November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

Sorry, i didn't mean to step on anyone's toes regarding the diet thing. I realize that everyone is doing it for a different reason. I just have too many friends that get so caught up in the image thing. I think that as long as someone is healthy and happy, it doesn't matter what they look like. I myself have even gone throught the plastic surgery route, and even with a nip and tuck there, it didn't make me happy. I found other parts of my bodt I didn't like. But with that said...

Christine, I get so happy to hear that there are other short people in the world like me. I will try and figure out how to email you so our boys can chat before the cruise. I see you live in California too. My cousin, whom is more like my sister, lives in Burbank. I love visiting her. She said it gives her a reason to go to all the tourist stuff. I always tell her to take me where I can see famous people. She always laughs and tells me to take her where she can see Amber Fry (Amber lives in my area and our kids went to day care together). So I will try and get ahold of you.

Excursions booked - Buck Island Catamaran Sail and Snorkel in St. Thomas and the West End Highlights Tour in St. Croix. I also managed to snag a brunch ressie at Palo on Sunday at 11:00. Yippee - now I am off to bed for the rest of the night I hope.

Hi Everyone!
So I went to weight watchers yestserday and was down .2 of a pound, which is okay since I had a terrible eating week. This week will be better for sure. I just have a little bit to lose to fit into some of my favourite outfits, so that will be great motivation.

I am planning to bring a few buckets and shovels, also flattened floating rings. I figure even if they end up not being allowed, they don't take up much space or weight and the buckets can be stuffed full with other stuff in the suitcase so they won't take up much room either. I can only imagine how much Disney wants for a sandpail on CC!! LOL.

We can book our stuff on Aug 24, looking forward to getting that done. MY IL's are all being lame about planning and booking... will be their loss when they don't get to do anything good.

Stupid laptop, it's too easy to hit the wrong button. Sorry about that.
We are having a nice hot and humid day today, we are off to the beach. Have a great day all. Eat lots of fruit!

Hey everyone,

Wow I step away for a day and so much chat is going on. We went to galveston yesterday and went to the water park. We had a lot of fun. But we are sure tired today.

I am off to get healthy food to eat this week and to also get stuff to pack my lunch so I dont get caught up in the hopsital cafe or running to mcdonalds across the street. We all know how that can be:rolleyes1.

Cowgirl my son is nine and will turn 10 on the ship. SO your little one has one more to pal around with.

We are not able to book excursions till aug 24th. So whatever is left we will take it. I am also confused as to what time I can start booking. Help me out girls bc you know I will get all OCD about it. I am on central time. So if it opens up at midnight what time do I log on? You guys know I need all the help I can get with this one as It is our first cruise.

Anyway hope everyone is doing ok. DBF went with his friends to the baseball game today and I am just going to try and get things done around the house. Have a good day.:hippie:

Oh I forgot to add I am only 5ft too girls. Well I tell everyone I'm 5ft but I'm really 4 '11. And I am chunky and working on it. But I'm ok with it. Being a single mom on the go all the time and working in an operating room doesnt always allow for me to eat well or even eat at all some days.

I am trying to book our Palo dinner and spa, but the site isn't working. So frustrating.:sad1:

I just now thought about getting on here to meet some DISers before our second Disney cruise. We are an Alaskan family of five with 2 boys, ages 15 and 7, and one girl, age 12. I would love to hear if anyone has kids in this age group! Still need to get on and do the reservations, but hubby is not too excited about Palo ("you mean I have to dress up on vacation!") I'm thinking that brunch is the way to go to avoid that situation!

Glad to see that I am not the only one trying to shed some extra pounds before we sail off. I'm officially back on the Wii Fit!

Nope never to late to make friends. I have a son who is 9 will turn 10 on the cruise. Happy chatting we are a great group.

Thanks for the welcome! I was not able to get brunch reservations, but did book the Screaming Jet Boat ride in St. Thomas for the family and a nice long massage for Me! I guess I will try and get brunch reservations when we get on board. :cool1:

Just got home from my weekend.
Linda I will contact you soon about the receipes and the sugar subs I use.

Welcome Jill and family :goodvibes

Gosh i feel like the jolly green giant since most of you are about 7 inches shorter than me:rolleyes1

Good luck with all your reservations. We havnt even deciced what we want to do yet.
Just too busy of a weekend to discuss them, so tomorrow we need to make some final decisions.

Its late and i am tired,

Welcome jkinak! I have a 12 year old daughter as well as a 9 year old son. My DH is not happy at all about dressing up either! But I have stuck him with Palo and with brunch too. Haha!

Kathy, it looks like there were plenty of Palo reservations for dinner still available when I looked earlier today. We just decided on Saturday what excursions we wanted.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Another work week awaits...

:welcome: Jill and family. Glad to have you joining our group.

Brunch - keep looking as folks change their plans and then there is also the 75 day mark when more times are released. That is, in my opinion, the best meal on the ship so he won't be disappointed. He also doesn't have to dress up that much.

I rarely read about the ladies not wanting to get all gussied up - it is always the men. My DH has just resigned to wearing what I lay out for him. Since it isn't anything we do at home, it is always so much fun to "dress for dinner" on the ship.

Hey guys,

I posted a question on the bottom page of 51. Can my pals help me out. I think bc it was the last post of the page it was missed.

I am in eastern time and my time is midnight (I would get to book at 12:00am Monday morning) so you will get to book at 11:00pm on the 23rd. Good luck!

Good morning everyone,

sounds like everyone is getting all set for the cruise.:goodvibes
Are we having a meet the first day?

On past crusies I have always done this before we all get busy doing activities around the ship.

Kathy

Well I'm a little late to the party, but we just booked this past weekend due to the awesome military discount they are running right now. This will be our first ever cruise of any sort!! It will be me, DH, and our 2 DDs, ages 7 1/2 and 3 1/2. Wait I take that back--I have gone on day cruises on military aircraft carriers as part of dependent's appreciation days for the Navy--but somehow I don't think those are anything at all like this will be! :D

I'm a little worried about booking excursions and Palo, though, since we can't book until 75 days. :( I don't like the tiered booking system at all--although if I were one of the ones who was able to book at 105 days I'd probably think it was the best thing since sliced bread! ;). I really am not that interested in a bunch of excursions, truthfully, since we want to relax and we have no problem exploring on our own. I would like to do Blackbeard's Castle though--is that an excursion you can book thru Disney or is it an on-your-own thing? I really would like to do Palo too, and I'm worried that it looks like we might not be able to snag anything there.

At any rate--looking forward to the trip and meeting fellow DISers! We had the privilege of meeting several on our last Disney trip when a generous forum member offered to share his Illuminations cruise with military folks for free. It was the highlight of our trip!

Oh--one question--how formal is formal night? DH has military mess dress (like a tux) and I have a ball gown I wore to a Mardi Gras ball--it's definitely formal, but at Mardi Gras they like em beaded and shimmery and such, so I don't know if it'll be too much? Thoughts? And what do I dress my daughters in? I don't want to spend a bunch on a dress they'll never wear again....

Kathy what are your thoughts about a meet. This will be my first cruise so I have no ideas. I know some groups meet before the dril but it seems to rushed. I would love to get a group photo. It would be neat to wear matching shirts.:hippie:

Let me know. I am game.

Also Shauna have you had time to get the braceletts info together?

:welcome: DisNae and family. Glad to have you joining our group. Thank-you so much for the support you give our military and to keep us safe. We are all indebted to the work your DH and all the other military personnel the world over.

Formal night - I love to see folks all dressed up so I think it would be awesome for your DH to be in his dress uniform, and you in your ball gown. If your girls have any princess costumes, those can be worn that evening as well. Frankly, you will see everything from soup to nuts as the saying goes so you do what you want to do. And remember - it makes for great Christmas card pictures.

As far as making reservations goes, they hold out some for each group that logs in so there will be some at the 75 day mark as well as some that are held for folks that don't have access to the internet.

Kathy--Don't worry about your height, I am 5'10" so you won't be the only one over 5 ft. lol.

DisNae--welcome to the group! Don't stress too much about getting your excursions and Palo. Go online at 75 days out and you should at least be able to snag a dinnner ressie. Then if it isn't the day you want, switch it when you board the ship. You should also be able to get a brunch ressie when you board the ship if you act quickly. I know they save some ressies for you to be able to book onboard. Also, you can keep checking online as some may open up. I had a brunch ressie last year and decided a couple weeks out that I didn't want it so I let it go to someone else. As far as the excursions go, you should be fine getting what you want as well. I booked SCUBA for DH yesterday, and it looked like a couple of excursions were already full, but my guess is that they just aren't available for this cruise as a couple (prob the same ones) were full at 105 days out and I can't imagine them filling up like that.

Traci--I haven't done anything on the bracelets yet as we are still having people add to this cruise. I like to wait until at least the 75 day mark when people have paid in full and are starting to book things. It only takes a couple of weeks to get them and then another week for me to send them out, so I'll be giving out more info in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for staying on top of this though.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Oh my--my girls do indeed have princess costumes! My oldest has that deluxe High School Musical prom dress costume, actually, and I imagine she'll want to wear that, as she's getting to the age where she thinks she's a little too old for the princess thing. But just wait til we get her in that environment--I'll bet she'll be all over dressing like a princess again!
