well, i will bite and start the thread! who is joining and who wants to participate in the FE??!!

HEllO! I'm glad to "sea" this thread finally got started! I tried a month or so ago..but, I wasn't clear on the "how to's...so, my post never made it under our sail date! :lmao:

I'm sailing too! :cool1: :goodvibes This will be #8 for me on The Wonder! I'll be traveling with my DD 14 (the last day of the cruise) and DTD&S 10. I'm also bringing along a couple of friends....we have 4 staterooms total...and I'm hoping for a couple more to join us.

I did the FE for the first time last year on our cruise the first of Dec...it was great! My kids especially loved it! They have been so use to helping me give out random acts of Disney kindness..that to receive something was a great surprise!

We are cruising on this cruise also:cool1: We did the FE on our last cruise, you are right, it is so much fun and the kids love doing it!!
Count me in:thumbsup2

awesome! then it seems we should start a FE exchange group for our little trip?? everyone in??

DM and I are hoping to book this cruise, using our bounce back offer from our spring 4 day wonder cruise. Will know for sure come April 6th when we are allowed to book. She needs a Cat 8 hcp, since that is the category we book for the offer for, since there are only 2 rooms, it is a long shot. Fingers crossed.

Hello all-
This will be my family's first cruise. We are doing the Land/Sea package. I have been reading the different posts and keep seeing "FE" and I have no idea of what it stands for or what needs to be done. :confused3 Could someone please help out a "Newbie"? Thanks!!! :goodvibes

"FE" stands for fish extender..the fish is outside the cabin doors and u hang your FE on it. You can join a group here of those joining and you give and receive gifts during the cruise. It's fun!!!

hiya gang.

We're now officially signed up for this one.

There's me (dad), DW, DD17, and DS 14.

My Brother's family is also coming with his DW, DS14, and DS 9.
So there's 8 of us total.

I'm sure my brother will make his way in here soon.

The FE's sound like fun. Count us in! :thumbsup2

Here are some quick links on the lore of Fish Extenders.

What they can look like, Original style
bought from ebay or made by fellow diser (good searches include; Mickey Pockets or
Fish Extender)
Homemade
No sew instructions

The Fish extender, original purpose was to accept all the treats/gifts dis'ers were giving each other during a Panama Canal cruise. Nothing to do with DCL at all.

The Fish..near your door, the permanent thing is to accept mail from DCL (notes and such).

epcotkilterfan found those wonderful mickey hanger with pockets and thought it would be cool, since so many people were bringing gifts, the Dis'ers needed more room than just the fish to deliver them to. She was right...the cruise was like Christmas morning, every day..lol.

Now many cruise meet groups decided to have FE exchanges. I have a great Tinkerbell FE, it is bright lime green, lol. I have done magnets, lollipops with a souvenir pillowbox, on a longer cruise a group of us (13) got together and had mouse-pads made up (there were 103 families cruising) and we gave 1/family. I can be something small indicative of your local region, I got a moon pie once, and candy from speciality companies, lip balm, highlighters, customized silicone bracelets, personalized pen/pencils, pirate stuff, mixed CDs and cruise themed bookmarks. No matter how big or small, always a treat to find a surprise in our FE.

Now I will sign off, until Monday when I actually have the cruise booked. Called DVC today and they had no clue what I was talking about,.

HI everyone :wave2:
Well, I just booked this cruise this morning so I could take some time to decide. I was afraid that the ship would book up because of the bounceback offers. I got in on a cat 12 (thought we might try it :confused3) since it was only a 3 nighter for $672 for 2 adults. Now if I can just get over the guilt of leaving the kids behind. :rolleyes1 I really am having a hard time leaving them behind since they love disney as much as I do. They are 13 and 16 right now. I just wanted a quick getaway for DH and I. We have NEVER left them for a getaway. I just cannot afford to take all 4 of us this year. Besides, I told older DD that I would take her and BFFL to WDW for a week after she graduates in 2010 and we have a family cruise booked for Oct 2010. So they'll get to go twice in 2010. anyway, provided we follow thru and go, I definitely want to do the FE. :thumbsup2 We had a blast doing this on our last cruise in Oct 2008. :woohoo: Hopefully, we have great participation! :yay:
Looking forward to talking to you all again soon! :goodvibes

Booked for sure, let the fun begin. We are SR 6000, all the way forward, cat 8 HCP, big room, but no sofa.

Is anyone combining this with a stay at WDW before or after. We were able to book at Bay Lake Tower for 4 nights before hand.

Now the big decision, town car, bus or rental car for transportation to the Port and back, hmm...

I booked this cruise for DW, DS and I a few weeks ago in Cat 12. And tonight added another cabin for my mom and dad.

I expect to see alot of cruisers from NJ as this is NJ Teachers' Convention weekend and see a few already posting to this thread.

Looking forward to a great time. :thumbsup2

How's the swimming everywhere (pools, beaches) during early November?

I've been to WDW/DCL for several NJ teacher weeks, I have meet some really great people, can't wait!

go away for a week or 2 and BAM!! i have to catch up!! okay, so i am guessing a list for FE participants will be necessary, i just have to figure out how to do that, any suggestions?? link a thread??

Cool, We're on the same deck. This is our first cruise, as well as my brother and his family's first cruise, and all we could swing ($$$) this time was a cat 11. But hey, we figure get us on the ship, we pretty much just need the room to sleep and shower, esp on a 3 day lol.

So My family and I are in 6069, and My brother and his family are in 6071. Midship.

Exactly. Brother's wife is a Teacher and my wife is a T.A, and thats exactly why we chose this week.

We have gone to WDW several times before during "jersey week" (the people at the hotel, and several cm's in the park actually called it that lol) and had a great time.

We're looking forward to this one as none of our group has ever cruised before on disney, and my wife is the only one who has ever been on a cruise ship (and only once) before and that was NCL when she was about 13. So we are all excited to not only cruise, but get a little mickey time in as well. :thumbsup2

HI! I had started a November 5th thread along time ago, but I guess this one got picked up (or was here and I didn't see it). No one ever came to my thread so I thought I was cruising alone! LOL Count me in for the FE ! My name is Lisa and My Husband's name is Pete. We got married on Nov. 4th on the Disney Wonder in 2008 on Castaway Cay and we are heading back for a Anniversary Trip. We are being joined my by Sister, Laura, Brother in Law, Brandon and my Adorable Niece Alyssa who will be 2 months shy of two years old when we sail. I look forward to meeting you guys! This is going to be great!

Thanks for all the insight on the FE's. Are gifts given on each day of the cruise or is it just a one time deal?

A side note...
My DW found out that her boss will be on the same cruise as us. Her boss is a DVC member and is often doing some type of Disney vacation. When they both found out that they will be on board at the same time, my DW's boss said that her boys would show my boys the ropes and keep them busy with all the activities. I sure am glad that my DW gets along with her boss! LOL!:)

The Last Time we sailed we each gave gifts one night of the cruise. Since this is a short 3 day cruise I think that would work good for us. Do you all agree, one hand out per cabin?

Can the OP start a running list on the first post with Cabin No. and Names of people playing along?

Here is a Picture of our Door and our Fish Extender from last cruise!
