out of town at grandpa's house this week, so we are running around doing things that are harder to do with them in tow. I miss them terribly though.

Our FE is all put together, except for the decorations. I am going to put a character for each of us on the pockets, but I have to print the character pics and put them on. I bought printable fabric... should be interesting.

I love being able to come on here at night, it's like a little mini vacation before our vacation!

Thanks Kathy for the great list of tips. I got some little hand sanitizers from Avon recently, they are a nice small purse size, so those will be good to bring.

Somebody mentioned about US citizens not having to go through customs on our island stops... any info about what non-US citizens will need to do? Should be no big deal if we are still in the US, we will have gone through customs at "the bridge" when we drive over to the airport in Detroit. Anyone have any insights for us Canadians?

Thanks for everything everyone!

Hey Kathy--I love your signs! Where did you get the graphics for them?

These are sized for a standard size sheet of paper.

Then I have a bunch of smaller ones I have saved in a file that are 4x6 inches. They came with a kids disney disposable camera.

If you google free disney icons you can get a lot too.

Plus as metioned above there is a dis thread that has alot of things too.
Then I used a paint program to write on the pictures.

Laurie -

Our group has Palo ressies for the same night! We had to break it up into 3 ressies for the 8 of us to be able to do it online but will merge them all when onboard. We're currently in for 8:30pm though hoping to move it up just a bit.

And yes, laminating the card stock works great. The office stores (Staples, office Max, etc) do it for $1 a sheet.

Wow, a lot has happened since I posted last. Congrats Traci on the engagement and the new puppy, she is a cutie. Shauna, thank you for doing the bracelets. Linda, the map for the FE exchange is a great idea. Last time we did this, I was lost most of the time, so a map is a great idea. Kathy, the cruisemate list is great!! Thank you so much.
I really need to get myself together for this cruise, it just seems like I just get both ends to meet, and somebody pulls the middle. :confused3 Dan has been having to fix his car more than he drives it lately, and of course it didn't qualify for the cash for clunkers program, even though it was 10 years old and absolutely a clunker, it got to many mile to the gallon. When it left me stranded at work one day (he had taken mine to get the oil changed) that was the end of it. We got it running and traded it in that night, So now we have a car payment. Add that to the fact that my house is still not finished.... How much longer till we leave?? I so need a vacation. I started the FE gifts for the kids on the cruise, I think they are turning out really cute. I hope they enjoy them. I have an idea for the adults, but need to figure out how to shrink one of the pictures. My son is coming up next weekend so hopefully he will be able to help me. He and his wife will be celebrating their anniversary and they want to go out of town so I agreed to keep my grandson for four days. I want to get some door signs made and maybe a t-shirt or two before we leave.. and still need airfare and a rental car..Yikes, I better get busy.
Take care everyone!!

14. On Castaway cay if you want your photo taken with Captain Jack Sparrow, do NOT ride the tram to the beach area. It does NOT stop near him. You must walk in to the beach signs say 10 minute walk in it takes us 8 minutes. He will be along the way in the sand and photo has the flying Dutchman behind you, great photo! Check navigator for times he will be there.

I'm sure others here can add more good tips to these. Lets hear from the rest of you. What tips can you share with us for a better, more enjoyable cruise??

Kathy

Captain Jack- READ the navigator and be there before his time ends!! We were the last family in line (I had read the times- and was hustlin' my butt down there, family lagging behind) for him at CC. SO many people came up to the CM who was behind us and chewed him out! Oh my, the abuse he took for not allowing people into the line. No matter that they could still find him later on the beach or at Pirate Night. But man, they cut off that line at exactly the time stated in the Navigator. Not a minute later.

Our picture with Captain Jack in front of the Flying Dutchman turned out so great, it was our Christmas card this year!

And here is the link to look at how others have decorated their door. One of our shipmates even has a pic posted of her door.

Good Morning, everybody!

Christine, I like your door signs too, especially the beach chairs! You must be so excited, doing a vow renewal. Did you order your dress yet?

Lovely day here, I need to get up and get busy!
Happy day!

Wow...Lots of fun chatting going on here. You think we are excited about the cruise or something.

I started printing out some magnets on the magnet sheets last night and let me tell you I was so excited I was ready to pack last night. They look so awesome. Tim had to redo a couple as some of the colors were funky and we need to size it correctly so nothing was cut off. So really trial and error.

Yay 1000 post. I am so excited and yet I didnt notice it.

I hope everyone has a great day. I just thought it was weird we havent had any new comers:confused3. Is this normal or will we gets more at the very end?

Happy wednesday everyone, the week is flying by now.

Christine, great signs.
One great thing about delivering FE gifts is getting to see everyones door signs. They are always so fun to see.

Vickie see what happens when your gone so long. You need to drop by more often:goodvibes

Traci,
This is unusual being this close ot a cruise and not getting new people joining a thread. I am sure it is due ot the economy being so bad they are not filling the ships. So with less people cruising we are just not getting as many people on the boards.
I have seen many people cancelling cruises too because they lost their jobs .

I am always looking at peoples signatures when I read posts trying to see if they are on our cruise. This is the first year I havnt found people to invite over to a meets thread.

Well I need to finish my :laundy: before we get into the 90's today.

Back later,
Kathy

Shauna,
your right the photos were gone. I just went there last week and they were there? They changed to the following, but it is now mostly icons of characters instead of nice pictures for signs. I will try and find out what they did with them. They must be somewhere. I'll let you know if i find them. It was 12 pages of great pictures to use.

I am so far behind in planning. Work has been so busy that there just isn't enough time. It looks like my FIL and MIL may be able to join us after all. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in July and started chemo. I canceled their trip without telling them since the deadline for final payment was near and we had no idea if he could travel in November. So far he is doing great and is getting restaged next week. If all looks good I will go ahead and rebook them. They'll never be any the wiser. I figure worse case is that it costs me more money for them to cruise since there is still a fair bit of availability on the ship.

I loved making magnets for the door on our last trip and will definitely get working on those soon.

I have invited two or three people to our thread that hadnt posted here but I havent seen them yet!

Traci,
maybe they are lurking?
Hopefully they will post soon.:goodvibes
I have cruised several times in November and after kids are all back and school people tend to post more. Not all kids are in school yet. Another week and I think they will all be back. Hopefully more will have time to post soon.

Many cruises I have had people come up to me and introduce themselves. They lurked for months but never posted. They were shy I guess. Very nice people. I told them next time post!! I growl a lot and nag but I dont bite:lmao: Usually I dont bite:rolleyes1 Anyway they recognised me from photos we had posted on the thread and it was great fun to meet them.
I wish they had posted too.:thumbsup2

Well back to the laundry, I still have folding to do. I got side tracked when I noticed the frig was iced up and needed to be defrosted so I did that which is NOT my favorite job.

Hi Scott, nice to hear from you again.
I sure hope your FIL and MIL can come. Disney is a great place to recoup after a serious illness. It can take your mind off all the needles and tests and feeling so sick all the time. It really helped boost my spirits after serious illnesses.
Mickey is magical for everyone:flower3:
