November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

ugh- got a text while at the wedding, from a friend asking us if we were okay because of the fire. What fire? :confused3Yep- October is officially Fire Season here, and yes indeedy there is a fire not far from the house. Driving home tonight I could see that it is a few miles west of my parents' house (could see it from the freeway) and that the road to their house is blockaded. It's also spread northward so I can see it from my house too, it's about 3 miles or so. It's NOT windy though so that is good news. :wizard: I sure will feel better in the morning if I can't see it or smell it. We've lived through that before and it always makes me a bit nervous. My biggest fear, traveling in November, is that we could get a late fire and be away when it happens.

Christine

WO talk about Scarey!!!! Our fingers will be crossed for your safety. Southern California. On the weather maps it looks like it would be paradise, but there are a few little things about it . . .

Ok, Gail and Traci - the weddings were yesterday - where are the reports? Where are the pictures? It's not like you had anything ELSE to do last night :lmao:

I worked on scrapbook pages yesterday, made a roast for dinner, and worked on old pictures - the more I handle them, the more they tell me. I think I finally found a photo that included the black sheep brother - it's just a guess, but - well the photo had 4 brothers and half another guy who looked a lot like them - was in the same age range, etc. I feel comfortable enough that it is he to at least put the photo in his space on the family tree with a question mark.

Happy Day, All!

Hey everyone!

We just FINALLY went online and booked excursions and finished our forms. We did the CC rental package and booked the St Croix highlights tour. We figure we will get lots of beach time and it might be nice to go see some of the other parts of at least one of the islands.

We have a less busy weekend here this week, just the regular karate on Saturday, DD had a birthday party also, then today DS has a birthday party and we are doing laundry, groceries, etc. I got started on my scrapbook pages yesterday. :goodvibes I have to say this is pushing my scrapbooking abilities, which is awesome. I usually arrange my layouts based on my pics I want to use, so it was a great challenge for me to arrange a layout without knowing what pics are going on there. Anyway, it is fun!:banana: I am putting the pages together after all, it turns out to be easier for me to do that. They are the same, but slightly different, so each one has it's own personality. :cool1:

Planning to do some work on FE gifts today also, I would like to get that whole thing put to bed this week so that I can concentrate on the rest of the planning, packing etc. I still have no new formal dress... I might just wear a little black dress I already have and add some new jewellery. We'll see what I can find between now and then. ;)

I hope everyone is having a great weekend and that the weddings went well! :bride:
Can't wait to hear all about them.

Canadian dollar is holding up well against US lately, which is great, it's nice to know we won't be spending TOO much more than we think we will!

The weather has been chilly and rainy here the last few days, we are getting the fall jackets back into circulation. :sad2: But that means the cruise is that much closer! DD made a super cute count down chart today with a box for each day until we go, and a picture she drew inside of each box. How cute. :flower3:

I'll check in again later and see what everyone is up to.

Good morning ladies,

Christine, I hope the fire is out or at least under control this morning. We use to live in Bend Oregon and we had a forest fire knocking at our back door one year. It was really scary. Just waiting to hear to evacuate. We lucked out and they got it under control before it got to us..
I hope you have good luck too and your parents!!

Cold and wet again today. it dumped rain all night. Our road looks like a river as the water flows down to the drain this morning. We are up to 40 now so I just have a small heater going where I am sitting . But I think I will have to turn on the furnace again. I dont like being cold!!

Greg will be home this afternoon so I can zip out ot the store and I think I should look for some boots. I bought cheap ones last year and i wore holes in the soles by the end of winter walking the dogs. This year I will look for a better pair. I refuse to use my good one that I wear for pirate night.

Have a great day everyone,

Kathy

Happy Sunday Everyone!!! Just checking in before the football games start...Go Patriots!!!!:cheer2:

Went shopping last night and finished my daughter off for cruise. Starting to pack her stuff up in the luggage since our summer is over and now I can concentrate on my stuff.

I remember someone was looking for swimmies/floats. I couldnt remember if they found them but I found them last night at the dollar store and picked a pair up if they are still needed.

Krista

The sun is out here now, but it's still a little chilly at 63. Nice to see a few of you gals checking in! I miss y'all when you don't :)

Kathy, sounds like you need something with a little insulation - that's NOT Florida, is it?

Lauri, countdown calendar sounds cute! Mine is the amount of food left in the freezer Xs the number of meals left until we go, lol. Or perhaps its - the number of projects I need to get through before we go!

See y'all later.

Cold & rainy here today too.

I'm not doing much shopping for the cruise this time around. I think we have enough that we've bought for previous cruises that we can use this time around. In the summer I did buy some fun stuff for DD that I though would be good for her on the cruise, but DH and I are the same size as our previous cruises so we're trying not to spend much getting ourselves ready.

DD woke up during the night with 103 degree fever. Needless to say, we didn't sleep well last night. Before I gave her this last dose of Motrin, she was up to 104. At the moment she seems to be acting pretty good and is down to 102 (only wearing her diaper, even though the house seems a bit cool), so I'm just watching and trying to decide if I should take her in to the KidsCare clinic. Why is it that these things always happen on the weekends when her pediatrician is not in?

I finally did some work on my FE gifts yesterday. Hope I can find a bit of time to work on them some more today.

Hope your little one feels better, Shauna. (or, if she's going to get the flu that she gets it and gets OVER it in a hurry, without giving it to YOU!)

I did absolutely NOTHING today after the gym. Shame on me.

Hello everyone,

Thanks so much for the well wishes from everyone. The wedding was great. I couldn't have asked for anything better. It was amazing. It was raining till my limo arrived to the location and then it stopped. I was so overwhelmed when Nathan and I started our long trek down the beach. It was so funny bc everyone keep yelling screaming whistling for us to get on down the isle. Nathan and I laughed the whole way there. So we got Married with our friends and family in a circle around us. The ceremony was short and sweet. But very nice. We took like a million pics and then we went on to the dinner. It was done up so beautifuly. The florist was awesome.

We ate drank and were very happy. We had our own room to ourselves and everyone was able to get around and mingle. Anyway it was great. Everyone loved the food and more important the cake was awesome.:cloud9:

So we got back into our limo and went back to our hotel room. By this time I couldnt wait to get out of that dress. It was strapless and had a corset back and let me tell you Breathing Was OPTIONAL!!! I couldnt even sit down to eat. I was so tired by the time we got back into our room if we had scissors we would have cut it off. I know too much information.:scared1:

We went back to the hotel changed into comfy clothes and went down the the lobby and hung out with our friends and family for a bit. My brother played his guitar and sang. It was great.

Anyway not sure when I will get pics as the photographer will probably take a while to get to us. But friends took some pics. When I get them I wll post.

Anyway it was so awesome. I missed you guys. This week will be busy as we are getting Tim ready with doc appointments and getting ready for surgery. So I will drop in to say hello.

Night

Ok...Some pics were sent to me. Here is one for now!

Traci that looks awesome! Where did you get married? It sounds wonderful!

Shauna- hope your DD feels better soon. It is so scary when they have fevers that high. Hopefully she just has a little virus.

Linda- are you doing some geneaology? Who is the missing brother? It sounds fun to look for someone.

On the fire front- it has continued to move northwest so we can't even see it now. Good news for us.

Christine

Traci - GORGEOUS! Glad you had a magical day!

Christine - Stay safe from those fires.

Shauna - Hope your little one is better soon.

Traci, Great wedding picture! I love weddings on the beach. Glad the weather cooperated.
Shauna, Hope your daughter feels better soon, it always scared the bejeebers out of me when my kids had fevers. Hopefully it will pass soon.
It was cold here today too. The rain finally stopped but it was cold and windy, and I was sitting in it watching my grandson play football.
I am trying to finish up my FE gifts, I checked the list on page 29 and I count 28 rooms and 28 kids. Is that what everyone else has counted? I shopped for my scrap page today. I think I have everything I need. I am like Laurie, usually I make my pages based on the pictures I am going to use, so this will be a stretch for me too. Hopefully they will turn out nice.
Anyway, just wanted to check in before I turn in for the night.
Have a good one,
Vickie

Neat video. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the well wishes for DD. I'm tired! We ended up taking her to KidsCare (an after hours clinic that is open weekends) and they checked her out and then decided that we needed to take her to the ER for more tests and IV fluids. So, that is how I spent my afternoon and evening. They wanted to keep her for observation because she wasn't perking up or wanting to drink or run around. Minutes after the Dr. said that she perked up, started eating and drinking and did start to run around. She must have really wanted to go home tonight. That and the IV fluids and Motrin had kicked in. So, we're home and have to follow up with the pediatrician tomorrow and find out the rest of the lab results. Hopefully this blows over quickly and I can get my happy/healthy girl back. I also hope we can get a better sleep tonight.

Night all!

I'm glad that it has worked out okay and she could go home. I have been there, done that with my kids and the ER, and being admitted to the hospital. It's horrible. I'm sure you will sleep much better with her at home and all of you in your own bed.

Hope tomorrow finds her feeling much better!

Christine

Traci you looked GORGEOUS! SO glad you had a wonderful day and look forward to seeing the rest of your wedding photos - if not on line then on the cruise.

Shauna, so glad you could come home with your little one. Hope she is better soon.

Got up and went to the gym and pool at 6. There's a lady there who has lost 120 pounds and kept it off 5 years. She is my inspiration. If I ever lost 120 pounds I would be over the moon with gratitude. I have to say though - I have changed, already, in my head. After having been working out for a year and a month - which I started in the pool because of PT for my fibro, I have less pain and more interest in doing physical things. That, plus the carb restricted eating plan I've been on since March have combined for the weight loss. But I couldn't have done what I do now, from the start. I had to sneak up on it. ok, end of digression, lol

Kathy? You up yet?

Yes Linda I am up. I am usually up for at least a couple of hours before I get online.
Shauna, so happy to hear DD is doing better. I hated it when my DD was int he hospital. It drives you nuts to not have them at home and their care is out of your hands.

Ok today I will send out Traci's FE list. I think its time everyone have a copy to look at and make sure they have the right amount of everything.

Traci, I reformatted it, hope you dont mind. I put it in order of decks.
That way when delivering if people use the list they will see everyone on each deck listed together instead of jumping back and forth on the list.
I hope that makes it easier for everyone.

Also Krista, and anyone else who has friends on the list. I dont have e-mail addresses for them so please forward them a copy of the list for me. Krista I have Stephanie's address but not Harriet or Nancy.
Thankyou.

Well its cold and foggy most places today. We are suppose to be upper 60's to low 70's this week but lows in the 30's and NO rain. I sure hope they are right. I have so much to do before the cruise and warm weather is really a plus because alot is outside stuff.

I actually found some warm winter boots to wear for walking the pups in the winter last night. YEAH!!! I am really hard to fit in any kinds of shoes due to a wide foot and high arch. So once I found the boots I saw if i got a second pair of shoes they were half off. So I looked and found a nice pair of tennis shoes with purple trim and purple is my favorite color so I got them too. I needed those too. My tennis shoes are all worn out on the inside.

So I was quite happy last night when I got back. :cool1:It usually takes me 3 or 4 trips to fit myself with shoes.

Well I am off to finish checking my mail then I will send out the lists. So if you don't receive a FE list by late this afternoon, let me know or if there is an error on the list. Please tell me.

Kathy

Got it! Haven't actually Looked at it yet, but I have it, lol.

I hear you Kathy - mine is the same way. I usually wear SAS shoes (hideously expensive and not very pretty) but I actually found a pair of athletic shoes at Famous Footwear and I have hopes if I ever need an attractive pair, I might find them there.

Didn't turn out to be quite as nice a day here as i'd hoped - gloomy and chilly. We took down a tree this morning, though, so that kept us warm, working.

See you later!

Happy Monday everyone.

Still cold today--in the high 40s, but it is sunny. I just need to realize that it is fall and my warm summer days are gone--until November.:) We leave 1 month from today.:cool1: We slept better here last night, thank goodness. I have to take DD in to follow up with the Dr. this afternoon. At least she is sick now and not in a month.

Kathy--thanks for the FE list. I like how it is organized by decks, that will really help.
